People hate Lair and I get it. It’s a truly jarring and confusing map for people who take a long time to learn and pick up map layouts. I’m truly not the best player or the sharpest clothes hanger in the fridge, but I have a very strong directional ability and can fully learn and pickup the layouts and available rotates of the majority of maps after a few play throughs… Ive done a number of custom map walk throughs on it, played a number of games and probably 50 or so DMs on the map and I’m still learning it. That being said, if it sticks around in comp, I truly believe it will become the most intricate and deep map in the history of the game. It is so unique and every single bomb site is extremely well balanced. There’s an amazing mix of inside to outside walls, unique soft destruction features and vertical play options on every single bomb site. I’m also someone who generally believes that maps play better when attackers have a really high number of options at their disposal to get into the building unscathed. It breeds the best gunplay, unique gadget use and smartest use of roam setups. Lair provides all of this. I think dropping Oregon instead of Clubhouse and to a lesser extent Kafe is a mistake, but on the whole I’m very happy with the change.
@@highgroundr6 Not a single one. The competitive FPS community and the professional communities first, second or third opinions on new maps or map reworks are never to be trusted under any circumstance. They would play out the exact same rounds in the exact same way over and over again until they die before they are forced to learn and adapt to change. If they had their way the game would have faded out like a wet fart and died at the turn of year four. The 50 people still playing the game before the servers were turned off could then sit and commiserate over their days wasted playing Jager acog on house over and over and over again.
I suck at lair but i always try and get it or another odd map like emerald plains when facing against better teams in ranked. Since if both teams don't know all the common spots it helps equalize the match compared to Oregon where they know all the common spots already.
Thank god, Oregon is played out to oblivion and there is nothing new or interesting in it other than the Azami barrier pixel peek on the Laundry table, hopefully Border is gonna be next one to be removed, I would like to see Emerald Plains tested in Pro league as well.
@@highgroundr6Bro Club House is Siege, the map as old as it is it's proven to be very flexible and the new ops can change the flow of how Club is played, Kafe on the other hand has indeed somewhat plateaued and plays out similarly but I think it has more potential for Explosive Amaru rounds or lurks to site (which we have seen Faze Clan master at SI), while Border is way too small so it's limited and teams are forced most of the time to play Standard set ups and attacks.
@@highgroundr6 Aswell as the comeptetivness of a map I enjoy the feeling and Lair doesn't feel right with a lot of the basement looking the same and having way to many rooms over 10 rooms that can only be accesed in a one way circle (Oregon has got 6 in the basement and they are all connected, By rooms I am counting freezer, bottom laudnry stairs, laundry, supply, blue and hp, it is almost 1 room with many walls while on Lair it can take a long time to get from Missile to Flitration because of all the rooms and angles it creates) . Also compared to other maps it feels a lot larger and monotone.
Feel like removing oregon makes some sense as it's kinda stale and is almost always a 4-2 half but still love playing it. Really excited to see how pros play Lair I'm sure the 1st floor sites will be the best sites in pro play/
@@highgroundr6 everyone in ranked is brainwashed to go 2f, basement then 1st regardless of map. But both the first floor sites are rly strong to have a few anchor and vert play could end up being similar to Kafe in that sense

@@0ZeroreZ0 I feel like the tertiary sites on the first floor have enough wiggle room that interesting things still happen on bank. Basement and 2nd floor for sure have seen their uniqueness used up. i think putting unpopular maps in the pro league pool is a great way to showing us regulars, how to play the map correctly
Lots of people will go from braindead/no strats to just copying what they see pros do

@@highgroundr6 The fact that people still religiously ban Consulate and Labs in my ranked games is actually insane
Basement site needs attention imo the other 3 sites are alright tho

Ive always wanted them to add yacht 😔
It might not go well, but it would be fun for a while
Villa should have returned there was still more potential
Not having grenade cooking should change how it plays too
I wish they would’ve kept Oregon in anyways

Perhaps it will return one day
