Ive been producing music for 15 years, hundreds of cool tracks that have only served as a crop for me to pick out ones I liked for my own music releases - the rest are just chilling on my hard drive doing nothing. Seeing your video and a few others like this makes me realize those thousands of hours could actually be making me money right now. Thanks for the content!
Right on Stevie B - thanks for the insight into your process. I just started uploading to royalty free libraries - Pond5 specifically and they accepted my catalogue. Made a first sale after about a week and then we heard about the publishing shift and royalty reduction. Now I'm scanning the horizon for other options to diversify, so that's where we're at - looking for options. Respect from Alberta. Gus
What you'll find with Audiojungle is that they give great priority to newly uploaded tracks. What normally happens is you'll upload a track, maybe catch a few sales and then after a few months or maybe sooner that track will kind of get lost and then only sell now and again. Unless you get it past something like 20 sales before that point it won't rank that well for the keywords and such. There are old tracks that sell well indefinitely but that's because they already got to a high amount of sales. So to sum up, you have to keep uploading regularly to sell and for your other tracks to keep selling. Of course it's designed that way to benefit Audiojungle.
loot6 haha why wouldn’t it benefit Audiojungle? People tend to forget they’re running a business, it’s not a marketing agency for your music. What you’re saying about 20 sales is incorrect. I sell from my back catalogue regularly on tracks which have sold far less than 10 licenses, but yes they rank lower in searches and new submissions are favoured. I encourage people to see this all as incentive to create music of the highest calibre and test it out on AJ, Pond 5 etc. These libraries aren’t perfect, but they’re accessible for most up and coming producers.
@@Steven_Beddall There's running a business but don't need to be this unscrupulous. Look at any other industry, an actor's agent takes like 10%, apps on the app stores only give 30% to google or apple and they are basically the exact same platform as Audiojungle - just a search platform to find digital content. They're all running businesses but Envato is way more money crazed than everyone else. 20 sales was just an example, I just mean they give priority to newly uploaded tracks. You won't see an old track with no sales ranking anywhere, only tracks with many sales or new tracks get ranked well.
Also, to share a slightly more positive perspective: If one is creating a video and in need of stock audio, one would also, naturally, prefer to use new(er), fresh material, rather than a track that's been used, say, in thousands of precious productions. So financial ambitions aside, they're also prioritizing creativity in the industry.
@@esperago That would seem to be the exact opposite of what they're doing. They only prioritise new stuff unless a track has many, many sales already....thus the old tracks already with countless sales rank the highest and get sold again and again and again...literally the opposite of new material. They promote brand new tracks, and tracks that are old and have already sold a billion times...all the tracks in the middle of that get lost in oblivion...all the gems get lots in their stupid system.
Hey Stevie, this is great stuff man. I just quit my job and am looking for exactly this kind of side hustle. It's nice to see real earnings and be able to check the music being sold as well. Thanks for being so transparent. Going to sign up on a few of those websites, thanks!

Very educational. Sounds like you did a good job studying the styles of music and creating tracks that fit in. Do you plan on joining a PRO like BMI to collect backend royalties? Is it important to form an LLC before uploading, or okay to upload as an individual? What do you think of Pond5 modifying the terms to 65/35 instead of 50/50? Does that mean Pond5 isn't worth bothering with anymore, or still a good site for beginning composers?
Thanks! I'm already a member of SOCAN here in Canada and I register all my works with them including all stock music. As far as I know totally fine to upload as an individual, you have to fill out tax info on AJ though. I don't think highly of Pond5 switching it up, however we are at their mercy and there are always changes like this and surely more to come across the board. I'll still upload to Pond5 regardless and would still consider it a good place to start. At the end of the day 35% is better than nothing.
Hey Stevie, I wanted to know if you have a video on the different type of licenses and how they work…? I’m not certain on the amount of plays that are provided and so on…. Thanks
Hi, I'm noticed that you are a member of "Canada SOCAN" P.R.O. Is there any impact to the Music Library on AudioJungle? Cause some of the composer I think don't use any P.R.O. at all. Thanks for the answer
Thanks for the video man! Three questions: 1) Do you upload multiple versions of each song (:15, :30, :60 sec, etc?) 2) do you do recommend doing exclusive on audio jungle? 3)Is it possible to change the status form exclusive to non-exclusive?
