I still care about the words. I have been listening to Elton for over 40 yrs and can't wait to hear Bernie's words to Elton's great melodies. Still the best!
He is a gorgeous man! As he aged especially the 1984 tour we had those two toned suits black and white red and black he was such a handsome man... ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The lyrics mean everything to me! He's the most amazing pianist, his solos divine. He has touched my life 'personally' via the lyrics, for I've experienced a lot of what he sings. I've been addicted to EJ since I was 9, and I'm now 51, so he's 'part' of who I am. Not to mention, I collect sunglasses of all shapes, sizes, and colors, have 75+ pairs, wear them for my 'mood' each day...he's IN my soul I suppose. Crazy.
Yeah, he really had the muse. He could do three things VERY well -- write melodies, sing songs, and play piano. He's still my fave artist of all time. I've listened to his music more than anyone else's over my lifetime. Thanks, Elton. Bernie's lyrics are quirky and charming, as in Bennie and the Jets, Saturday Night's all right for fighting, Someone saved my life tonight, Dirty Little Girl...
If you'll pardon the expression, fantastic! Never seen this interview before, only have still shots of those marvy star glasses. Part of my early fascinating with his albums was that they printed the lyrics on the cover or sleeve. Helped me appreciate the songs so much more. Now you have those microscopic lyric sheets they might include with your CD, if you're lucky.
He was very, very tired and at that point, it makes perfect sense. The Mike Douglas interview just after this is also a good indicator. I was a big fan of his through my teens. I was a big enough fan I should listen to Captain Fantastic Part Two.
yeah I always don't understand it when people say he's ugly. I think he was very cute and handsome and is still quite attractive!
agreed! his charm, laugh, charisma and voice blows me away every single time.
He's got a wonderful smile up to these days. And he was very cute due to his shyness. Never thought of him as 'ugly'.

So true. In the 70's, sat with the album in my lap and followed those lyrics. Bernie and Elton. They were a team.

1:25 "I know but what the fuck am I gonna do with it" LMAO!
I have these glasses he is wearing. My friends dad made them for him, at a place called Optique Boutique on Sunset Blvd.
famous place that's cool
Elton mentioned that place on Soul Train
Very cool - they’re nice!

“Do you like being called Captain Fantastic?”
“You’re the first person that’s called me that!”
I find that adorable and hilarious.
Next time I run into Elton I'm calling him Captain Fantastic.

He's always been "Captain Fantastic to me !
I love those glasses!
Ticking is a fantastic song with a strong piano sound.
You could tell he was nervous during the dinner bit. Probably why he had the wine. Or was it something else?
thank you!
WONDERFUL!!! THANKS FOR SHARING :O!
So cute that they sit next to each other at the table
Thanks!
awesome! :D thanks 4 posting
Yes - he says "Just give me the royalties" and then "I know... What the f*** am I going to do with it."
Great Post!!! Is there any more footage?? Thanks.
@Tropico2009 I think it's "Just give me the royalties"
Unfortunately, lyrics don't count today. We need more Elton John's...I would think the 20 somethings would even agree...
