If you like the film, you will love the manga. The manga has been called the greatest sci-fi epic ever written in Japan, and is absolutely brilliant. Miyazaki has said that his greatest regret was never making Nausicaa into a series of films following the entire manga series.
He could still do it couldnt he? Anyways I'm sure it's amazing considering how good it was all throughout the film. What a masterpiece in filmmaking. A hidden gem of hidden gems
Stormcutter 59 if they were to make it into a series of films it would have to be cel animated. Otherwise you’re just not honoring one of the greatest manga in history.
I agree. When people ask me what my favorite Miyazaki movie is, I always tell them Nausicaa and they seem so surprised. "Why didn't you pick Howl's Moving Castle or Princess Mononoke?" they ask. Well, Nausicaa is such an incredible character (saintly without being a Mary-Sue), and the story is so epic and fun without being stupid or cheesy (like the old Star Wars movies), and Nausicaa holds nostalgic appeal for me because it was my very first Miyazaki movie.
Nausicaa is my favourite too. I love her character and the music is the best too. It kinda makes me angry when people think mononoke ot howls moving castle are better than the first icon nausicaa
Things I say when I watch this movie: "Do I wish that they had those squirrels in pet stores." "Man I hate Kushana!" "Aww... That's so sweet" (part with the jacket, by the way. Gets me every time) "Yeesh! She does mean that UN-lucky man, right?" "Aww... They're sorta holding hands." "Oh man I can't watch." (hears her get shot/get her foot stuck in acid/getting trampled) "NOOOO!" "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" "Aww... I love happy endings!"
You shouldn't say that, Disney definitely doesn't suck, though I prefer Ghibli to Disney myself but Disney has done some great movies too, I prefer old Disney movies though, animation is beautiful and even though story might not be as great as Ghibli's there are some awesome movies, I personally loved Black Cauldron, should rewatch someday.
What about Beauty and the Beast? the first animated movie to be nominated for best picture? now that is a great movie with a good lesson about loving someone for their heart/soul/spirit and not to be decieved by appearances about beauty is from within which true beauty is the soul/spirit/heart of a person and you love a person for their kindness. Plus Belle is a great strongwilled heroine no doubt who is a lovely outcast bookworm nerd who didn't fit in with everyone in town and rejected Gaston for being a brainless jock as she wanted a man who cares/respects her for who she is/not for her looks or beauty but a goodhearted person plus she taught Beast (whom was a cursed human in the form of a creature being who need to earn other people's love in return as he was a spoiled selfish-unkind prince at first who treated everyone like objects and he had no love in his heart as he was punished by an enchantress) as she taught the beast to grow up, manners and all that as he has to earn her love in return for his kindness if he wants to be a human again (he was mean at first then he grew up finally after years of anger and stubbornness because of his appearance and always thinking about himself) plus a good lesson about being yourself or independent minded like Belle who was rejected by society and all that.
In a poll in Japan, the greatest anime series of all time was Evangelion, the greatest anime film of all time was Nausicaa. Also, Japanese film critics voted Nausicaa the greatest japanese animated film of all time. I would also add that Nausicaa is not only the best Japanese science fiction novel of all time but probably the best science fiction novel of all time, from any country. Even better than Dune (another masterpiece).
(i'm french and a children so i don't speek a good english but i hope you understand) i like all the film of miyazaki maybe it's the best animated writer japan of the world i really like the music too :)
I was going to comment on how this movie probably has the best soundtrack out of the Ghibli films, but then I realised that they are all this good, and I smiled.
My favorite movie. Then Howl's moving castle, then grave of the fireflies, then castle in the sky, AUGH!!! I LOVE ALL THE ONES I'VE SEEN!!! I read the manga for nausicaa, it was awesome...
This movie is wht made me take flying lessions. Ive beenintressed in it for 10years. im finaly getting my glideing lessions someday i want to be a very good pilot. just like Nausicaa. this movie inspiried me. :)
It was also my first movie, back in 1984 my father brought it from japan in japanese, I didn't know what they were saying but that didn't hold me back of watching it again and again. After many years I watched the subbed version and I got so excited that the next day I read all the manga series!
the last book and nausicaas decisions at the end, and the whole revelation about the true purpose of the whole sea of corruption was earthshattering andhad a definate impact on my mood. itwas just THAT powerful
At 2:39 starts the best moment! ^_^ EDIT (2years later) : I change my mind this not the best, ther're others soundtracks of Nausicaä really better, and also the hole best part of this starts at 2:04...