@@Steven_Beddall Cheers man, love the quick reply! I really appreciate it! Last questions (and by last, I mean I may ask more on other videos :)) Do you do multiple 15/30/60 second edits of each track? For example, if you have a sick verse and a sweet chorus, would you perhaps do two 30 second edits, highlighting each? And if so, how do you go about labeling them to differentiate? And finally, are you then updating your PRO account to reflect each of these edits?
@@DennisFlorine No prob! I don't do multiple edits of the same time length because for me personally I think one is enough, but there's a limit to what AJ will allow for alternate versions, 5 max I believe. Something to keep in mind. I've never actually done multiple 15/30/60 sec edits for a single upload but I'm assuming it's fine as long as you describe it in the file name. For PRO account, yes I update it with all edits!
I wouldn't say so much that Audiojungle have a higher quality standard since it's literally full of junk, it's more that they have a very specific idea of how a track should be structured to sell well. I've heard some really bad sounding tracks that not only got accepted but already sold a few hundred.
Thank you Stevie I just started to upload to POND5 and get some reject about my SFX for no reason. And even when I compare to some others they seem to hear a less more pro no EQ or Compression or any post edit audio and they still on the POND5 platform

@@Steven_Beddall Cool, so would you say posting your songs on TH-cam to promote your Pond5 or AJ links made a difference? It seems some people post tons of songs on AJ or P5 and get no sales, so just wondering how you got sales so fast. I'm very impressed :)
Nothing Here I don’t think they made much difference, if any. I think consistent quality and attention to detail, also paying attention to relevant trends are the most important factors for success on AJ.
Notice that Premium Beats wants exclusivity, so you cant use any other sites with an individual track. Would you recommend going for more non-exclusive uploads to services like these, or choosing an exclusive site like premium beat with potentially more reach?
Both have their advantages and disadvantages. I believe Premium Beat pays up front for finished tracks which is hard to find these days. With royalty free stock sites I recommend non exclusivity in general, but I think it's worth experimenting with both.

Hey thanks man great info! I just started uploading to pond5 a month ago. And haven't had any sales. I will try audiojungle and some other sites next. It would be greatly helpful to show your process for writing production music. Do you think your success with audiojungle is because of the length of time you've been a member?
Hey thanks for the input Robert! I'm definitely going to be uploading more production/writing process vids shortly. I'm not certain my membership history has any bearing on the algorithms or sales, I'd say more likely just trying out a variety of different styles, tag words, titles etc.. Also uploading multiple different versions of the song is very helpful and creates more incentive for the buyer. Best of luck with your sales!
Hey man thanks for the video. I went and checked out your audio jungle and was very impressed with the quality and diversity of your music. I am also wondering how you have so any instrumental sounds like electric guitar, ukelele, guitar, strings etc. Do you record those yourself? Or do you use a bunch of VSTs? If so, which VSTs do you use? Thanks again man
Hey thanks for the feedback! I do most of the guitar/uke recordings myself, however I do use NI's Strummed Acoustic and Electric Sunburst on some tracks to blend with real instruments. As for strings I have a variety of Kontakt libraries I use such as Spitfire's Solo Strings and Albion One, and NI's Symphonic collection and Studio Strings.
Hi @Stevie B Music On what Plattform should i Upload and sell my Sounds that is made for like Hollywood Movies and stuff? Does AudioJungle also have the Option to sell Sounds for Movies, Commercials, and VideoGames? Greetz
I know exactly what you looking for. Years back I stumbled across this website that was only for uploading cinematic music and selling to movie and film producers. I lost it. Lol. I believe I typed in (how to buy and sell cinematic music to movie agents /producers)
Sorry im half way in watching where you talk about the sales you made on your songs and I had a question, hopefully it gets answered later in the vide. Is it necessary to buy promotion for you songs to be higher recommended than others, like beat stars does? Or are all purchases generated from organic searches from customers? Thanks
You can't buy promotion within AJ or Pond 5, all sales are derived from organic traffic and search results. Newer songs are featured first, hence why most sales if any occur shortly after your song is posted. You can submit your tracks to be featured in some of their promotions though, and your tracks can 'trend' in sales which will appear in some other traffic veins.
How are your Pond5 sales currently? I’m getting constant sales at audiojungle but I have less item _views_ at Pond5 than I have sales at audiojungle and I’m wondering if it’s just that much harder to sell in Pond5
As someone who’s considering looking into this, my only question would be do you retain ownership of your music or do you lose your right to use it elsewhere once you upload it?
