I initially wasn't all that interested in the PO-12 because I thought it was only good for drum stuff, not making standalone tunes. This video has completely changed my opinion. I have the sub, arcade & robot on my wishlist, but I think I'm going to pick up a rhythm as well.
Awesome work! Thanks for posting. I've ordered mine but the next 4 days is gonna pass sooo slowly while I wait for delivery!!! I have seriously itchy fingers after watching your vid 👍
Awesome track! Just got one of these and everytime I use it I find a new feature. Definitely worth getting if you're on the fence if this track hasn't already swayed you 🙂
Thank you my friend! :) Glad you liked it! Yeah PO-12 is an awesome little machine. Just finished a track so got a new vid coming up soon :) Be sure to stick around! ;) Cheers from a cold Sweden! :) //M.U.M.
No more concerning about what to buy to support my arcade and robot. This clip shows the rhytm is the perfect choice. Placed my order in my instrument webshop in this very moment. Great work, I am now curious what you could perform on a synced arcade robot rhytm set...
Glad I could help! Yeah I really dig the PO-12 but a thing to note is that the firmware is a bit rougher than the later POs. The build of mine is pretty crap too but that might be since it's from one of the first batches ever sold. Love the quirky and limiting sounds of it tho! The Tonic is a great drum PO as well but the ability to change sounds makes it both powerful and offputting(for me that is). I would love to hear some of your jams! :) Hehe well I have all of them so might give it a go. All the best! //M.U.M.
LotusVette84 Yeah you won't regret it! Loads of fun in this one! Will work great with the micro so prepare for some nice beats! I have been thinking of buying the Micro myself, are you satisfied with it?
I am very satisfied with the micro. I must tell you though I am new with synth. The microbrute is my first experience so I have nothing to compare to. That said, the analog sound is awesome, and it doesn't take long to get familiar with. I do find it sounds ALOT better coming through my ElectroHarmonix Cathedral Stereo reverb unit.
Great song, you really show the potential of these little pocket operators :) I got your OP-12 book, and while it's great and has a ton of useful info the manual excluded, I can't figure out how to write melodies. I may be reading the instructions incorrectly, but some help would be fantastic :)
Thank you! :) Okay for making melodies you have to adjust for exempel sound 15 so that it have the pitch you want. Then enter write mode and enter the notes you want with that pitch. Exit write mode and change the pitch of sound 15 again to what you want it to be. Enter write mode, put in notes, exit write mode, change pitch etc. etc. Hope that clears things up :) Thank you for buying my ebook and hope you enjoy it despite your troubles! //M.U.M.
So you can change the pitch of the notes on the PO-12 like on you can on the 14 and 16? I never even thought to try and change the pitch like that! I always tried to twist knob a while holding"write" as the sequence plays out lol
LOL! Of course you'll get there dude! I'm just a guy pressing buttons and doing finger dancing :) Not to hard to top ;) BTW check out my ebooks if you haven't already :) Thanks for the comment and keep on doing music! //M.U.M.
Helpful, funny video. So does the PO-12 save one's patterns and sound-settings upon power-off? I read that removing/changing out the batteries will re-set to factory. But I'm assuming simple power-down will not, right? Unfort. with only 16 patterns though, one could not store an entire hour-long live performance set. Unless one got really minimal and built up/down each unique pattern (as it's own song) on the fly...?
Don Solo Hi, glad you liked the video :) The patterns are saved even when power off. I have had mixed results when removing the batteries completely and I've read a lot of other guys experiences. There is no actual Factory Reset function so your patterns are saved but stuff like applied effects to patterns MAY get messed up by removing the battery. Yeah I hear ya! The lack of a dedicated Mute button does make it a bit harder to make one pattern into an entire song. But they are still a great bit off fun. You won't regret buying one :)
