It does seem far more complicated than getting the U.S. driver's license, but I can understand when you are in a country with so many people, all the rules are designed for safety reasons. You did great and congratulations!

Some driving reminders / tips, not in order of importance. 1. Always signal ahead of time, and check your blind spot to determine if it's safe before you change lanes. 2. Go with the flow of traffic but don't tail gate, leave ample room between you and the driver in front of you. 3. If some is tailgating you, do not speed ahead, but either change lanes if you're in the fast lane or increase the distance between you and the car in front of you (you'll need to create a bigger zone between you and the car in front of you for safety - because speeding up will put you in a closer sandwich position between the car ahead of you and the aggressive tailgater behind you, this is not good.)💡 4. The faster you are driving, the more distance you should have between your car and the car in front of you.

I think China is more careful before letting you actually on the road. In most other country, we usually just do the screen test and then we right away goes onto the road test. But, they do two extra test in between in China, because...I guess they don't trust student drivers lol

@@suzeel That is so true. I think the main reason is that car didn't become widely available in China until the late 80s to early 90s. So, you ended up having a lot of older people with the driving skill of a teenager and that means more accident rate. So, they wanted to make the test harder to pass. This is especially grandma learning to drive.
Learning to drive is similar to learning martial art it is about muscle memory. A lot of things you just can't explain it, you just need to learn via experience and practice. But, when learning via experience and practice is usually harder for older people, because their brain is going down.
I saw this video a General, that is in the marine corps for years and now relocated to lead a paratrooper division, due to not enough commander of similar rank. He still need to learn how to jump from a plane. And we see that a lot of things younger cadet need to practice for 3 times, he need to practice 10 times. To make it not embarassing (because he is a two star General) he was in a class of his own, only one guy. But, you can still see the difference.
In most countries by the time you are 40 or 50 you are already an experienced driver. But, in China it is a completely different story. That is why they make the test so much more complicated, it is designed for grandma learning how to drive for the first time.
The US actually got the same problem when cars first came out in the early 20th century. And the accident rate was very high and there are even calls in congress to ban automobile, due to the high accident rate. It is similar to everytime somebody got shot by a cop today it make the front page news.

Can you believe that it took me 10 times to pass the road test for my US driver license, which costs me $100, $10 for each. In year 1990, $100=¥830 which is my one year's salary,¥57/month as a college instructor. Compare to me your experience is not bad at all.

I got my licence in Wuhan a year ago. I can drive in high ways now. As you know after you got your licence you can`t drive in high ways. First 1 year is your training period, they don`t let people to drive in high ways.

It's so much funny to see you went through whole process to get the drive license in China. I recently got my driver license, you only need pass 科目1 if you have US driver license. It makes so much easier. However, I wouldn't dare driving in China big city right away, the traffic is very difficult to navigate around, especially these e-scooter. You never see where and when they come to your way.

You should have returned to the US to get a local driver's license and then come back to transfer your US driver's license to Chinese DL. In that case, you only need to take subject 1, the online testing, which will only take about 1 hour to get a driver's license. Getting a US DL is far easier and less time-consuming.

I had been driving without a driver's license for several months. Then I went in to take the driver's written test. Once I passed that. I was allowed to drive with a DMV officer for about 5 minutes then I passed and got my driver's license. It looks so difficult and took too many steps to pass the driver's test in China. I will take a Didi instead of getting the driver's license in China.

Good job! Did you have any language problem? I took one in Guilin, Guangxi. I had HK drive's license and just a paper testing. But, a big problem was at a testing place, they speak local dialect which I can't fully captured. Fortunately, I passed it. The most big challenge was driving in downtown BJ. :-)

There is no 5 class or 7 class in China, but exist in Canada, it means ppl can get full license in China after this test. So it looks a little bit complex. 加油老司机!

i driven in vancouver canada for 15+ yrs before i came driving in guangzhou, i was amazed how careless i drove for those 15 yrs 😂 i concentrated and used my mirrors hell lot more than ever, and learn alot more about how to cut ppl off and when it is safe to let ppl cut me off... its not safe to let ppl cut u off coz they wont stop coming once someone else saw u as the chance to come through 😂 and staying on the speed limit because of all those traffic cameras...
anyways, i learn alot more driving here, and felt ridiculously dangerous on the road when i travelled back home as everyone speeds and no one use their mirrors 😂😂😂

My concernis for test number 4. Do you know if there is an option to do this in English, please? If it's Chinese only, I will be completely screwed!
