Said it before and ill say it again, how the fuck did this band not go mainstream and massive globally, if youve not tried em trust me,, amazing band, could be manchesters finest...
I think they went a little too commercial on their album after this- in my opinion. Should have kept to their dark sound. They would have killed the market. So unfortunate.
@@dk4112 As much as I love the first album the issue in my opinion was the marketing and promotional men/women not making the most of Only Forever. Everyone who got a hold of that album loved it, whether they were versed in decent music or casual listeners. It had 4 potential top ten singles in the making if you include Standing In Your Shadow.
Most underated band of all times Most underated debut album ever Straight 10/10 raring all songs very tight compositions Rigid musical profile distinctive sound and so characteristic vocals
i dont know if its better than dont fall as an opening song but its great i just recently found this band as the singer sang on john levers red sided garter snakes rarely do i miss anything great so glad i found this
I love Puressence and love this track, but I think "Jenny Was A Friend of Mine" from "Hot Fuss" by The Killers is possibly the best opening track of any album ever!
This song is driven by the vocal whereas Adored is driven by the band. Jimmy does more in the first 4 lines here then Ian Brown has done in his career!
This song means alot to me, because the first time I heard it was shortly after the first time I heard a Radiohead song. Obviously I knew there were "Good Songs" and "Bad Songs".. But when I first heard Creep, as a 12 year old, it really opened my eyes. Then my uncle gave me a cassette tape with more Radiohead and Puressence. This was another of the songs that are part of my "emergence into the realisation that music can be better than I've ever imagined". Good Memories.... And a Great Song.
1998 FIRST LIVE GIG IN THESSALONIKI mylos club aNDREW sZYMINSKI MADE A BREAK ON STAGE PLAYING THIS GUITAR INTRO THAT STILL DRIVES ME CRAZY. SECOND LIVE ONE YEAR AFTER ON THE VIDEO WALL IMAGES FROM kubrik's ""THE SHINing"". best debut album ever.

I asked Kev once what Jimmy was saying in the spoken word part. Sadly, I don't remember it properly, but it was something about a Stone Roses Tshirt, its a bit scruffy, it's hard sometimes. I have no idea what the rest is, but after years of wondering, it was like a big secret was being revealed to me! Can anyone fill in the blanks?

One of my favourite Puressence tracks 💜
Epic.
Some 30 years later, it still holds up as unparalleled. No one today even comes close to their sound: dark, rich, urgent.
Have you heard of Radiohead?
So here we are 30 years on rehearsing for June 2024 reunion gig in Manchester 😮👍👍
Is this the best opening track to a debut album ever?
I think so.
i dont know if its better than dont fall as an opening song but its great i just recently found this band as the singer sang on john levers red sided garter snakes rarely do i miss anything great so glad i found this
I think as a statement I Wanna Be Adored still stands out as the best opening debut track for me.
This is superb though.......what a debut album too.
Darryl Collinson hard to argue chap.

Still sends shivers up my spine every time I hear it.
Their best work.

Hitman Contracts brought me here

I love this song but the words "tomato sauce" doesn't belong in a song this beautiful
ketchup would have been even worse though ;)
