ahhhh man those were the days. where tanking a hit that takes you below 1 bar would result in an instant win. Also, anyone who could double light like Warden or Orochi absolutely melted him cause of the Passive Stance defence debuff. good times.

we are a kind destined to be hated, yet destined to rule over all
Sugoki was hated at launch because getting enviormental kills was laughably easy (I know, I was *that* Sugoki player) and the instant killing hug when at low health, but I don’t know anything else other than that, I left the game but might pick it up again.
Shugoki feels like a playable boss but he didn't get nerfed when you unlocked him
He has a massive health pool, powers through most things with hyper armor, and when you get hit, there goes 20%-30% of your health bar
Shrekgoki will continue to live on and defend his swamp from invading savages
Shugo is my main since my first online match in this game. I'm so happy to see he's now a more versatile and useful character, i used to really stuggle to be good at him, mostly abusing the hyper armor and the unpredictable timing. Now he's a fucking juggernaut, that's just fantastic. :D
Yeah i have been playing him quite a lot recently. Its fun getting kills without actually using any brain. Not so fun for anyome else though

I kind of miss thebway he was; he was hard to use effectively but simultaneously had absurdly overpowered aspects.
Now he's really easy to play, which kind of takes away from the fun imo. (at the same time, it's nice that he can throw lights now)

3:09 actually his punish is now (any attack that knocks down) into whiffed headbutt ,charged top heavy, and then either a regular heavy or a forward dodge hug.

Lmao, he’s still trash. His head butt starts are super easy to read/dodge and his heavies are even easier to parry. Especially if you have a dodge attack.

I was inspired to try Shugoki after I saw one 1v4 a entire team and walked out like it was nothing. My first match with him, I did nothing but spam Top Heavy and got 4 kills in a row. I think I found my new favorite hero

How to instantly make your opponent know he won’t have fun right from the character selection screen
Best way to play him is to spam the hug or the headbut after the first attack.

I love your vids. It’s sad though that they needed shteddy. I don’t think they should have, but still.
I'm very happy. I used to main Shugoki before all of his reworks and changes, back when he was one of the worst in the game. His headbutt used to only come after lights and his hug used to insta-kill when he was about to die. It used to be difficult to do anything as a Shugo in 1v1 back when Shaman and the Wu Lin were the most recent DLC and everyone was parrying all of my lights. Winning duels with him was such a chore but it felt so rewarding. In his current state, I feel confident going into almost anyone because charged heavies screw people over. My entire personality actually changes when I play Shugo. It's funny to me how both the Samurai heavies are hard to deal with because of their variable-timing heavy attacks. I lowkey wish they kept his previous soft feints into hugs but I'm willing to part with those because of how funny it looks to kill someone with a headbutt. Thanks for the spotlight for shrekgoki, Marco Yolo.

Shugoki seems to be in a good spot right now because I tried playing Shugoki before but I just really didn't like his previous kit early into the game's lifespan.

its not a headbutt, its a bite, shugoki actually drinks your blood and it heals him when he stretches, which is why he gets health from demons embrace

Been a shugo main since the game released and I love that my big guy is on top now.
Irony of shugoki, hes played up to be the goofy character in for honor, being a big Fatman. But there is nothing more scary than seeing a high rep shugoki, those guys are ready to kick your ass back to the time where Centurion still had his cutscene attack.

Tbh, you should do shaman next. Mainly because the idea of teammates interrupting shugokis back break reminded me of teammates interrupting shamans bite.
Quick tip to anyone with staggering blow but regular hyper armor (not revenge bc it's revenge) negates the knockdown effect, so if your a jorm, hito, jj, literally anyone with ha (again not revenge ha) will negate the staggering blow effect.
Shugoki is probably one of the oddest heroes in the game. His main abilities allow him to throw his weight around and bulldoze the enemy. If you’re an aggressive player you basically have to unlearn everything and respect his space or get comboed.
I only use the throw further with shugo. But majority of people on console don’t choose the map so i choose any place that has hazards and i let the salt roll in

Man, I used to suck at Shugoki. Maybe cause I played him like I played every other hero, just using lights and waiting for parries. I never really charged the heavy unblockable.
But then I watched Toeknee play Shugoki, and now I'm rep 3 with the guy. Wanna rep him up more sometime soon.
tip for low rep players as soon you are done with a hug you can guard break again and go for another hug Its broken if they dont know what to do it helped me a ton :)

Back in my day the headbutt didn't ledge and only did stamina damage (but was still good for destroying your opponents' morale).
And when you missed a back break you did damage to yourself.
And you had neutral hyper armor but you took more damage when it was broken.
And he had a cool run thing that could knock people down and ledge.
And the double heavy attack zone thing
And the back break could one shot...
