    @The mech a nic
    You are the absolute greatest! My 2015 Versa Note SR is having major issues - ignition coils (blowing up per my former mechanic), oil on plugs, dreaded flashing check engine light followed by full engine kill, which is super fun on the interstate.
    I’ve used this vid to change out the plugs, and tomorrow, I’m going back in to do gaskets on manifold, valve cover, and throttle body. Thank you again! You have saved me hundreds of dollars! I wish I could just replace this car, but used cars are ridiculously expensive right now.
    Anyway, I wish you all the best!!!!

    Great video.... dealer quoted $780 for this job. I just bought spark plugs for $18 (set of 4) & ignition coils $42 (set of 4) on eBay, followed all the steps from this helpful video and with a little bit of help with a neighbor and his tools, after 1 hr time well spent, I could do it all by myself. Thank you a lot for the video Sir.

      Hi Jonathan, Thank you for the advice. Yes.. I did bit of research before buying NGK sparkplugs (PLZKAR6A-11) which turned out to be exact model match to what I pulled out of my versa SV sedan 2012. I can't couldn't be so sure of the coils but, they looked good too and brand new. Thanks a lot once again... your videos are giving me a lot of confidence to do few DIYs on my car. My next jobs are brakes, SVT fluid change followed by front bearings. I've looked at some of your videos related to these new jobs and in the process getting the parts. I am already a huge of your videos... so, please keep those coming.

    Easily the TH-cam video of the year for me. Had CEL and took it to the stealership, and the fault code was P0302, which is a misfire in cylinder 2. Coil and spark plug replacement, the stealership gave me an estimate of $2,000. Many thanks to you, I was able to do this for less than $200, I replaced all 4 coils and 4 spark plugs; I mean why not? I might as well right? That $200 also included a set of cheap ratchet set.

    Great advice, thank you. Had an 02 Altima V6. When we did the plugs the idle did have to be relearned. Our 3k scan tool would not save the idle relearn parameters. Hey !!! Thanks for the video. I just did the job today and it went very well. Your video was very detailed and easy to follow. I did have to buy a bolt extractor set to remove the 5 lower fasteners on the intake because the existing bolts were very rusted and stripped easily. I didn’t mind. I look for any excuse to buy new tools for my collection. Of course I also replaced the rusted bolts with new ones from Nissan. $30 for 5 bolts shipped. And installed new intake and throttle body gaskets while I was there. Oh yeah I also replaced the coil boots. Hopefully I won’t have to do this job again in the future, but if I do, I know I can reference your video for help. Thanks again for the awesome video.

    Great video. Very detailed. Just 2 suggestions. Spark plug manufacturers recommend not using anti seize because it changes the friction and makes it easy to over torque and strip the threads. Also on the spark plugs the new iridium plugs are very brittle and are not meant to be gapped by the consumer.

    • @themechanic6117

      Not at all. If the coils are still working generally they're fine. If your car has over 100k miles on the original ignition coils they might be worth changing to avoid having to do the whole job over. To answer your question, it's not necessary to change coils if they still work

    Typical of Nissan to make it more inconvenient than it should be to change the spark plugs. I had an 2011 Elantra and the once you pop off the engine cover you have access to the spark plugs. Just changed some on an e46 BMW 3 push pins 4 t30 torx screws and the 2nuts 2 bolts for the engine cover that was it honestly.

Did you disconnect the battery before the work or leave it connected?