You retain intellectual ownership always and the right to use it elsewhere. Basically, sites like AJ and Pond 5 license your music to buyers to use for their projects without copyright infringements. Depending on the type of license, there are some restrictions on how the buyer can use your song.
@Stevie B - I just joined Pond5, and I do not see any information regarding tagging beats before they are uploaded. Do you have any information on this?
You first upload you r music, then you have the option to 'edit' the uploaded file which will show up under your uploads, there you can add all the relevant information and tags!.
Thanks for the video, How’s the last few months? I’m wondering if it’s better to have my tracks that are on audio jungle also registered with my PRO. It seems a lot of the high sellers don’t register their tracks and you can even search for tracks and cut out all those affiliated to a PRO. Pros and cons? Thanks again!
Hey Chris! It always amazes me that some top sellers aren't affiliated with a PRO, I really don't think there are any downsides to registering your AJ songs with a PRO and personally don't see it affecting sales negatively.
The issue I’ve been having with audio jungle, aside from rejections, which i don’t mind, is uploading photos. Their 80cmx80cm deal seems to drive me crazy.... where do you find your photos for upload?
The Last_Saint I resize the images in photoshop. You can also do that with the preview app if you don’t have photoshop and you’re using a Mac. On PC I’m not too sure but I’m certain there is some free software you can download
Stevie B Music it might be I’m not using the right photos, because after i resize, it’s far too pixelated... I’m gonna try to make a illustrator image. That way it can be a vector file.....
In theory yes, although few customers pay performance royalty fees for the use of the license. Meaning you would only likely see performance royalties for tracks which get licensed to tv shows or radio for example, which are required to pay PRO fees.
Robert Owen I think it’s a good idea to join a PRO for any songwriter period. You can always join one later and update it with your catalogue at any point in time, but you run the risk of missing out on some potential royalties. Tbh, it’s not all that likely you’ll receive much or any performance royalties from stock music until you’ve made significant sales, but imo it’s just good practice to cover your bases when it comes to your intellectual property. You’re entitled to those earnings! 😊
Robert Owen ah I see, ya that’s annoying that it’s an upfront fee. For me personally it comes in handy for my band as we do get some royalty kick back from radio play, but honestly I haven’t collected any from stock music sales as of yet but you never know where your track might land. Better to be safe than lose out on potential earnings imo
I want to know if your audiojungle or pond5 if your selling your music on those platforms can that lead to sync licensing so you can receive residual income
If I remember correctly, I think you can deal with that later but I'm not totally sure. The form you sill out is called a W8 BEN, it's not as complicated as it seems. There's quite a few videos on youtube about how to fill it out properly, I'd recommend just getting it out of the way before you get started. All you need is your social insurance number pretty much, and then you fill out your tax info based on your country's agreement with the US

@@Steven_Beddall That's what I was afraid of, imma look into that but taxes always are a headache when you're not from the us
Can you put the same song on other platforms? Also, if I copyrighted my music through copyright.gov, can I still do this? Might be stupid questions but jw
You can put the same songs on other platforms if you're a non exclusive author. As for copyright.gov I assume it should be fine but I'm not totally familiar with US copyright laws so worth looking into. I recommend asking on their public user forums!
Allen Crouch yes I believe so, just make sure to read the restrictions for each license category but the standard license will cover you for most single use scenarios
i have audiojungle licences track song without watermark. i bought from my friend. but he did'nt give me licence. is this safe to use in my youtube video or not. without giving discription
Hey! excellent video! i am right now finish your video, and i check your profile on AudioJungle and i see that you now was sold 77 licences, congrats!. Cuestion: how much is in US dollars? how much time you are selling music on AUdio Jungle? Sorry for my english!
@@Steven_Beddall That link is pretty useless. I'll explain it more clearly - there's an author fee, a buyer fee and a tax withholding fee - add them all together and call it the 'Envato fee' - that's what goes to Envato, the rest goes to you as the author. And this is as an exclusive author....don't even think about earning a penny if you're not at least exclusive.
loot6 I currently earn an average of about a $100 USD a month and I haven’t uploaded anything onto AJ in almost 6 months. I was making a lot more before I got busy with other projects. It’s about catalogue volume and quality. Also, I am a non exclusive author. Yes, the fees are high, but most people who think that it’s impossible to earn any money on from micro sync licensing gave up after their first couple rejections.
