  • I stated in one of my previous videos how interested I was in the wicker basket aisle, so I decided to take lessons and learn to weave for myself. This is the first basket that I made without my instructor.

    Wow! Super high quality, and inspiring. Was the open spacing in the bottom necessary to get the right spacing for the sides? In other words, would it work if you made a bottom with no holes and tightened it up? Thanks for taking the time to record and share.

    • @sewnaturalb851
      @sewnaturalb851  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, thanks for watching. I believe the your logic is correct. The spacing helps determine the size of the bottom of the basket and also affects the sides. If you wanted to do no spaces but still get the same size basket then you would have to add more reeds to fill the basket out more. Also, the spaces help weave the basket more easily.

    Hello. I’m a little late to the party but I just wanted to say you did a great job. I begin my weaving journey in 2006. Where did you get those awesome leather handles? Did you make them or buy them? Thanks!

      you split one down to were the bottom begins. In an adirondack pack it's in the center of the back. It's what gives it its flared back section. In a square basket the corner might be a better spot.

      If you google search “basket reed” there will be options to buy. It come in many sizes. It all depends on how big you want your basket to be. I believe my reed is 1/2 and inch and 1 inch.
