      I agree Johnnie, back in the day the enduros were just coming out, few wanted these anymore. Now looking back, they are just plain cool.

    It sounds very good Dale . I always use Blendzall , it is a bit gummy but I have been using it for 50 years with really good luck .

      @montana2strokeracer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you, years ago I used Blendzall, I think you just use what is available in your area, these days you can get anything sent to your house. I use Caster bean oil (currently Klotz) in my race bikes, but Yamalube in the oil injection bikes.

      Hey Don, most folks are very nice, but there are some out there that their parents failed them at some point. I just don't think we should treat each other in any other way, but the way you would like to be treated.

    I just got my Great-grandfathers red 1969 Yamaha YG-T Trailmaster 80, (only 2,000 miles on it), and I was searching for restoration videos to help me bring her back to life. I found your channel and am super thankful for your videos. Keep up the great work!

    We all make mistakes. You less than others. Can't say I've ever heard of weights needing to be moved while adjusting a 2 stroke. Quite interesting. For having no manual you were very much on track! A great lesson making educated guesses, learning from mistakes and correcting them.

    • @montana2strokeracer
      @montana2strokeracer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Jim, yes this system keeps the timing retarded to start the engine, then once started the flyweights go out and advance it for normal riding.

    Regarding the condenser/capacitor, I think you meant to say 22 microfarads/µf. Farad is the unit name for capacitance. Named after Michael Faraday.

    Hi Dale, I have a Trailmaster 100 too and by the looks it is in very similar condition.
    Busy to get it ready so it'll run right to hopefully get it registered here in the Netherlands soon !
    Mine came from Oregon originally.

      Thanks Shawn, bet the RM80 was a fun project, the smaller bikes are my favorite these days. They still have good parts availability and there were more made, so used stuff is there too. Glad these videos are of some use. I appreciate you spending your time with me in the shop.

    • @montana2strokeracer
      @montana2strokeracer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there, all I did on this one was to buff out the old paint with buffing compound. It still has the chips and scratches, but it shined up pretty nice. After that I coated all the painted parts with paste wax.

      Thanks Jeff, I certainly don't deserve to be put in that category, I am just having fun in my retirement doing the sort of things I could only dream of as a young man. I grew up reading magazines and watching what others were doing, just like you and every other guy at the time. Of course, those who try, make mistakes. It just takes all the wind out of the sails when folks get too serious or over their skis about stuff. I don't do this for a living it's just for fun and I hope others can get some help for their projects or just some entertainment from it. Thanks for the kind words my friend.