So I just bought one and am extremely happy with how easy and fun it is. So far I've been removing the batteries without losing any patterns, or applied parameter locking, yet...as by gosh, how long til the thing 'auto-powers off'?? I waited over 40 minutes last night and just decided I didn't want to waste anymore battery.. I am also wondering if there are more functions with the 'function' key beyond clearing a pattern?...It would've been great if the function key + sound # muted or solo'd that sound. That's the biggest lacking feature I can think of so far...Otherwise, so worth the price-tag I'm thinking of buying a 2nd one just to store away in case this one ever fails!
Don Solo Nice that you got a PO and that you don't regret it :) Thanks for sharing your discoveries about the "battery removing". The PO never really powers off. The synth engine shuts down after a while(the button LEDs shut off) but the screen remains lit to keep the alarm clock accurate. It drains minimum batteris tho(I haven't changed mine since I got 'em three months ago). There sure should have been a mute button. It is the biggest feature missing on these bad boys. Cheers! //M.U.M.
Hi Miguel! Thanks for commenting! It's only the PO-12. I wanted to show you how much you actually can do with just one of the POs. Let me know if you want me to do a tutorial about anything on the PO. Take care!
MadeUpMonster sorry, i realised after I posted that you must have selected the tone sounds and manually wrote them in one at a time, exited write mode, changed the pitch, then wrote the next one in, and so on and so on. that must've taken a lot of time, but the end result is really cool. I think this is the best demo on the web
theycallmejpj No need to say sorry :) that's exactly how i did it. Do You have a PO-12? Thank you for saying that! Really appreciate it! All the best! //M.u.M.
MadeUpMonster yes, after your advice and a couple of others, I settled on buying a po-12, po-14, and volca keys =) I think I will buy either a microkorg or Yamaha reface CP next month. I thought I was cool after making my first down-tempo hip hop beat the other day, and then I watched this vid and realised I have a long way to go yet..!!
MadeUpMonster No paint. It is the Se model. They came in three different colours. Oddly the cream I have was the only one the store had in stock because it didn't sell. I actually like it though. And thanks! I will be making more videos, including a tutorial for syncing them up, since I have had alot of questions.
MadeUpMonster I can say that my kid was heavily inspired by your hand dance in his Pocket Operator video here (about 5 minutes in and forwards...) :) th-cam.com/video/IhFIUdICYSA/w-d-xo.html
tubesockor Haha thanks a lot! Din grabb är jätteduktig! Grymt musikalisk( och teknisk) för att va så ung! Glad att jag kunde bidra med något! Han kommer att gå långt! Spela in mer videos!!! ;)
It's been said already in the comments, but this is absolutely the best representation of the full potential of the PO-12 on the internet.
Thank you!! I really needed to read a comment like this today :) Glad you like my work. All the best! //M.U.M.
True, but this one shows the melody/bassline potential of the PO-12 th-cam.com/video/CaJ7M6OzPu0/w-d-xo.html
the finger dancing just ties the whole thing together
started watching this video sceptical
ended up fully satisfied
Glad I didn't disappoint! :) //M.U.M.
Head and shoulders above other PO-12 tracks. Perfect progression and builds
WOW!!! This video demonstration might have been the final straw for me wondering if I should get one of these!! That was insane MAN!!
lukesuperflyjones BIG THANK YOU! :)
Holy shit bro
Best beat drop ive seen on any pocket operator. EVER.
Wow. Great stuff. Should be a marketing video.
+A. J. Rolle Thanks a million! :)
Finger gestures looked fine to me. Great demo. Well done!
oscillated Thank you! Glad you like it! :)

