Looks like the entire game is player-driven, which is awesome!! I love the look of this. I had never heard of it so thank you for putting it on my radar.

You are correct! It is entirely player-driven. Nothing in the game happens because of the game doing something. It's all based on the decisions of the players and how you react to that. My favorite type of game!! Obviously you can be at the mercy of the dice rolling, but the game lets you decide when to play risky or when to play safe. I'm always happy to share a new game with you! Hope you get to try it!

Thank you so much! I found this video particularly difficult to make for some reason. The game is not that hard, but there were a lot of little fiddly rules to cover. So I am glad you found this helpful!!! Happy gaming!

Amazing video bro! That player aid is 🔥🔥🔥 I love all the examples you give when you teach, I feel like I could play this right now without even reading the rules. I neeeeed to find a copy of this game, it looks like a primitive version of Western Legends!

You nailed it; it’s like an OG Western Legends, but less sandboxy and more focused! I forgot to make that comparison in the video, but this does remind me of that game vaguely. Personally, I’d choose WoW any day over Western Legends. I kinda got tired of WL after about 5 plays. I never get tired of WoW!! Thanks for watching, and for the kind words! That player aid took WAY too long to make; BGG needs to hurry up and approve my submission 😅😂

Excellent teach! This one is definitely on my radar. It appears that the theme of this game would really help to remember the rules. Ex. the connection between the stagecoaches and cowboys and the cows and farmers and how they score money and points.

Thanks! Yes, you are correct. The rulebook is absolutely horrific, but if you think of the game thematically, those fiddly rules are pretty easy to remember. It's a tough teach (as I found out from trying to keep this video under 1hr. and show proper examples). But once you learn it, it's really quite simple. It's one of those games that's not perfect, but it's consistently a hit when we bring it out. It's fun to throw on a Clint Eastwood movie in the background and have a beer while playing. I would never turn down a game of this! Thanks for watching as always! :)

It’s a lot of fun. I would’ve covered this game a long time ago, but all these years I had just assumed it was more well-known (being a Wallace game and early worker placement). I never realized how unknown it actually was till we played again this year and I went to look up a rule clarification on BGG. Then I was like, whoa! This one definitely needs some UG video treatment!! 😅 Thanks for watching! 😎

nice work on the player aid! I was unaware of this game until just now....awhile back I was looking for a game to replace A Few Acres of Snow, which did not appeal to my wife. I ended up purchasing both London & Mythotopia, so for now I have 2 other (oldish) Martin Wallace titles I need to get played!

Thank you! I also have London and Mythotopia! I love so many of Wallace’s old games. It’s hard to go wrong with any of them really. I have yet to try Mythotopia. I really like London, though! Let me know how you like those when you get around to trying them!

Another rad video my dude. Looks amazing. Have you played the western themed Pony Express? It's a gambling, bluffing, Roll and move dexterity game. You use dice that look like poker cards to make combos to move, but you can lie. If your bluff gets called or someone lands on your space you gun fight. You place your meeples across the board and roll dice at each other. If you knock them over you get a reward and they get something negative. It's really fun actually. There is also Cowboys: Way of the Gun. It's basically a gun fight simulation.

I haven’t played either of those, but they both look like awesome candidates for my channel!! Thanks for the tips. I’ll be sure to let you know if/when I try them. Pony Exp is a collab between Bauza and Faidutti??!! Way cool!! 🤩🤩🤩

I picked this game up today after watching this video. My big question for you is what is the best player count in your experience?

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

That's awesome! I really hope you like it as much as we have over the years! As I mentioned in the review, this is one game I will happily play at any player count. 3p is a bit less tense & you can plan more long term strategies. 4-5p is much more competitive (which I like). So if I had to choose, I would say 4p is probably the sweet spot. It seems to strike a good balance of everything without getting _too_ crazy.
But the game really has a unique feel at all player counts, which I like for different reasons. This is one of those games where the synergies between the buildings/transports/cowboys/cattle take on different importance at different player counts. It almost offers completely different strategies at 3p vs. 4p vs. 5p.
Even the bidding for turn order has a much different feel at each player count too. At 5p I've found the bids tend to go higher because no one wants to go 5th, which leads to money being tighter than it already is. At 3p the bidding for turn order usually only goes once around because someone will almost always drop out and go 3rd without bidding anything. Yet even with the less exciting bids for turn order, 3p is still quite enjoyable because you get 3 more rounds to build up your stuff, which has a little more "feel good" flavor. But gunfights will happen a lot, even at 3p.
In conclusion, if you try the game at a certain player count and don't enjoy it for some reason, _definitely_ try it at a different player count and see how the game changes. Regardless, it definitely takes a learning game to get a feel for it, and in my experience it gets better the more you play it. Let me know how you like it!

This is exactly the kind of player count response I was hoping you would provide. The ins and outs of how and why player numbers can change the game. I also wanted to give a big thanks to you for your channel because its led me to buying several “unknown to me” games at this point. I have bought KAHUNA, KING ARTHUR the card game, Kronen fur den Konig, Robin of Locksley and Way Out West.

So cool!! I really appreciate your comment. I always love to hear feedback from viewers on my recommendations. I genuinely love sharing this stuff with the world, and it's awesome to hear firsthand how my videos are impacting people out there! All those are awesome picks. Kronen Fur Den Konig is probably the most unknown game I've ever covered! :) @@marksherlock2389
