Great Thin Lizzy riffs 🙂 we did a Lizzy cover band back in the days. I have 3 SDGR basses, a 4, a 5 and a 6 string version, they work great. Setup done the way you have thought me over the years. Thanks Dave 🙂for teaching us to do it ourselves. Like you said, when its all nicely setup, the only thing you have to change is the relief by adjusting the truss rod. The neck is the only thing that moves, and it moves with the seasons.

I have a similar bass, probably a step below with chrome hardware and a natural finish.
The bass plays nice, sounds great and is very light.
i assume you setup the peavey the same as this bass, correct?

The intonation might have been flat to compensate for the string tension increasing when the 12th fret is pressed because of the high action.

An Ibanez bass is a bass. Idc what anyone says ibanez makes great stuff! The gio or soundgear line is the way to go for a beginner. I purchased 2 gio guitars and a gio bass and they played very well out of the box. And the big plus was the nut and action were perfect on 250 dollar guitars!
@@doknox Great is maybe taking it a bit far. Perfectly usable(but entirely soulless) I'd say. And the preamp in the GIO basses is atrocious.
@@marcussoininen2084 soulless? How do you judge the "soul" of a guitar? Is this another sound descriptor like warm and buttery but soulless? I can agree on the noisy bass preamp though. But for beginners like I was saying.....
@@doknox By how it feels, the sounds you can wrangle out of it by playing differently. "Polite" is maybe another applicable term, at least for mine, if you play them hard, they just fart where another would growl.
Who would use the high frets? Les Claypool from Primus. He is an incredible bass player.

The fact that the two way truss rod seems to be right in the Bermuda Triangle between push and pull kind of troubles me.

I have two, one is a Gio from 20 years ago, and both are great. I’m willing to accept that I’ve won the cheap bass lottery twice though.
