Bear in mind that all educators dig deep into their pockets to contribute to stationery and resources throughout the year... as well as seeing to a student or two who are in dire need of a pair of school shoes
It's a good thing this came up... some off us don't agree but are forced to to get the stuff required by the school... plus they have so much of activities requesting funds ... and regarding stationary few items the school say they would give but my kids have yet to receive it in all this years.
Stationery ? Worry about poor literacy rates and pass rates from learners after 2021. Worry about primary school kids smoking dagga on school, disrespecting teachers, hitting teachers. Worry about poor parental involvement, teenage pregnancy in schools, no role models to look up to or guide our children. This has nothing to do with stationery but at this point I feel like you're biting the hand that provides your child with the parental and nurturing care that you as a parent failed to deliver. Do not have kids if you cannot afford them in the long run. Stop putting pressure on teachers who have to deal with disrepectful kids and get paid peanuts to do so.
My sister moved overseas. They dont pay for schooling for public school. The school gives all kids a laptop, all books and stationery. All extra mural activities are free. All extra tutoring is free. My nephew is provided with a translator to assist during school. The only thing they need to pay for is food, which is subsidised. The food fee is €1 a day (about R17) which includes a soup, main meal, fruit and drink.
Government said education will be free now it seems like we will have school spaza shops (or teacher spaza shops) selling detergents, toilet paper, reams of printing paper, rulers, etc..
I went to school in late 60’s and 70 ‘ the scholl provided us with most items on the list. I used to be a school teacher in 80’s and had a stock room in my class room with pens books etc. the children also paid school fees but the scools provide most on the lis 🤷🏻
Yess i agree with you we used to buy few items like calculators and accounting books as well mats book most things we used to get it for free what happen now?
I do not take the stationery to school. I buy then give my kids at home, if they run out I replenish. I remember my husband bought R3000 worth of Stationery in 2020 and I took it to school in Jan, mid March they closed because of Covid we never saw that stationery it was allegedly stolen 😂😂😂😂
I finish my schooling at government schools during the gutter education system as we would call it .Never ever did my parents had to buy a book for any of our children .
My experience with the school uniform=The Principal and SGB Chairperson are making personal money from the school uniform that is why they insist on one supplier.
Every wrong or unfair practice must be called out but please parents make sure that your children have all the necessary stationery through out the year. How you do it I believe it's up to you.Learners who lack some of the things get frustrated and can be very disruptive in class.
These things are being asked for, for a reason. Schools don't get enough money to cater for a child's every educational need. Some teachers also use the little salaries they get to buy school supplies. Yes, some of the lists I've seen are a bit extreme, but some of the things are necessities. You wouldn't want your child to fall behind due to a lack of supplies. Some of these schools just need to be more realistic with their stationery lists.
When I was in both primary and secondary school, all we had to buy for stationery was two quire note books and covers. Everything else was provided for by the school
Schools are terrible! They fail to take accountability. Schools are stealing enough from the entertainment industry so I don't know why they need to still try these stunts also. No need for schools to struggle as we can assist fundraising events but the school use you once then steal you contacts and try it on their own that then results in a flop and harm to the entertainment industry. I will never help schools again as long as this is the mindset as we cant afford these poor actions anymore by the schools. Solution is simple being SGB must work and they need to operate with integrity. Its really that simple. If they refuse that then cut their high salaries and use that to buy what the school needs. Any leader with wisdom can solve this in one day.
Why kids must but photo copying papers, toilet papers, xcatly what is the anc doing for south africa, they dont care coz their kids go to school with our money, tax payers money, its disgusting some families fail even to buy shoes so how yall xpecting to buy what the department suposse to offer
Some teachers and principals don't want to use their budget to buy cleaning materials and toilet papers. They use the money to buy their personal products or share the money amongst themselves, while the parents are footing the bill. Some teachers even steal the food that is meant for poor leaners. The corruption in government schools is worse.
No teacher can steal the money that I can assure you. Whatever you want to procure you table it to the Procurement Committee first then to the Finance Committee, thereafter you fill the requisition form that will accompany the procured item when it is submitted to the Education Deptmt.at the end of each month. A monthly report of all the items that were procured is compiled by the School Finance Officer , submitted to the Dept together with the Bank Statement that reflects all the transactions. All what I can say is that the chances of stealing at school level are zero because there's SGB with Finance and Procurement Committees , Principal as the Accounting Officer and overseer
Public and private schools need to include personal finance and entrepreneurship in their students' curriculum as first world countries have already done and even Rwanda is copying this model.
He's not giving the right answers. Parents don't have to go as far as buying things like detergent, that has to be provided by the schools badget. Why should parents even be expected to buy those extra things
The stationery list are extremely excessive now, had to buy stationery worth more than R2,500, with once of use text books being the most expensive, feels like a scam in the making...
Stop all the childcare payments, transport payment, food feeding schemes, lets go back to basics......a basic education system from age 6 to matric and university levelat the parents cost, that's what i grew up on and respect for teacher student, discipline in schools. I now believe the apartheid system worked well.
All a child needs is a pen and a book. These fancy add-ons are not necessary.
Preach Sir!🤗
Educators also buy detergents, cleaning cloths, even a broom
If you pay exorbitant school fees school must pay if you dont pay school fees parents must pay
Watch the space, many will soon resort to the UCT online school
Next time we will be asking government to help with school uniform.
Kids are already getting Meals at School. No School Funds have to be Paid. Not 5 Cents. Comes out of Taxpayers Pocket.
Some schools are receiving uniforms
@lorrainerambau in South Africa???

