I can't decide which of these two performances are my favorite! It may be Bang, Bang because I have a soft spot for that song anyway - however, I can definitely see how blown away the judges were by the performance of Gloomy Sunday (and rightly so)!

As an 83year old totally unmusical male who has been listening to Angelina daily for 10 years now, I appreciate that you are quite articulate in your reactions to her. So many reactors are equally enraptured by her voice, her musicality, but many do not get beyond the Wow! and Amazing! stage. Thanks for keeping up with her.

Molly, She is never nervous if you go listen to Billie Holiday's version the two are exact! It is uncanny to say the least. Angelina was a genius at 7 yrs old and also did Billie Holiday's I'm a Fool to Want You perfectly matched in ACAPELLA no less!

At this age you expect a seven year-old to be singing "Frozen" or ponies and fairies, not this kind of subject matter. As one of the judges said "She is born with this". I love watching you discover this rare jewel in our ugly world. Thank you.

Nice reaction Molly. What Angie said about “Gloomy Sunday" choice “The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but “Gloomy Sunday “ was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after
midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad, where I wanted to listen to jazz on TH-cam before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song “Gloomy Sunday” that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song.”
(Sara, Angie's mom was asked what she thought when she saw her on the screen backstage, (she was wiping her tears when watching) I knew I had just lost my little girl to the world ) The family has always been very close & since that even more protective of her from the entertainment industry’s vultures & hyena's.
(You might want to start from the very beginning were it all started.)
“I who have nothing” by Ben E. King & covered by Tom Jones & Shirley Bassey. She’s 6 in a sound booth at her school. th-cam.com/video/RjQZKBpVaes/w-d-xo.html

“Summertime” by George Gershwin th-cam.com/video/bnpFsCNKzFg/w-d-xo.html Finals on NGT & she’s 8 here.

Molly, you just witnessed history. Gloom Sunday was her introduction to the world and that video will live forever. Yes, you made me smile because lots of people chronologically determine Angelina's age by watching the growth of her front teeth! Molly, there were two other songs she performed in the talent show. In a performance, after Bang Bang, all contestants had to a sing a song of their own choice a cappella to determine who moves on to the finals. She chose to sing "I'm a Fool To Want You". (I know, all this is crazy! But, crazy good!) 10 contestants made the finals which included Angelina. In her Finals performance she sang George Gershwin's Summertime. Molly, she aced it and there is one particular note she hits in the song which will literally knock you back in your chair.
A lot of us in the States have discovered Angelina in the last year, or two, but the people in Norway have been following her for 8 years! She's currently 15. I recommend you check out the other two songs in the NGT Show before moving on.
I like the way you hesitated before using the word "comfortable" because that is never a concern. If you picture the beginning of Gloomy Sunday when she extended her left arm out to "instruct" the technician she's ready, okay to start the music, you knew she was in her comfort zone. Angelina is most comfortable in her life when she is singing. She was born to sing.

Her rendition of "Bang Bang" is maybe the best version of this song (And I do love Nancy Sinatra...). It is absolutely perfect, the pace, the diction, and her tone is incomparable - no adult can imitate her tone, and for this song it suits it perfectly "When I was 5 and he was 6...." what more can you say ?

Gloomy Sunday was her audition piece, so the first time on the show and the first appearance to the public. By the time she sang Bang Bang she'd got through that hurdle and was clearly more confident. Perhaps the difference you noticed had to do with the fact that Bang Bang had all the studio production behind it so appeared more polished anyway. Yes, that was her mother, crying she said because she knew then that she had lost her daughter to the world (although I like to think that she had actually gained several million people into her family!). You need to watch her Summertime performance, which won her the show (oops, spoiler!). If you want to see her sing at age 6, there is an amateur recording of her singing I Who Have Nothing. That, too, is worth watching!

Insane how Angelina captures the mood of both Gloomy Sunday and Bang Bang. Some angels have called her an empath. To complete the Norway's Got Talent, please react to "I'm a Fool to Want You" which she sings a capella (might be her most impressive performance) and the "Summertime" which she sang in the Finals.
Molly on your own you really should hear the judges comments for the two songs you just reacted to. The judges comments are remarkable.

