  • A Column Multimedia Speaker featuring an Android head unit powered off a 12V power supply. The head unit features Apple Carplay, bluetooth and more. Built with off-cut wood from my workshop stash, this came out very nicely indeed, and it sounds fantastic. The speaker is on wheels and has a pull-out handle to allow you to cart it around. The column full range enclosure stores securely in the back of the bass unit for a compact and transportable speaker.

All it needs now is some disco balls attached to the column speaker and you have yourself a elementary school disco.

I admire your precision and design. Make no mistake about it, this may be stereo mixed, but they are very powerful and sound great. I am sure some Li-on batteries would be a simple add and since its already on wheels (and already on the heavy side), no big deal.

Nice idea, but it sounds a bit underpowered. Maybe try bolting in one of those 36v two channel aliexpress amplifers to give the subs more power.

Really I have inspired by ur work nd for this project I have some suggestions to that pokes me finishing of those box and gaps were not filled properly but if gone across your old project awesome finish that too fine crafted but in this project something lags @SB

    • @SoundBlab
      @SoundBlab  ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks. It's all about goals vs outcome. In this project I did not try to build an audiophile quality speaker. It was a more fun project using off-cuts in my workshop and a bit experimental, trying a few new concepts and ideas and putting out a project that can inspire. From this perspective, I feel that it was a success, but I appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

what is the reason the stereo satellite speakers are placed on the top.. why not placed next to the subwoofer

Thanks! For one, I like the way it looks, it also forms an array, which throws sound further and has better off-axis response.

Although I appreciate the project and the solution gone into the finished speaker, in somewhat disappointed...
You have always made speaker with excellent finish and impeccable build quality. In this project or seems like you have been pressed for time and cut several corners along the way to the finish line.
Just sad to see the poor build quality and the lack at finish. The way you fitted the psu in the enclosure is just sad, and the use of screws on visible surface..😕
Why not use a multi connector for the top? It's just all too easy to get the connections wrong and wire the top out of fase.
Also a possibility to run on batteries would have been a good feature.
I'm still a follower, but hope to see you back to the normal standard in the coming build.

I am sorry to hear that. However, my aim was to use some off-cut wood in the workshop and do a build that is less serious. This is not intended to be a high-end build at all, but hopefully a fun project that will inspire some to go out and try something like this themselves. So, I kept it simple using basic materials, showing that not every project needs to be audiophile. I actually spend a lot of time on the project, it was not a rush at all. I like the outcome and am very proud of the concept and idea. I am also happy with the finish, since this is what I intended, and thus meets my goals I set out in the beginning. There are many things I could have done differently, and a multi-connector is and option as are batteries, but I wanted to keep it simple, not overcomplicating it with additional circuitry. Again for me a matter of goals set for a desired outcome.
I will be back in the new year with some more exciting projects that will cater for my more concerning viewers. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it, and keep watching this space!

@@SoundBlab Thank you for the prompt answer and explanation and thoughts before and under the build. I'm looking forward to the coming projects.
Would it be possible to dig a little deeper into the calculations on which the enclosures are made? What are your aim as to lower end limitations and what tools do you use?
      Keep up the great work!👍
