mcfcguvnors well you bumped someone there's only 2 coins worth any money and that is Kew Gardens that's worth 80 quid then there the 1983 2p error coin sold in the martini set its worth a grand there is no other coin worth over a tenner if there is 7 million coins out there it is worthless but if there's only 200,000 then it's worth a good bit
I am loving these videos! I've become an accidental coin collector... Just can't seem to let go of interesting ones! hI have some of these, none of the super rare ones but I'm always looking. I work in a shop so switch nice ones for my own boring ones. And there's a lady in the bank who saves nice 50p coins for me.
Yes, well I'm one of these people. As a window cleaner, I get passed a lot of coins and I hate being given £2 coins....for some strange reason, I hate them and normally give them away in change asap. I've noticed many times some strange looking coins but had absolutely no idea that I could be giving away better than face value coins. That of course changes as of tomorrow, when I'll be taking a lot more interest in what is passed on to me. I have a £2 coin now, with a skull and the words ShakeSpear, maybe this is where I'll start paying more attention.
i used to manage a toll bridge so you can imagine the amount of coinage! I found loads of the undated 20p's, about a dozen Kew Gardens 50p's, loads of different £2 coins and even a full sovereign!! My dad now has a pretty decent collection!!
Hi, I trying to work out this thing with the rare slavery coin. If it’s laid down, with the queens head upper most. Should the words be readable on the side. Or should they are upside down.
I've held on to all the 'duplicates' I have. When the Royal Mint decides to radically change the coins the older coins will go up in value slightly (ebay is a good indicator of this for average values). Best investments are the coins from 'Euro' countries. Most of their citizens cashed in everything not realising that the DM, Lira, Peseta, Franc etc had a value to collectors. Their loss, our gain.
I find alot of cash when I'm out and about, i give them to my son, he's got a good Foreign coin collection thats worth quite a lot, as I'm in London the home of immigration I find alot of European stuff not euros, they just seem to get ditched found a Bulgarian coin on a bench in a playground last week it has the madora rider on it I think its called, from 1990s fleabay says its worth £1.30 which isn't bad for nothing. Hes very proud of his collection although I found most of it, nice coins from as far as Mexico and Ghana, to poland and Ukraine.
Made me look at a £2 I have,it is a (2014 Kitchener, but it has a mint error, the U on the You isn't level, the writing is upside down when the Queens head is facing up, and there are no dots above her head.
the abolition of slavery one has a mint error where the writing on the rim of the coin is facing the wrong way up where it should be facing queen side it can be worth £609
This is clever by the Royal Mint. By making coins collectable like this, they make more money by taking them out of circulation. You have just spent a £100 or less on coins that you're not going to use. Clever on the RM part.

Thank you Christopher, would like my next find to be an Olympic or Commonwealth, The Magna Carta is one of my favs also so I would be happy with that :-)
so why did you say kerching in the video when you found one?, £5 is not worth holding onto £2 for realy, as much as I love my Britannia coin, i'd rather spend it towards bus fair to important job interviews than hold onto it for the sake of £3 profit which would get eaten up in postage, ebay and payapal fees etc, by the time youve done all that youve only made 1 or 2 pounds, I realy thought it would have a better profit than that!
In my more recent videos I've been putting the values in. I avoided it to begin with because people always seemed to get funny with me talking about values

Christopher Collects I dont mind. I like watching your videos and I feel excited everytime you see a variant coin and describe something about it and for me to discover that the coin is valued more than the face value. Oh sorry just realised this is on a £2 video haha sorry. 2015 has the lowest mintage for Britannia on £2 coins I think it's the first year it replaced technologies
When I did the £1 challenge I phoned my local Royal Bank Of Scotland and asked if they'd help me (I was competing with family lol). They set me up with a side room in the branch and let me go through ALL the £1 coins they had! They even gave me coffee while I sat there for hours...my fingers were gross by the end of it :D They all thought I was mad and the whole thing was funny :) It was really fun and my brother made lovely hand crafted wooden settings for the complete sets :)
I found a couple cool 50p coins, stumbled on your channel and now want to start my own collection. Can you just go to the bank and withdraw £500 in 50p coins? Then deposit the rest once your done? Probably a stupid question but thought I'd ask
hi i have some of them coins you have there that you said great pulls?? which i dont know what you mean by that and how do you find there worth more money??? many thanks
Yea they are a low mintage year it's tough to price I've sold them for £5 and then there are weeks they didn't sell all depends if you get the right buyers
What determines that they are worth more than face value? Puzzling...presumably because only 50,000 Mary Rose were minted? People think Penny Blacks are rare and they're as common as a box of matches. Unless they're mint of course...coins need to be ' uncirculated ' surely?
It's all based on mintage figures as you said. Yes Penny Blacks are not cheap haha but they are especially special being the first adhesive postage stamp I guess
A rare coin has a value of say £5 but the SAME Coin in un-circulated condition will often [referred to as Mint Condition] be worth £1000, it is like any collectible item, from a tin toy, artwork or a plain old second hand car, value is all to do with condition. Some collectors will never collect anything other than Mint or Proof Coins, proof coins are selected by the Mint [Gov manufacturer] from the un-circulated coins off the press and then they are boxed and sold on to the public via an offering in the press for 10 x face value or more. Hope that helps. This guy is just looking at the bottom end of the market hoping to make a couple of bucks, but trust me here, all the money is in the Mint/Proof Coins. Keith Spence Numerist since 1965
@@apartmentswales True...thanks for the information although most of it I've heard many times. You certainly seem to know your stuff...my point about stamps rings true though...most people think a Penny Black is worth a lot of money and that simple isn't true of all Penny Blacks. Many very poor examples which are HEAVILY franked can be bought very cheaply. Others which are 'clean' franking wise are worth considerably more. Sometimes with these'newer'coins I get the feeling a market is almost created by word of mouth and then it gathers speed when really there's not much substance to the market at all. people are pretty gullible about these things. I'm constantly amazed by the way 'Royal Wedding' coins are pushed as being a great investment when in reality millions are sold and are pretty worthless...witness Charles&Dianna in 1982...a coin dealer i spoke to said he is offered dozens by punters who believe they are worth a fortune because they are 'uncirculated' but of course they simple aren't.