Hi Molly, That was her mother, in an interview afterward, she said, that she cried, because she knew that she had lost her older daughter to the world. As we fans can see that is not completely true. When you watch this videos with translation you come to understand that the judges loved her from the first audition. Especially Judge Omer is still her friend to this day, as by the way is Heidi Klum.
As for her live experience, she has seen more of the world than the most people will ever see in their lifetime.
Her dad works as an engineer for an international company, and little AJ and part of the family followed him, or visited him. The famous episode of the shoeless girl happened in the Middle East in her grandmas home country in the winter. It was freezing cold and this girl and her sister without shoes where trying to make money and doing their home work. The shoeless girl saw a queen and a princess coming closer. She was trying to get people on her bathroom scales for a little money, her sister tried to sell flowers in the freezing cold. When she asked the little princess if she actually was one, the princess in her fine clothes said: "no my name is Angelina and this is my mommy". Because the girl did not want to take the money AJ´s mom offered her, AJ put off her shoes, not to dirty the scale, and stepped on it many times. When asked her name by AJ, the girl say "my name is Princess". After the legendary conversation, AJ helped to take up and clean the homework of Princess, so that Princess could give that to the teacher. This Info stems from her English version of her book "Between two hearts", that officially was published when nine year old. BUT the words she read to an interviewer and audience are of her diary, written on that day, when she met Princess at six years. Please stay save and as healthy as you can. Kind greetings from South Germany.

"Gloomy Sunday" was her first performance for a general audience. It was recorded on Jan 25 2014 (two weeks after her 8th birthday). "Bang bang" was performed on April 11, and in the meantime she had done "I'm a fool to want you" for the NGT (recorded Feb 7) and "Fly me to the Moon" on a TV show March 21. She was definitely more experienced singing "Bang bang"!

  • @jollyo9276

Thanks again Molly for even this dobbeled up reaction (I love that). You are right, she grew in confident by every one of her 4 performances, even though she was fully confident at her first audition (Gloomy Sunday). I feel confident she was quite a bit more exited for her first performance, as she had naged and asked her mom for a couple of years, to sign her in for on of these TV show competitions. As you will hear her say at the AGT, as she was 13 YO; - she waited 10 years to perform in front of Simon Cowell.
So finaly mom gave in and let her go on stage, singing Billie Holiday. That was the day she totaly stoped me in whatever I was doing, she made my jaw drop to the floor, and I wonder if I even took a breath at all, or a blink of my eyes during those 3 - 5 minutes she introdused herself to the world. And the thing is, even though I was a bit prepared as I saw her other NGT performances, I think she drove me trough that whole same prosidier every time. Stunned and breathless.

" he didn't take the LIE to TIME" but in the 20 plus times I've watched it I honestly never noticed because her vocals on this song are so hauntingly beautiful she really does it better than Nancy and my opinion.

Gloomy Sunday is one that really shows how music is something that is just _in_ her. It comes from somewhere deep. Here is a quote from Angelina about Gloomy Sunday that gives a good look at just how mature this kid was even at 8 years old...
"The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but "Gloomy Sunday" was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on TH-cam before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed... I'm talking about jazz queen Billie Holiday. I heard the song "Gloomy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song". - Angelina Jordan

Angelina's family, how did they know that there was something about this kid? It's like they knew, they documented everything she did, even when she was really small, tinier than she is in this video. Hey the whole family just blows me away. Molly Bee great reaction and thanks, take care.

  • @wisehiker
    @wisehiker 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Actually her very first is a Capella as the initial audition to just get into the show. "I'm a fool to want you" and her winning song was Summertime.

Gloomy Sunday was the first song she sang at NGT, when she was 7. "I`m a fool to want you" was her second, and she had just turned 8 performing that. That was the judges` cut to reach the semi finals.