Looking forward to it! Need a regular fix of PO's until my shipping arrives :D
WOW!! My mind has been blown, I need one.
Thank you for the comment! Glad I could inspire :) //M.U.M.
Awesome! Seems like you can get some pretty decent bass sounds out of this too.
Yeah it can be pushed to some cool stuff :) Thank you for your comment! //M.U.M.
Awesome démo.
Thank you very much! :) Let me know if you have any questions about the PO-12. Cheers!
Awesome work! Thanks for posting. I've ordered mine but the next 4 days is gonna pass sooo slowly while I wait for delivery!!! I have seriously itchy fingers after watching your vid 👍

Marc Hinz Thank you! Looking forward to seeing some of your videos!
I love that man! Actually Ive got PO 20 as first, and it looks PO 12 is the right next one. Thanks for your great videos!
Thank you! :) Yeah those are the two I think are the most complete! You got anything recorded with that PO-20? //M.U.M.

ahahahah lol :D
Dude you got skills!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh man, I can't wait till mine arrives. It will be working with my microbrute, and should be epic.
LotusVette84 Yeah you won't regret it! Loads of fun in this one! Will work great with the micro so prepare for some nice beats! I have been thinking of buying the Micro myself, are you satisfied with it?

LotusVette84 Aaah the Cathedral Stereo! I have had my eyes on that one! :)
MadeUpMonster Ya, it is pretty epic! I got lucky and found a used one at my local music store. Got it a bout 66% price.
very creative
+Smartearmin, Thank you! :)
Sick!
cool !
DataDDiary Thanks :)
This wins for the hand dancing alone!
awesome work! 👍
Thank you :)
Amazing
Thank you :) //M.U.M.
Awesome!
+merlin speers Thank you :)
Duude that's HIllarious...and yes I know it's been over 3 years since you did that! U got the Arcade PO aswell?
Y vale €60. Se llama Pocket Operator.. Me encanta
Hey man, can you teach me how to delete the previous pattern/beat so that I can start from scratch and create a new one?
+Shamman Hippy Funct+pattern will create an empty pattern. //MUM
Mine arrives in 2 days :)
Hahaha - one of the best!
Great song, you really show the potential of these little pocket operators :)

Levy3Poop Well, its not as easy as on the 14 and 16 but you sure can do it! Give it a go and let me know when you made some cool music! :)
This is ridiculous! I hate you for being so solid with the po-12. I feel like such a noob.
I'll get there though, if only to be as good as you.
LOL! Of course you'll get there dude! I'm just a guy pressing buttons and doing finger dancing :) Not to hard to top ;) BTW check out my ebooks if you haven't already :) Thanks for the comment and keep on doing music! //M.U.M.
That kick
Yuuummmmmmmy :)
Just got my po-12. How do you program the melodies so precise? Catching the notes while playing with the knob is impossible
Andy Poes Hi, check out my ebooks on iBooks or Google Play(search for PO-12). And I will soon make a video tutorial about this.
cool will do
Slow down the tempo a lot to program
+Shamman Hippy ...while "viewing" the pattern that you want to delete/clear press "func" + "pattern" buttons and it will wipe it clean :) //M.U.M.

Is the rythym good for hip hop sounds
Wo_________oW
Please do a tutorial on how to use this machine :P
Thanks for the comment! I've made ebooks for PO-12, PO-14 and PO-16. Available at both iBooks and Google Play. Links in the description! //M.U.M.
MadeUpMonster Top! Thanks man!
Hi there, I have a question for you, did you use any other devices for this song, or it's only the PO-12 rhythm?
Hi Miguel! Thanks for commenting! It's only the PO-12. I wanted to show you how much you actually can do with just one of the POs. Let me know if you want me to do a tutorial about anything on the PO. Take care!
Yyeeepppaaaa
Yiiiiiihaaaaipppepaaaapaa! :)
My GOD
Could do with more confident hand gestures ;). Great little track thanks fir sharing.
Gruntz 15mm from Rottenlead Wargames Haha I'll work on 'em ;) Thank you!
Record it and master it!
Hmm really? Do you think people would like to have this in their iTunes library? :) //M.U.M.
i dont know, id mix it if id knew ya
this was all done on a PO-12?
theycallmejpj Yes this is all one PO-12 being played live. No extra effects or anything. All PO :)
MadeUpMonster sorry, i realised after I posted that you must have selected the tone sounds and manually wrote them in one at a time, exited write mode, changed the pitch, then wrote the next one in, and so on and so on. that must've taken a lot of time, but the end result is really cool. LotusVette84 Hey! I like it! Cool tune and a nice sound from that Micro! Have you painted it? Never seen it in that color :) Keep 'em coming!

Крайне неприятны игры пальцами
I hate his hands moving in all these videos. it's so immature
Oh sorry dad! I will never have fun with synthesizers again! ;P