@@Steven_Beddall Yes I was just remarking that how the fees actually work since that link is misleading. They literally take a larger share than you do even though you're doing all the work. You're basically an actor and they're the agent, but normally an actor's agent does an awful lot of work and only takes 10% or so.
Stevie B Music I understood, the same what happens in audiojungle. I am an audiojungle composer. My profile is IMUSI. I am wondering put my music de in other librareis. What do you would recommend?

you all have a problem! none of you is able to produce music that stands out from the others. everything sounds the same. i am not a composer but a friend of mine started writing music for Audiojungle about 2 years ago. Music in the style of the perfect Hollywood sound. fully orchestrated scores in the genre action drama etc did not sell a piece of music under 100 dollars and for TV its prices were over 1000 dollars ..... in one year over 2500 sales with pre-tax sales of 180,000 US dollars. !!! one thing is fact. good music is bought and for more money. For I wouldn't pay the cheap loop dudel dudel like a cola and a Big Mac! Makes a difference whether you make loop music or coherent, self-building music (BSP Two steps from hell) In this music there is not a loop to be found and something like that pulls people under its spell and manipulates them accordingly. the film industry also has something like that. but nobody needs lops loops loops. sorry for my honesty ;-)

You retain intellectual ownership always and the right to use it elsewhere. Basically, sites like AJ and Pond 5 license your music to buyers to use for their projects without copyright infringements. Depending on the type of license, there are some restrictions on how the buyer can use your song.
Stevie B Music right on, thanks.
Iv never heard of this. Is it a music platform? Ive been trying to get my music to be heard in general but this made me curious
It’s a music library for licensing songs mostly for video content 😊
@Stevie B - I just joined Pond5, and I do not see any information regarding tagging beats before they are uploaded. Do you have any information on this?
You first upload you r music, then you have the option to 'edit' the uploaded file which will show up under your uploads, there you can add all the relevant information and tags!.
Stevie B Music Sorry, I should have specified. I mean beat tags/watermarks on the actual audio. Not tags for searching results.
@@dialekmusic298 Oh I see, well that's the best part about Pond 5, they do that for you :)
Do you get broadcast royalties for them as well via your PRO?
If they are being used on terrestrial or satellite radio, or television. Otherwise, collecting PRO royalties isn't likely
@@Steven_Beddall Got you, thanks very much for the video and reply :)
I love the video, but is Pond5 and audio jungle still relevant in 2024
Audiojungle no, Pond 5 I still make sales though
@@Steven_Beddall is there a place you’d recommend for someone trying to break into the biz
The tracks must be copyrighted before uploaded correct?
You agree to their terms when you upload, which is to say that it is your intellectual property but you’re not required to prove copyright status
@@Steven_Beddall What's the benefit of registering with PRO?
I've got 50 tracks online on P5 and 5 sales so far.
For how long? What's your library name? :)
@@Zylinderz Around a year since first upload, my library name - Monoxidas, could you give me some advice?
I listened to your songs. but none of them are suitable for market sound. I suggest you apply the math in popular songs and take it as an example.
@@ilkerdsgn I'm not sure what you mean but thanks for checking :)
@@mintmono7675 You should make songs for popular beat and sound.Think of the pond5 like a market, not like an art exhibition.
Do you upload full length tracks, like 3 mins long or is short tracks suitable as well, like 1:30?
Most of my tracks are under 2 mins
@@Steven_Beddall That's good to know. Too bad Audio Jungle aren't accepting new music authors right now. Gonna have to try Pond5 👍🏾
@@DisInfoWars ya it sucks but there’s lots of other libraries out there! Pond 5 is a good place to start 👍
How does it work out if your set up with a PRO (ascap or bmi).
You just submit your PRO info when you upload a track
Also would having your songs registered through your pro allow you to receive performance royalties for the music that’s being licensed?
In theory yes, although few customers pay performance royalty fees for the use of the license. Meaning you would only likely see performance royalties for tracks which get licensed to tv shows or radio for example, which are required to pay PRO fees.
nice info, thanks... one question, is it important to join a PRO before you upload to these sites?
