@@ronfox5519 yea I just wish we had one more dirt half, terre haute is great and its a blast from the past, its just we dont have the several 1/2 or larger dirt tracks like ohio or illinose does, we did have one of the big track and one of only miles that were left, there is a dirt mile south though in shelbyville not walls or guardrail though, of course I suppose its the high banked paved tracks though are what make the scene too, anderson irp, ims, winchester and salem and truth is the very most skilled and exciting drivers in silvercrown are they guys that are the best on pavment or just as good as they are on dirt like, kody, bobby, sevey, roarig, ferns, dakota armstron, bischak and leary grant and bryson to name some of them, though its the dirt that puts on the best most actionpacked show its the racing, the farms, and the steel industry and really the collage sports that keep us on the map, but small towns and railroad history too.
@@ronfox5519 well many raceways are going by the way side a few came back but we lost two in indiana just before this last spring gas city never reopened and southbend was sold not its going to be storage for some guy though not technicaly torn down, and those were short tracks I think but the halfs oh people seem to be turning against them, people dont like them as the racing is follow the leader and the guy with the best engine strings it out before anyone can give them a run for first place, racers dont like the nastier wrecks and how hard it is on the chassies and motors, and many promotors dont like having to groom a half mile dirt track it takes more resources and some have actually been shortened, or tried to shorten them like west viragina that is a huge 5/8ths like irp here is. and they dont have all that many races here at irp though I dont think they ever really did have huge seasons same with terre haute never really showed in results of seasons as more then 7 events a season even since the hey day up into the 80's and 90's when they were still building tracks. but without the 1/2s you dont have nascar, you dont have the big touring cars that use big tracks, and you cant have a silver crown race they dont do anything less then a 1/2 for the champ cars and that is what they are made for big tracks longer time to accelerate and gentler turns so it dont eat the tires up as fast and more space to move with all the momentum speed, I heard drivers say at winchester after they hump off the turn they are going soo fast they dont get grip again till about half way down the straight away it comes up and down soo much , heh yea that is what they said or rather taylor ferns or someone around her pit think she was talking to dakota armstrong about it. point is I actually like the speed of the 1/2 miles at least in qualifying and a good long half like winchester or terre haute the engine is reving high enough the car actually starts to roar, not just like eldora where its slightly shorter and only gets 2 seconds of run up before they let off it sounds like when readying for the turn when watching in car video of it, a mile though you can almost count to 5 before they let up and the engine is screaming like almost topped out. I like eldora its fast its kind of dusty but on a good day and a long race you can get some lead changes and things that happen, they run out of fuel, they loose a wheel, they wreck with 2 laps to go like the leader at the jokers jackpot did this year in the redish car, I sometimes like the longer tracks but we dont have as many in indiana on dirt anymore, though in the past there were several half miles, or its how the older tracks started out , like montpeilier, jungle park, the one at the state fair, winchester used to be dirt and banked to 45 degrees, the ones that were horse tracks first those were usually at least a half, warsaw started out as a half, the old fort wayne speedway down by where glenbrook is in fort wayne that was a 5/8ths then a half, the later baer field was a paved semi banked half it never saw a champ car race though not enough seating and it put in a 3/8ths for the smaller cars so they weren't tearing engines up as much in the mid 90's, only closed since the owners sons didn't want to be absentee owners after he died, and it did need some work since the track had not been paved since 1997 when it was put up for sale at the end of 2019, some guys here wanted to bring it back but gm's truck assembly plant 3 miles down the road out bid them and was going to use it for a test track but then decided it was too small for the purpose, so now it was sold back to the airport that its behind and will either become warehouses or the area will be used as a trainning ground for the fire and police of the city of fort wayne, its sad really, but the matter of it and people are building soo many houses and developments around northern indiana, there isn't anyplace far enough away in the sticks to carve out a new track, and people complain about the noise even miles away, though its flat here we had one 5 miles away and on a clear night you could hear the cars rev up at the dragway or on a saterday night at the circle track just faintly. or they carve out huge amounts of farm land and build housing additions there is a lot of that anymore around here makes me sick, I know we need houses here, but we also need farmland, and places for the animals or we will get more incursions on the roads if they have nowhere to go and more accedents.
I suppose you would rather have a cocky arrogent champion that think the ground they walk on is turned to gold, then a guy that gets overwhelmed by love of the form or racing and gets emotional when trying to take it in, is there for the fans, and gives a bit of credit for a job well done to the other competitors. He broke many records with this win, from usac's instegram post,"Swanson’s eighth USAC Silver Crown title (2014-15-17-18-19-21-22-24) set a new record in terms of total championships earned by any one driver in a USAC national series. He had previously been tied with A.J. Foyt’s seven Indy Car crowns under the USAC banner as well as Mel Kenyon’s seven USAC National Midget championships. Furthermore, Kody’s ninth career IRP Silver Crown victory set a new record for wins in the series at the track. Of all people, he surpassed the record of eight that he had previously shared with his brother, @tannerswanson_. With his latest win, Kody also moved to the top line in terms of overall USAC sanctioned wins at IRP with his 15th, tying Tracy Hines and Bobby Santos for number one all-time. In fact, Kody’s dominance of IRP extends even further. He is now the record holder for most wins by any driver at any track in USAC Silver Crown history. His ninth at IRP surpassed Jack Hewitt’s eight at Ohio’s Eldora Speedway and Tanner Swanson’s aforementioned eight at IRP. To begin the night, Kody even earned his seventh pole position of 2024, setting a new USAC Silver Crown single season mark in the process. Who’s record did he break, you might ask? Of course, it was his own record that he broke. He earned six pole positions in both the 2015 and 2023 seasons. This night also marked the fourth time in which Kody won both the season finale and the USAC Silver Crown title on the same day. He’s now accomplished this feat in 2014-2015-2021-2024. yes He gets emotional, but he is the king of silvercrown, drives butter smooth, and at the end of the day his equiptment held out good enough to win and so he did, I respect Kody alot, and yet hes not my favorite driver on pavement, that would be ferns, bischak, or roarig, on pavement, and maybe leary and armstrong, and gamester but I will clap for swanson and grant, and know how good seavey is and bobby santos is
I love the big cars! And a good job Trey Osborne!
Awesome job Kody!
Kody is a very worthy champion. I love this series and I love how hard everyone has to work to try and be competitive.
First time seeing a race! Indiana is amazing! 👌🏾🇨🇦here…congrats to the winners!
They do have a ton of great tracks down there.

@manga12 true. The half miles are kind getting phased out all over and it's a shame

Unfortunately Grant didn't win this or anyone else. Instead we had to listen to this guy blubber his way through another interview...
😂 and now you’re crying 😭 about it
