- "Lunar" is a Latin word for moonlight and is often associated in esoteric circles with the feminine energy and intuitive nature. It can also be seen as a symbol of transition and change throughout life.
The Japanese woman in my video is dominated by a prominent red moon at the center of the scene. This moon is also known as the "Blood Moon" because it can appear reddish due to atmospheric conditions. In many cultures, the moon is associated with spiritual or mystical properties. Often associated with strong energies and changes, the Blood Moon can be seen as a symbol of transformation and renewal.
The music I composed supports the atmospheric mood perfectly. I used the cello and shakuhachi to create a calming and meditative atmosphere. The koto and gamelan are intended to provide a musical nod to Japanese culture and spirituality, which are subtly intertwined here, creating a unique and fascinating experience for the viewer. Ouuaa! your mother used to tell you. The word for light in the sky, how it doesn't even abandon you at night. You clung to that hope, that full sliver of the shyest trust, and always found the way home by the moon, even if it meant slipping through trees when the path ended. The earth seemed to roll out before you. It never was important in itself, the ordinary facts of life, and social organization getting things done, on the grand flat scale of lines of directions. No, the moon could only be universally applied to every point, over and onto everything, and as quick as a dream ends away from being caught, by it all. Your suffering was so great it left scars like little craters, unending amounts of draining tribulation, leaving you pale, and completely alone and distant. You thought you found a forever friend, that you understood and could care for a thousand times greater than it itself simply ever saw. And it saw you, your mystery, your unearthly unique shimmering beauty. But it barely cared. Then one day, millions of millions of heartbroken years into a cosmic destiny you couldn't stand without life, and everything the universe meant, you floated away, from the tortured burning agony denying you.