Now, to continue you really need to watch her performance of “Summertime” in the NGT final. Follow that with her outdoor performance at 8 of “What A Difference a Day Makes”. I would recommend that you follow that with “Feeling Good” at age 10 on Norwegian TV indoors. There’s also an outdoor version also on TV which some prefer. In both, they are live performances with two different backing bands.

I had never watched those back to back, and was interested in your reaction to the difference in her "comfort" level. In the first performance, "Gloomy Sunday", she was auditioning after a full day waiting around. (Definitely watch that video with her interview. Watching her climb up on a chair is priceless) Bang-Bang was actually the semi finals and I'm pretty sure she was a lot more relaxed and rested. Another reviewer pointed out that Angelina is actually giving directions on timing to her guitarist when she turns her head at the end of the song so that they're in perfect sync. You'll notice that she often gives hand gestures to the band. Truly a wonder to watch.

the jump in her stage presence and that aspect of the performance from the first two songs to the second two is easily noticeable especially noticeable when she does summertime

  • @kenscott8966
    @kenscott8966 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

Yes, these two performances were Angelina's first and third at NGT. Second is her singing a Billie Holiday version of "I'm A Fool To Want You" (and oh yeah, that one is a cappella!). Her final performance (for the win) was Gershwin's "Summertime". And as these 4 performance took place over nearly as many months the maturity of Angelina is observable as she grows physically and grows into her craft day by day. And yes that was her mom who later said that was when she knew she would have to share her daughter with the world!
Please include the links to the original videos in the description so Angelina can more easily get views. Thanks.

"Bang Bang" is AJ's penultimate performance on Norway's Got Talent. "Bohemian Rhapsody" on AGT is really the culmination of her talent show performances. And yes, "Gloomy" is her first NGT performance, followed by "I'm a Fool" a cappella. Then there was a break of perhaps 6 months, when her tooth grew in, before she sang "Bang Bang." Then came "Summertime," which, given her age and the difficulty of the song, IMO is her best performance before "Bohemian."

  • @TheGadgetwiz

The two reactions I always watch from reactors are I Put a Spell On You and a Bohemian Rhapsody.
Gloomy Sunday was her first song. She sang I’m a Fool to Want You akapella on the show either right before or right after Gloomy Sunday.
    Yes. That is her mother.

I suggest I'm a Fool to want You, her second song then her last performance, Summertime, it is by far the best.
If you watch all 4 in order with subtitles you will see her progression and the judges comments in awe of her.

Great suggestion. I love both those performances. Her rendition of I’m a fool to want you, sung a cappella, is almost beyond belief. It seems to me there are continuous key changes in that piece and very bluesy runs that would be easy to get off key when singing without back up - However she just nails it.

👩🏻🎤🎵🌎⭐️🇳🇴❤️ Thanks Molly. Gloomy Sunday was indeed Angelina's first audition on NGT, 2014, and her first appearance on the world stage. Bang Bang was her semifinal (3rd) performance. Her second performance was an a cappella rendition of I'm A Fool To Want You, and her finals performance was Summertime. Bang Bang is my favorite performance by Angelina on NGT, but that is not to say that I think it is better than her other performances, just that I like the song and that I like that performance as well in particular because I sort of discovered it on my own when I was first learning about Angelina. Yes, that was Angelina's mom, Sara Astar, at 3:50 (Angelina's full name is Angelina Jordan Astar). I left some Angelina recommendations along with links on your reaction to Feeling Good, if you want to check those out.

so gloomy Sunday was definitely first and it was her audition to get into the show itself bang bang was the semi-finals and she's obviously much more confident and I think that has a lot to do with the fact that she exploded in popularity after the show came on TV so by the time we get to her performance of bang bang she's already had crowds of people screaming at her clapping telling her they love her she signing autographs she's done a bunch of interviews for TV news all kinds of things like that so she would obviously be much more comfortable in front of people and crowds

Yes her mom, and order of performance for the 4 MGT songs are Gloomy, I’m a Fool (acapella), Bang, and Summertime. Thanks Molly, spot on observations as always. Cheers 🍻