If most of these parents would sacrifice their alcohol money maybe they’ll be able to afford it
True, but do you really want to pay for things that learners won't use.
I see everything but can we talk about the 2x500 ream of typek sheets we have to fork out every year 😭.
Mine is 4x500
That's my only problem... More so because it's a fee paying school...
At Sparks we paid a fee for printing, only to be emailed these documents which we had to print and the kids had to bring to school.
utterly ridiculous!!
They want 4 rims I give only one unless they are able to prove that my child uses more than 500 pages per year for his school.

You went off topic, I suspect you have adhd. Have yourself checked out
100%
Imagine 18 toilet papers for a 5 yr child😢
Most creache are doing that, imagine buy four boxes of facial tissues.thats crazy
Govt must create affordable jobs thats all
There are public schools if parents are sending their children to private schools they should be prepared to afford the requirements of that school
All basic stationary to
come from government .
Period!!!
Except for private schools.

100%
That's true but there was no child support which is an added expense, no transport fees, added expense no feeding schedule, added expense.
Yess i agree with you we used to buy few items like calculators and accounting books as well mats book most things we used to get it for free what happen now?

Then when ur child loses the pencil.during school hours how is the child going to learn coz you kept the stationery at home
I finish my schooling at government schools during the gutter education system as we would call it .Never ever did my parents had to buy a book for any of our children .
But why 4 rulers and 15 blue pens 4 erasers 4 sharpners
Exactly, absolute madness, someone's getting rich out of this once again, a blue pen and a black pen can last me a whole year!
Check School Governing Bodies, I smell corruption here😂😂😂
And 40 pencils

It is not all parents that provide those things, in the case where the parent can't afford the school won't stop your child from getting education.
No parents would mind if the education system was on par but unfortunately South Africa.
Teach your child to conserve resources, sharing is also caring
How do you expect a child who is on SASSA to buy stationary?
This news channel can't even spell stationery in the TH-cam description...
What ?.?
Yep. A bad reflection on their workers educational levels.
And a reflection on the professionality, checking and double checking.
Go ahead...
Try to spell the same word in Xhoza !!!
DomDoos !!!
Why don't you relocate to Brittain !!!

No they shouldn't. Simple.

Stationery.
Where parents made no plan for provision for their kids then NO provision should be made for them.
Clearly you have been cruising nicely for 400 years.