+Zane3Erik it's my favorite part, do you know the name of the song and what track it is, I must find it ha would be great if it was extended LOL that should have been her theme song.
+Tammie This version by itself ? what do you mean ? there is juste a name for each part no matter of sing what version it is... Anyway I'm still looking for a hole Nausicaä soundtack to buy it or even on the net to listen to. You can download this do you now ? via youtube MP3
+A. Rydell there is few versions of the soundtrack: Hi-tech Series, Image Album: The Bird Man... Symphony: The Legend of the Wind SYNTHESIZER FANTASY all of them have different arrangement of songs with synthesizers.
I may be a little dramatic about what happens in my fav movie, (that I've seen about 500,0000 times and never get sick of it) most of it is funny or worth saying. By the way, no dislikes. I can see why. :)
The part that starts 2:39 has been in my head since I was very young and I've always found it beautiful but never could remember where it came from until my grandmother (yes my granny) actually told me where it was from. And since then I have been a faithful Miyazaki fan.
I will amit first hand i have not read much sci fi, but i have read the manga for nausicaa, and it is AMAZING outstrips the original film in scope and the power of it's message
Beautiful :) 2:38 is my favorite her voice is amazing, can anyone tell me the name and track number of the La La's in here..I really love it. I think there is another version of the voice, but I want this one.
:0 waaw I like Princess Mononoke then Spirited away to Howl's Moving castle then, Castle in the sky.. also the cat returns ponyo would be my last one because it was the last one i ever watched after i watched the others u liked i also Loved totoro
I see a lot of people talking about Akira and I know it's a very famous film. When I watched it though it didn't seem that good, the first part was and it had some good animation for an Anime at that time however that was it, it doesn't have anything that you couldn't find in any other Anime at the time, dystopian future with strange scientific experiments. This film was far more enjoyable with much better animation despite coming out 4 years earlier.
I don't think it makes sense to think about what movie is the best. Each movie he made is a masterpiece in it's own way, even the less acclaimed works such as Porco Rosso and Lupin.
I haven't read that much either. But this manga is so superior to anything else that I have read that it seems very unlikely that I will find something comparable.
I didn't diss Star Wars. I love Star Wars. What I meant was that Nausicaa is epic and fun without being cheesy or stupid, just like Star Wars is epic and fun without being cheesy or stupid. Forgive me for not clarifying. I was wondering after I typed that if people were going to be confused.
apparently, grooveshark is one of the best places to search for music :s so it appears, that this whole set, its called symphonic poem :3. have fun searching
+Arvis_Jaggamar Maybe because this is one of the earlier versions of the movie, before they went back to do another, final edit of the movie because they found several things they wanted to improve. That happens with music a lot, in my experience.
hahaha xD Oh okay thats good =P hahha xD very true! Porco rosso is great too, I defenitely recommend. Not as great as nausicaa or nothing but mayazaki of course never dissapoints =)
This all songs are Nice but they dont sound like the Music IN the movie, there are some very nice synthie-sounds in some scenes, but i cant find these :( :(
they are not on youtube i think. But in The scene, Where the prince is Falling down the Forrest, was nearly eaten by a giant fly-monster, and was rescued by nausicäa, there is some nice synthie-melody. I can't find it too

Were did he say this tho? Because same nausicaa as a series would be my dream I love nausicaa to death. I need to see the statement for myself😂
I've got the first 3 manga, It's been a while and they're still new looking, I just don't recall how many are total
I still remember needing to lie down when Tito died!
When I was 7 I watched this movie. I cried. five times. Now, I've adapted the screenplay and re-written it as a play, years later.
Live on, Miyazaki!
I agree. When people ask me what my favorite Miyazaki movie is, I always tell them Nausicaa and they seem so surprised. "Why didn't you pick Howl's Moving Castle or Princess Mononoke?" they ask. For me, btwn Nausicaa, Princess Mononoke, and Castle in the Sky, most catches my heart and soul
Also grew up with this, and i also cry all the time when i watch it, even if its the opening scene.
This movie the first time I saw it I was blown away and I thank you so very much for putting up the soundtrack to such a incredibly moving film
Sounds like a classic Disney film. Better than a lot of Disney films
Disneys sucks bro, all disnesy films lacks on content and creativy, they only makes cliche movies.
Disney makes fun and safe movies, Ghibli makes true art.