Robert Owen I think it’s a good idea to join a PRO for any songwriter period. You can always join one later and update it with your catalogue at any point in time, but you run the risk of missing out on some potential royalties. Tbh, it’s not all that likely you’ll receive much or any performance royalties from stock music until you’ve made significant sales, but imo it’s just good practice to cover your bases when it comes to your intellectual property. You’re entitled to those earnings! 😊
@@Steven_Beddall Thanks for the info. Just wondering as its £100 to join the british one PRS which would mean an initial loss
I want to know if your audiojungle or pond5 if your selling your music on those platforms can that lead to sync licensing so you can receive residual income
got tech it is possible but not very common unfortunately
@@Steven_Beddall hopefully you will keep pushing keep network pond5 and audiojungle is not your final stop but just a steppingstone
hello, can I upload a track I already have on all platforms ?
Thank you for sharing. Really helpful info
My pleasure!
Does anyone know why 123rf does not accept or reject my files? I have been waiting 2 months and still is "Pending"
Weird Clock good question, I’ll have to look into 123RF
Do I have to upload my tax information before start selling? Because i don't have it at the moment and I really don't know how
If I remember correctly, I think you can deal with that later but I'm not totally sure. The form you sill out is called a W8 BEN, it's not as complicated as it seems. There's quite a few videos on youtube about how to fill it out properly, I'd recommend just getting it out of the way before you get started. All you need is your social insurance number pretty much, and then you fill out your tax info based on your country's agreement with the US
@@Steven_Beddall That's what I was afraid of, imma look into that but taxes always are a headache when you're not from the us
Producción En Línea Agreed! It’s a pain for sure
Are these sites good for UK producer? I can make short 30 second intros and outro music for videos very fast.
@@Steven_Beddall awesome thanks for the quick reply!
Hi, I want to buy some track from Audio jungle. can the music be used to upload onto instagram if i purchace the standard license ?
Allen Crouch yes I believe so, just make sure to read the restrictions for each license category but the standard license will cover you for most single use scenarios
thanks for sharing. really good information.
stevie i become seller audiojungle, do you recommend bond5 as well?
Any library where you can make sales, I recommend!
how often do you upload a track? Three times a week?
These days I only got time for about once a week
Can I upload the same songs to each platform? 🤔
As long as your contract is non exclusive
i have audiojungle licences track song without watermark. i bought from my friend.
but he did'nt give me licence.
is this safe to use in my youtube video or not. without giving discription
You would have to check with the author in regards to exclusivity
Hey! excellent video! i am right now finish your video, and i check your profile on AudioJungle and i see that you now was sold 77 licences, congrats!. Cuestion: how much is in US dollars? how much time you are selling music on AUdio Jungle? Sorry for my english!
Been almost a year now!
thanks man :)
So basically after you sell your music, do you give the rights to buyer to use it everywhere without your consent?
Well, there's limitations on how much and for what the song can be used for depending on the types license the buyer purchases.
@@Steven_Beddall does the P5 gave ur music protection? Like P5 can detection if the buyer use ur songs more than agreement?
@@umamahmad6342 not that I’m aware of, better to register with content ID service for that
@@Steven_Beddall it's because P5 is free royalties stock music right? May i have ur p5 and audio jungle link sir?
Hi Stevie! Great video!!how many tracks did you need to produce to earn this value in 2 months? Thank you, a hug
Hi! Probably about a dozen or so at the time I made this video, it may be a bit different nowadays
Thanks for an info man, very useful and inspiring. Just followed you on AudioJungle (Black_Moth).
Cheers man! Good luck to you on AJ, just followed back :)
does it have to be an unreleased track?
Hi Sabine, no it doesn't. As long as you register as a non exclusive author you can upload songs that you've posted on other libraries.
@@Steven_Beddall Thanks a lot. My music is already in spotify and soundcloud and youtube.

Good video!
Thanks!
how much do they take from the earnings !?
help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472943-Envato-Author-Fee-Schedule
More than half lol...you'd be better off selling an app on the Apple or Google app stores where they only take 30%.
You're basically an actor and they're the agent, but normally an actor's agent does an awful lot of work and only takes 10% or so.
how did you get the subscription in Pond5? Is this difficult?
Hey Ivan, not sure what you mean by subscription?

In this music there is not a loop to be found and something like that pulls people under its spell and manipulates them accordingly. the film industry also has something like that. but nobody needs lops loops loops. sorry for my honesty ;-)
