A little background to this video might help some of the commentators. This KTM Rallye was the only one that was run during 2020. KTM havent gone cheap etc, they had to make compromises because of covid. We don't have covid in the general community here in New Zealand hence the riders not bothering with masks or social distancing, but we do have it at our borders. Anyone visiting NZ has to quarantine for 2 weeks (at a 4 or 5 star hotel) and be tested clear of covid before moving onwards. Because of the huge cost and time involved the usual Australian crew couldnt come over to help run the Rallye, so no Rosie, Adam, Danny, medic crew, mechanics and support staff etc. Rosie joined us via zoom before and after the event however. Rob, our GPS guy took over photographic duties, and young Caleb did filming duties with help from various others. That's why its different, and under the circumstances did a stirling job. What didn't change was the riding, it was fantastic, especially the 5th day, not particularly scenic but huge amounts of flowing forest single track. It was mint on a 690. Another 4 day Rallye was also run last week in the lower part of the North Island. Hopefully later this year KTM Rallyes will be back up running in other parts of the world.
Hey man are any of these trails from the event public to ride? Or was it going through private farmland and stuff? Would love to take my bike out on some of these in the video
@@Seqhael Almost all of the offroad trails and tracks were on private farmland and private commercial forestry. So much good riding makes these events very popular but it takes quite a lot of negotiation with the various land owners for access. I co-organised the Northland segment of the 2018 Rallye so I know how it works behind the scenes.
Congratulations guys beautiful adventure! Thats My dream too and one day i will to buy My beautiful 1290 super adventure r and i wiil to take the ride with All of you guys 👍🏼💪🏻
Thanks for sharing. While it lacked a few of the cast and characters that we have grown used to. You still managed to capture the sense of adventure that we are all here for. Thanks again
Wow! A different world. I was there in early 2020 and rode the Banks Peninsula and MacDonald Downs in the South Island. Amazing. Currently obsessing of a way to escape from the UK to be able to ride in NZ again. Rather fancy the idea of buying a 690 and doing the Adventure Rallye; if you Kiwi's ever let us Pommies back in again, which you may, hopefully by courtesy of Oxford/AstraZeneca!!.
Ktm Rallies are awesome, I traveled half way around the globe on 2019 to take part in Australia from Greece and I’d get back on 2020 with more European friends if COVID-19 wouldn’t ruin our plans. Had it not been for Adam Riemanns quality videos however, none of us would ever be motivated for such a long trip. Average video costs a lot more than real pro video. I hope next time you do it properly, with @ARiemann1
Well done guys, considering the world situation and what freedoms we have in NZ you guys did an awesome job with the challenges! I’m a Nz southerner lived in the north for a few years, great seeing some of the NI country side again, SI will always be unbelievably epic in different ways, but the NI has its own treasures trails and forests, might get on a NI rally one of these years! Always seem to have a great bunch of riders from all over too, just good gals and guys enjoying the ride, I like that. Was surprised to see Murph on the mic and the bike, he gets around that man seen him in the car and on the MTB, now KTM Rally sic az dude! Always great to see Birchy taking point and riding like he’s on a 125 🤙 Epic team 🤙
Attn. skilled adventure riders... I'm still learning to ride on dirt roads. What did that guy do right (or not do wrong) at 9:47 to save that big slide from thick metal & not dreaded highside off??Good skills - balance & power control nice👍Give me a rally car sideways = no prob's but bikes with lean factor...yikes! But is it same principle: opposite lock & power, & trust good tyres? Standing with less weight on back wheel is better (doesn't seem right)? Thanks. OR IS THAT JUST CHRIS BIRCH & SAY NO MORE LOL?🤣
I rode my 08’ 690e in the 2019 Breckinridge, CO and it was a blast. Sorry their was not a ride last year but I get it. Hoping 2021 will give the US another rally.Sold the 690e and will replace with and adv bike, looking for a KTM 490 ADVENTURE if available. Living in CO i think the 390 is not enough for my 230 lb with gear weight at altitude.
I’m heavier than that... unfortunately. I live in Utah and ride to park city sometimes. My 390 still does good. No problem getting up to freeway speeds.
Beautiful. Now that Covid Garbage is going away here in the USA maybe some states will re-open and allow people to live and make money. Well Done and sure makes for a great rainy day this morning.
Can it with the COVID denial. This Rallye was right at the end of one of the strictest lockdowns on the planet, an action that eliminated the virus from NZ shores. So no *need* for masks.
Don Boucher you should educate yourself on why this rally could go ahead, why there were no masks and why no one died: everyone doing their bit with quarantine and tough restrictions early on to contain and eliminate the virus in NZ. No denial heros ruining it for everyone
I don’t think he denied Covid. I think he implied he isn’t afraid of a virus with an over 99% recovery rate. Feel free to live in fear, but don’t criticize him for refusing to. The recovery rate for people my age is 99.98%... I’m not going to change how I live. If you are at a higher risk feel free to take precautions, but don’t force them on those who have no need.
Its got nothing to do with fear. Why wouldnt you do your bit to stop the spread of a virus during a global pandemic? And ‘Survival rate’? How about just not spread it in the first place....

Great tour! But this is not a Riemann production. He'd do it much better. And BTW where is Rosi?