You shouldn't say that, Disney definitely doesn't suck, though I prefer Ghibli to Disney myself but Disney has done some great movies too, I prefer old Disney movies though, animation is beautiful and even though story might not be as great as Ghibli's there are some awesome movies, I personally loved Black Cauldron, should rewatch someday.

this is one of the classic animation that i wont get tired watching! and the soundtrack is aweseom!

I'm french too :p
+lunalune teelumee Votre anglais est plus bien mon francais
That "la la la" part has been stuck in my head for like a week now. I love this movie and soundtrack!
I was going to comment on how this movie probably has the best soundtrack out of the Ghibli films, but then I realised that they are all this good, and I smiled.
Nausicaa has the best with castle in the sky but yeah they are all really good joe hisaishi was born on a different planet
0:00 RIP headphone users
yeah my ears just busted
Nausicaa is my favorite Miyazaki movie without a second's hesitation.
My favorite movie.
Then Howl's moving castle, then grave of the fireflies, then castle in the sky, AUGH!!! I LOVE ALL THE ONES I'VE SEEN!!!

Best song from the best movie. Ever. End of story.
the last book and nausicaas decisions at the end, and the whole revelation about the true purpose of the whole sea of corruption was earthshattering andhad a definate impact on my mood.
itwas just THAT powerful
I find that to be a great thing because it shows Miyazaki's giant imagination.
💯
At 2:39 starts the best moment! ^_^
EDIT (2years later) :
I change my mind this not the best, ther're others soundtracks of Nausicaä really better, and also the hole best part of this starts at 2:04...
no way!!! (maybe actually)
+Zane3Erik it's my favorite part, do you know the name of the song and what track it is, I must find it ha would be great if it was extended LOL that should have been her theme song.
+Tammie
The part that starts at 2:39 is the Requiem, but that's all I know... gomen
Zane3Erik Yeah I found the name, but can't seem to find this version by itself. Or who sings it.
+Tammie This version by itself ? what do you mean ? there is juste a name for each part no matter of sing what version it is... Anyway I'm still looking for a hole Nausicaä soundtack to buy it or even on the net to listen to.
You can download this do you now ? via youtube MP3
Can I honestly say that the background reminds me Star Wars? ⭐️🚄
I can see that. I can’t believe I’m responding to this reply after 3 years ago. הדר לוי
Rey Palpatine? I did not see that coming.
One should not indulge himself so much in nostalgia. But I can't help. This song is just so good.
damn it! I was crying the whole movie!! I loved it so much!!
i personally love you for uploading this.
I LOVE PORCO ROSSO!!! he's the definition of cool :{
best soundtrack ever made
Ans that on periodt💯
I wonder why no one seems to have the more 80s-techno aspects to the soundtrack
+A. Rydell those tracks were not techno AT ALL (just FYI ;p)
I'm not here to argue over what they were I JUST FUCKING WANT THEM.
+A. Rydell there is few versions of the soundtrack:
Hi-tech Series,
Image Album: The Bird Man...
Symphony: The Legend of the Wind
SYNTHESIZER FANTASY
all of them have different arrangement of songs with synthesizers.
+A. Rydell animethehylia has them
I think you could find them under the 'kaze no tani no nausicaä tag' really easily, because that's where I found it.
Thats so cool this movie inspired you so much to learn to fly!
How awesome for you :D
I may be a little dramatic about what happens in my fav movie, (that I've seen about 500,0000 times and never get sick of it) most of it is funny or worth saying.
By the way, no dislikes. I can see why. :)
I cant get enuf this is some fit movie!!
2:39
The part that starts 2:39 has been in my head since I was very young and I've always found it beautiful but never could remember where it came from until my grandmother (yes my granny) actually told me where it was from. And since then I have been a faithful Miyazaki fan.
I've started recommending Ghibli to people who think they won't like anime.
Ponyo. Oh my GAWD! I so love that movie too.
I will amit first hand i have not read much sci fi, but i have read the manga for nausicaa, and it is AMAZING outstrips the original film in scope and the power of it's message
It's in my Netflix queue. Four other movies ahead of it, but I should see it this month.
Beautiful :) 2:38 is my favorite her voice is amazing, can anyone tell me the name and track number of the La La's in here..I really love it. I think there is another version of the voice, but I want this one.
Its pretty potent tune, especially in that flashback in the movie.
2:40 Gives me the chills Every. Single. Time.
I would say there is nothing like Nausicaa (movie and character) anywhere, not only among Miyazakis.