Hi there love watching your channel and am thinking of doing coin hunting but purely for financial gain im not gonna lie im unable to workdue to disability and need to make as much extra money as possible , could you or someone please tell me how best to sell the coins worth more than face value? Thanks so much in advance 😊 keep up the great channel 👍🏻👍🏻
I made the news with my eBay account my defected coin . And just found some Florence Nightingale 2010 coins where the writing on the rim is back to front on two of them. on the other three they're facing the other way I'm not sure which one is the defect so I'm considering selling them as a job lot or 5 ?
The edge inscription is applied first to a planchet and then the design is struck. So, there is no such thing as upside down writing, the orientation of the edge is completely random. I have no idea which moron on eBay came out with the myth of upside down writing but it means that if you are interested in error coins, you have to wade through this drivel first.
Great coin hunting, lots of good ones there. I can’t seem to find anything other than the Scotland commonwealth coins, found 3 now but still love all the designs. Great video CC 👍
@@ChristopherCollects The lettering around the coin isn't true all the way round it touches the inner circle on the front of coin. So that makes it default? Or is that commen? Thanks for letting me know. 👍
Jace Deakin mines 1975 but I have loads of 1973 1972 and 1971 NEWPENCE coins too . We found a box full of them that were left over in a house clearance.
Jace Deakin as far as I've researched only the 1983 NEWPENCE from the set is worth 400+ but we will see. Something is only worth the amount someone wishes to spend on it.......
got some good ones in there i always thought about going bank to bank doing this but i find it a bit like cheating feel better getting it in my change as it more luck. plus they are really worn a lot of them not best condition i like mine with not a scratch on it.
true am not trying to say anything bad as that is what my grandad told me to do go bank to bank but never did. and sometimes do find a nice crisp clean one in change every now and then but it a lot rare to find one. need to find the date of when the new coin comes out then go to bank get a better chance of getting a nice shiny new one fresh from the press. have you been to royal mint experience yet.
I have a Charles dickens £2 which seems to have 3 defects on. 1.The stars round the queens head only go half way round. 2.something will turn up is upside down. 3.The word WILL is spelt WIII. Do you think it could be worth more then face value if so how much?
Erm it's tough to say the dots missing is quite common and writing around the edge being upside down happens a lot too. If you join the discord and post a picture we can have a look

You can try ebay or Facebook. I'll be honest though you need to be super lucky or go through an absolute ton of coins to make a living from it
I made the news with my eBay account my defected coin . And just found some Florence Nightingale 2010 coins where the writing on the rim is back to front on two of them. on the other three they're facing the other way I'm not sure which one is the defect so I'm considering selling them as a job lot or 5 ?
Haha nice one! The writing on the rim being the other way around is quite common to find I'm sorry to tell you
Christopher Collects thanks for sharing that , is that with all coins or just that £2 coin?
Christopher Collects on my £1 2016 coin the Queen's crown goes off the silver and onto the gold part of the coin.

Is the Olympic handover rare?
It's not very common
Christopher Collects
I’ll hold on to it then! Cheers!
Would have been nice if you had given us an estimate of the total value of the haul.
That's a good shout I put approx values on my newer videos though
The total value is £1,000
Great coin hunting, lots of good ones there. I can’t seem to find anything other than the Scotland commonwealth coins, found 3 now but still love all the designs. Great video CC 👍
Can you do this with 50p and can you try and find the Tom kitten one that my friend has
I post 2 50p hunts every week
Oh
I will watch them!
How much does the WWF 2011 50p coin fetch just out of interest mate??
Up to £1.20 On a good day
oh I thought it was rare 😩
What if you have a scahawien Indian dollar icon with no date on the head side and 1621 on the back? :-)
I have no idea sorry
I've got the Commonwealth Northern Ireland one - how much do they go for now?
I sold one a few months ago for £32
OK, thanks
Packing no punches with this one, buddy..
Keep up the great content, lovely finds too..

