He got really nervous and didn’t know what to do so he started cleaning the house. Exactly what I do when I get scared and nervous. But you can see that he was trying to comfort her he just didn’t really know how to be that expressive. But he’s working on everything and making great progress. You can tell she really loves him and he wants to love her back the same way.
Gabby is a big, beautiful strong eagle. I like that she wasn't knocked off the branch, showing her strength. Naughty GHO. Beau is cute trying to comfort her.
I remain hopeful they can Procreate. Seem to be making proper strides in that direction. This (like @ swfl) is a simple dispute over overlapping territories--Eagle and GHO. The Owl is showing it's concern(as it can) against much larger (GHO--5.1 lbs vs 14 lb Bea) and more capable BEA Natural opponent. I told Rich if he loved me he'd go outside and get me some pine branches for my knees because they hurt. LOL He brought me a fake Christmas wreath from the living room and put it on my legs....lol Gabby, you don't know how lucky you are girlfriend!!!

That was the sweetest thing ever! I love how Beau was so earnestly trying to think of something that would soothe Gabby and show her how much he loves her❤. And as soon as he placed that bough on her, she noticeably relaxed and then joined him in nestoration rituals 🥰

Owls are specialized for the night, so have superb night vision, and as HpAwa said, their feathers are soft on the edges which gives them silent flight. Eagles are no match for them at night, but their big size helps them take any attacks.

Aside from the naughty owl strike, it looks like Beau did everything a good spouse should. At one point it looked like Gabby was snuggling into Beau and he really seems to follow her lead. It just warms my heart. I hadnt realized how big Gabby is, not sure how shes compares to other females but shes is as cute as a big button😊. And that nest is so cozy looking, nice job Beau and Gabby!!
Bald eagles pairs are so touching to watch. This reminds me of Jackie on the FOBBY cam whimpering after her eggs failed to hatch. Owls seem to be a little mean at times.

Probably a GHO great horned owl.
I was also wondering what kind of owl it was. Barn Owls only weight about an ounce so it couldn’t be one of them.
Probably a Barred owl. Smaller than the great horned owls and they sometimes hit the eagles without knocking them off the branch

I know owls are on the hunt for nests during this time of the season but this is my first time seeing Gabby struck by an owl, is it also a common issue at this nest like with the nest of M15 and F23?

@@carolgrantman942 I’ve seen her coo before but I can’t speak “eagle” so not sure what she’s communicating. LH or AEF likely have a better idea about her cooing:) Hope she’s not hurt .
I'm sure it no doubt scared her some as she of course wasn't expecting it and I'm pretty sure with the force she was hit with and the fact the owl had its claws out, it had to have hurt.
I hope Beau won‘t work so much on the nestbowl when there are eggs, otherwise the same thing could happen with an egg disappearing in it like last season.
