      Close 😁. Resin is cured, remove tape dam, sand down lip edge on resin, clean, draw lines & allow to dry, apply new tape dam, pour clear coat top layer, remove tape dam after one hour. Next day remove taped edges for clean sides.

    Did you prep the back of the canvas? I've seen videos where they pour a bit of resin in the back, not too much, though. They say if you don't do this step, the front of the canvas might be indent because of the weight of the resin and crushed glass? Also, the link for the moon rocks didn't work for me.

    Hello, beautiful work, just wondering do you frame your pieces? Is that why you tape the edges?

    • @MoonkusserArt
      @MoonkusserArt  ปีที่แล้ว

      This artwork is on an artist panel. I finish the sides first and then tape off before doing the resin work. The sides create a clean look and can act like a frame. Option is then up to the buyer if they want to frame it.

    So you only mix one color at a time? While you are working with one color is your mixture of part a and part b just sitting until you are ready to add another color? Or do you keep making a small cup of a and b then add your color then make another a and b then add another color???

    • @MoonkusserArt
      @MoonkusserArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. I made 3 very small batches of resin one at a time over 1.5 hours. First batch was clear for moon rocks and a silver for crushed glass. Second batch was 3 colors, silver, aquamarine, and white. Third batch was 2 colors, mermaid, and teal with glitter in it. The General Use Epoxy Resin - www.theepoxyresinstore.com/products/crystal-clear-epoxy-resin-professional-finish-general-use?aff=16 has a very long work time and since these were very small batches they never overheated in the cups. Hope that helps.

    I noticed you poured clear over the crushed glass, doesn't that cut the sparkle out of them?

    • @MoonkusserArt

      It does change the look of it but the sparkle is still fantastic. When I first started making geodes I did not clear coat the glass thinking I didn't want to take any sparkle away. Then I tried it on one and liked the result so much I have done it ever since.

      @@MoonkusserArt so it don't take the sparkle just looks different. Thank you for that, I will have to try, I did notice it takes sparkle away from glitter, have you found any that it doesn't? Again thank you very much, your work is amazing.

      @@Victoria-rl4yn try adding your glitter into clear resin and pouring it on top of a cured layer of resin. Glitter tends to sink in resin so this method might help you get the result you are after.