I have a question for you what do you do with the one were you get the same one again can you place let me know
Why did I just watch 17 minutes worth of two pound coins?
I'm not sure I hope you enjoyed though
@Jimmi K i never found out dude...i am still trying to climb out of the rabbit hole! I haven't been to work for 2 months!!! (help)
I've got a 2015 anniversary of the golden gunia 2pound coin. I didn't see u have one how much are they worth.?
That aren't the most common coin but still only about face value sorry
@@ChristopherCollects The lettering around the coin isn't true all the way round it touches the inner circle on the front of coin. So that makes it default? Or is that commen? Thanks for letting me know. 👍
It's tough to say without seeing it if you can post a picture on Discord I'll take a look
I've listed a 2p coin covered in mis-stuck defects never seen a coin like it before so no idea of its worth . It's a new pence 2p coin.
Oh that sounds interesting
It depends on what date if it is 1983 or 1973 it is worth some think but if not it is worth 2p your welcome
Jace Deakin Miss struck coins are worth way more than face value with any date on!
I got £25 for brand new 2p that was messed up!
I own 2 convenience stores and come across these every day! They are a lot more common than what this video portrays!
A lot are very common but commonwealth games isn't
So can I just ask for coins from the bank? Like get money out in coins... I’ve been collecting coins for awhile only just finding this out lol 🤣😑
Yes most bank will do it for you
Hi christopher. Do you sell any of the coins that you already have on- line or do you swap then at coin meets/fairs.
I did sell them on eBay but the fees have changed for me which puts me off using eBay going forwards so I am looking at alternatives
got some good ones in there i always thought about going bank to bank doing this but i find it a bit like cheating feel better getting it in my change as it more luck. plus they are really worn a lot of them not best condition i like mine with not a scratch on it.
Fair enough each to their own. How do you get them in pristine condition from shops though?
true am not trying to say anything bad as that is what my grandad told me to do go bank to bank but never did. and sometimes do find a nice crisp clean one in change every now and then but it a lot rare to find one. need to find the date of when the new coin comes out then go to bank get a better chance of getting a nice shiny new one fresh from the press. have you been to royal mint experience yet.
@@giggity4670 you kinda just messed up there you will never get one without a scratch (the still rub together in the till) causing minor ones
At 13:10 the coin without the silver insert...is that not a rarity now?
Sadly it was a fake but I kept it anyway
@@ChristopherCollects
How much would a real one be worth I have 2 but there both different?
Yeah these coins are not mint. So worth little
Yea not as much as mint condition but a few are worth more than face value
Are the coins with queens necklace still collectable?
Nah they have such a high mintage even more than the most common commemorative
How about the one with a 'pearl' necklace?
@@crumpeteer6477 yea i got a few of them
@@ChristopherCollects i dont see any hardly these days. The only reason i have 12 is because im in retail.

@@ChristopherCollects new to channel how do i join?
The time is 08:52AM, I have been awake nearly 24 hours... Why am I watching this?

Haha i find the same with Pokemon card opening I've not had Pokemon cards since the 90s but I swear I can smell that fresh card smell watching the videos very odd haha 🤣
I have a charles dickens £2 coin from 2012. Some sell on ebay for afew pound were as others sell for afew thousand. Whats the difference
There's been a big thing about it. It's just sensationalist news not to be trusted sorry
can i have the ones you're not collecting? haha
Haha nice try 🤣
Which is the the most rare? I collect them but haven’t looked as close as this.
Rarest £2 is commonwealth games Northern Ireland
@@ChristopherCollects how much do they sell for ??
What do you do with all those that are over face value.
Guess what I'm doing I'm doing 450 pounds worth
Oooh good luck 🤞🤞🤞
Christopher Collects I commented on another vid on sponges world and it showed the coins I got from my 40 pounds
On my 2nd channel
Not on this channel
Oh I see ill check it out after work then!
Hi Christopher. I've got 3 of the Commonwealth games coins for England, Wales & I think..Scotland. Any idea of a rough value?
Depending on getting the right buyers between £8-£20 more for the lower the mintage
When you see him getting all the coins you need. 😭
I'm sorry come over to the discord and you can show me the ones your getting that I need seen so many people getting the A-Z 10ps I'm very jealous haha
I've got a battle of Hastings 50p cause I have and my mum says that no one will buy it cause it isn't worth anything. How much is it worth?
I spent a Kew Gardens 50p on crisps.......didn't realise its value was a bit gutted when i found out lol!
Oh no! If they were frazzles that would be worth it though
Transformer snacks unfortunately lol!
Hmm still tasty haha they are my wife's favourite crisps

what swaps would you give for the Rio Olympic handover?
Is the Ireland commonwealth £2 worth much?
Oh yes NI commonwealth is £24-£32 which is nice! I wouldn't swap it's the hunt that I enjoy
Can I have some
I have £80 worth of diffrent £2 coins im so unsure of what to do with them. How do i find out the value for each one? Ebay dont seem to help as they sell at all diffrent prices. Just an hour ago i got a £2 magna carta 1215 - 2015 whatever that is. Oh well another to add to my collection
Have a look at eBay and filter to finished auctions for a good estimate. You could join the discord too we can give you an idea of value
