I was the previous owner and it makes me happy to see you enjoy the vehicle so much. It is a fine example of a Niva. Why did it break down exactly? Was it the ignition barrel? I left a spare (new) ignition barrel in the trunk and the battery is only a few months old. I loved that car very much and did not want to sell it, but my personal situation is now quite unfortunate, so I hope you love the vehicle as much as I did.

It was the ignition switch and the battery was dead too. It is a very nice Niva. It went back to Washington state. I hope your situation gets better!

I worked in Montenegro for a while and our company gave us one of those. My job required us to drive 2 and half hours up this rough dirt mountain road and back down every day. That thing never gave us a problem once the entire time. We had several other vehicles for other crew that were constantly in the shop from the damage they sustained traveling up and down that mountain. The only thing we ever did to the Lada was oil and tire changes. We really became quite fond of it. I'm gonna reach out to you tomorrow to see if you still have it and what you're asking for it.

I am so sorry but I am just seeing this comment now! What a great story! Thank you for sharing! These things were built like tanks! Are you still looking to buy one?

I want one. Especially living in Minnesota. A good basic 4x4 with a manual transmission and carburetor engine.

In a similar situation, some of the ones are sold at high prices at the Alpha car dealership, and some have already been sold.

Trabant, Niva... and Riva, those are the cars I want... stop making me regret being in uni still!

They are fun cars! I assume by uni you mean university. Education is important tho! As long as you are studying what you love and you will use it life then it's all good to be still there. Otherwise you might be wasting your time and money.

University can be a waste of money, but a Trabant is always a sound investment!!!

Whats the story behind it, why the car was dumped on the side of the road?
Also, I think one day you guys need a proper ramps, instead of drainage cattle :P

Hi, first of all the car was not dumped by the side of the road. A person was sitting inside waiting for me to scoop him and the car up. Purchased the car, the guy was supposed to drive it to our lot, he didn’t make it. That’s for the story :) The ramps were proper ramps but they weren’t used properly. They are perfect for golf carts, Trabants and motorcycles. They were not made to hold regular sized vehicles. That’s all I had handy and we had to make it work. Now it’s time to buy 2 sets of ramps. 1 set to replace what we broke and another pair for cars. 😅

How much does one of these go for?

At the moment $10k and up but their prices just keep climbing up. Great investment!
