One of the best! Known in India as "musicians musician" Music endowed with bhava, bhakti, intelligence, creativity, and rhythmic brilliance.

Fifty years ago I bought a double album sampler on the Nonesuch label, and ten years later I passed it on to somebody. A couple of hours ago I downloaded a track list for the album. That explains why I am now listening to an album I have never heard, by a guy I've never heard of, which happens to open with a song I've heard hundreds of times. Thanks a lot for this. P.S. The thing I'm finding is that because I know the first track so well, I really know the guy's voice, and that makes for a very enjoyable listen, thanks again ........................

Edward - thanks for putting this one on. I bought the LP 45 years ago. I have the LP but no deck! He's brilliant and the second and 4th songs are my favourites. They really tug your heartstrings. I looked him up. Ramad Krishnan, the singer, died around 1975. He has brought me many hours of pleasure so I am grateful to his art and memory. Ars longa - vita brevis. I'm surprised that south Indian music isn't better known in the west. I have played this to several girlfriends and wives in my life - and none ever liked it. Thanks again - best wishes and treasure your LP.

One of the better ways of introducing Carnatic Music to Western Audiences is by exposing them to songs played in instruments like Violin, Veena etc. and as next step them to take them to a concerts or now we have lot of video recordings of Vocal signing. Ramnad Krishanan, MD Ramanathan , KV Naryanaswamy etc. are some of the greatest Carnatic Singers ever and it takes bit of patience listening before you start falling in love with their renditions.

I bought a copy of this LP almost 50 years ago and wore it out. I was real happy to find a digitally remastered CD of it that was briefly released by Warner in Japan.

If my remembrance is correct, it should have been in early 68 or 69. Mr Krishnan was in the faculty of Wesleyan University, Connecticut in 1967. He had to return to India in the same year. Before his departure to India, this recording was made
