I watched this one earlier, I just ran back into it again.
And the whole time I'm watching this I'm wondering, while you're waiting for the new strut to arrive (which is really cool that they sent you a replacement part), why didn't you just grab your knife and cut a stick and whittle the ends to fit?
It would work for a week, or until you got a replacement part.
