You need to study the Indian Laws . As per laws even if a wife is earning in crore and husband in lakhs, the husband is fully liable for upkeep of his wife , legally, whereas wife has no responsibility towards husband as far as financial responsibility is concerned

I know our laws are not gender-neutral, and I know things like there's no law for marital rape; for gender-neutral spousal violence; and there are hindu fimily laws like that of a woman legally belonging to the groom's family after marrying him; if she dies and has no biological child, her property legally goes to groom's family; that by shariyat law, Muslim men are legally eligible to marry 4 wives; that of the eldest male being the head of the family, and in every stupid identity documents only the father's or the husband's name appears as kinda "legal gurdian" (except for passport, very recently made a little good change), in the name of personal and family law much more legally weird things are there.... but we can vote for change; have prenups, wills and spent some money on lawyers (XD), have trials; at least we have a very good constitution; that's a relief.

Wah...i totally agree with you guys...but i still think middle class family would take time to change..my husband was also reluctant engineer..but we decided that he would quit his job now he has started own school and teaching basketball to special kids... But at that time society was against to us..even our families..people used to tease him.. But i am proud of ourself that we are not part of this so called society.