YES Castle in the sky is amazing! make sure you see princess mononoke tho! Thats another movie that will blow you away =)
:0 waaw I like Princess Mononoke then Spirited away to Howl's Moving castle then, Castle in the sky.. also the cat returns ponyo would be my last one because it was the last one i ever watched after i watched the others u liked i also Loved totoro
2:30
By far my favorite song throughout the entire movie!! I have no idea why it's just so... captivating. The entire movie was! :)
2:39

@SailorBarsoom Miyazaki is great, but after seeing all his movies, there still isn't anything like Nausicaa, both the movie and the character.
PERIODT. Castle in the Sky is on the same level i think but nausicaa is just the biggest legend
its been like........8-9years since i was insipried that this and another movie lol,
映画公開からもうすぐ30年、いまでもこの曲を聴き続けています。
Thank you ^^
”飛ばねぇ豚はただの豚だ” such an amazing movie.
Porco Roso is a very good movie. I've seen most of the Miyazaki movies except for 2 i think
Love grooveshark! they have alot of Joe Hisaishi and full soundtracks for most of the movies
its funny kus i catch my self wissling it often ...but ill allways rember it from when i cas a kid :)
love this movie and my fav part is the lalalala part it starts around 2:33
leave it to miyazaki for a incredicable moving movie. i love all his film. all of his movie are masterpiece.
The first note caused me to jump O-O
love it love it love it!!!!!!
I have to agree, except for the line about the original Star Wars movies - Nothing beats the original Star Wars from 1977. This comes close, though.
the first phrase of the vocal melody reminds me of vivi's theme from ffix
I know it too. But I have not seen this film when I was a child so I have no idea where from I know it.
Watched it. It was great. It seems as if Ghibli can do no crap; everything's good.
Saw it. It is great. Man, you can't swing a dead cat in that forest without hitting a god. ^_~
yes. the manga is epic as well.
lol really? Who said that?
But yeah, Nausicaä is probably my favourite too. I would love to read the Manga at some point, I've heard its really good.
i like this
apparently, grooveshark is one of the best places to search for music :s
so it appears, that this whole set, its called symphonic poem :3. have fun searching
The replay button hates me >:D
@hihihi022
Yeah. He loves to fly and it shows.
Why are the "la la"s different??
+Arvis_Jaggamar Maybe because this is one of the earlier versions of the movie, before they went back to do another, final edit of the movie because they found several things they wanted to improve. That happens with music a lot, in my experience.
+Arvis_Jaggamar actually this is the one I want, cant find a video with just that la la of the song, it's own track and who sings this one?
Nice
2:39
not sure why, but this piece of music captivates my emotions and imagination.
This part of the movie always makes my ex gf cry.
Where did you find this version of the soundtrack?
@InreallifePOSTS Thats cool! i'm curious how the epic scope of the film would convert to the stage.
hahaha xD Oh okay thats good =P hahha xD very true! Porco rosso is great too, I defenitely recommend. Not as great as nausicaa or nothing but mayazaki of course never dissapoints =)
@AnimefreakBL9636 Yeah I love this film as well Thanks for the first comment! :P
@miriixrep
Makes some cry, makes some high, wow that girl can really fly.

Like
does anyone know the name of the song with a sick drum beat that plays during an ohmu chase scene?
@SailorBarsoom She's awesome
What's the name of the song at 2:37 or is this all one song?
@SailorBarsoom i did not like porco Roso that much to be honest but Mononoke created mountains of shivers down my spine as well as this film XD
awesome comment!
myazaki powaaa
This all songs are Nice but they dont sound like the Music IN the movie, there are some very nice synthie-sounds in some scenes, but i cant find these :( :(
Do let me know if you find those! I'd love to hear them again.
they are not on youtube i think. But in The scene, Where the prince is Falling down the Forrest, was nearly eaten by a giant fly-monster, and was rescued by nausicäa, there is some nice synthie-melody. I can't find it too
www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm9272173
www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm10755076
this seems to be the original ost record from the 80s
the first track has that synthesizer sound.
This is the least good movement of Naussica's Symphonic Poem, yet it is still amazing.
Is this her child's voice in English, its so pretty!!
does anyone know what the music is called when Obaba is telling the story of the BLue Clad one and the music at the END end credite?????????????????
When the legend is told to nausicaa the best track starts to play and its called "the legend of the wind" I don't remember the credit one tho maybe it was "Bird person"
what is the name of the song from 2:39?
