Dalila is very protective of the baby, but she’s not the kind of mother who never lets go. She knows the mangabeys can’t harm the baby, but she doesn’t let things go completely. The baby needs to overcome these mischievous little monkeys on its own and establish its own position! 😂😂
It seems like common behaviour with primates to present their butts to each other. The gorilla mothers often check baby’s bottom. I think monkeys are very intrigued by each other, the mangabeys have young ones as well who want to play with Makongo now that he is exploring. I don’t think his Aunties are concerned by the Mangabeys. Tamidol was more protective, but even she would be letting him explore now. All gorilla mothers are over protective then they gradually let go of the reins. I’m so glad he isn’t grieving for his mother that would have been terrible to watch. They are such wonderful creatures so are the Mangabeys. I’m sure they wouldn’t allow them to share space if they weren’t compatible. Great to see the interaction. ❤❤

The other monkeys are not bullying him, they are just playing with him. Obviously if he was in distress, his mother would pull him away and obviously she doesn't see them as a threat.

I think the little mangabey monkeys are just very mischievous. They’re also very curious about baby Makongo, but his adoptive mother, Dalila, is always by his side. Whenever they get a chance, they try to get close to Makongo.

Those monkeys are not friendly to the baby. They are trying to “do” things to him. At first I thought it didn’t seem “right” - the way they’d position themselves…. I need to ask a question................Couldn't Nala take the role over the baby instead of Dalila and those bad monkey's need to go, and Dalila doesn't stop them bad monkey's from jumping on the baby.
When Dalila sees those naughty mangabeys teasing Makongo, she moves him away but doesn't intervene too much, as Makongo needs to face them on his own👶💪🦍. Nala, on the other hand, can't stand seeing her little brother teased and has stood in front of the baby several times to protect him♥️👧👍.
I agree Dalia is doing the best that she can.They didn't want this baby removed from his family.The sister MAY may not be mature enough to raise the baby but can help out. It may not be ideal, but you have to roll with what you have.Just give it time .

Dalilia doesn't appear to be the most attentive mom and she appears to take care of Makango rather reluctantly. I feel for this young gorilla and hope he survives. Nala provides more protection for him than Dalilia.

Of course, it's heartwarming when Nala stands in front of the baby, as she deeply loves her little brother.
Tamidol would never of let Makongo get that close to those monkeys, especially as they appeared to be trying to jump him, and put their butts in his face. He is still so young. Dalila’s indifference helped me make my mind up… It would be better for Nala to be his caregiver.

I think Nala is too young to properly care for him now. Dahlila is an old hat and has had many babies. For now she is the best choice.

Dalilia doesn't appear to be the most attentive mom and she appears to take care of Makango rather reluctantly. I feel for this young gorilla and hope he survives. Nala provides more protection for him than Dalilia.
Dalila isn't overprotective of the baby, but if you've seen clips of her interactions with her own son, Ayo, and the mangabeys, you'd understand that this is just the kind of mother she is. She knows that only when the baby becomes strong on his own can he prove himself. Dalila isn’t indifferent to the baby; she does move him away when necessary. But the baby must face the challenges posed by the mangabeys and grow stronger himself, rather than always standing behind his mother or sister. Of course, it's heartwarming when Nala stands in front of the baby, as she deeply loves her little brother.
Tamidol would never of let Makongo get that close to those monkeys, especially as they appeared to be trying to jump him, and put their butts in his face. He is still so young. Dalila’s indifference helped me make my mind up… It would be better for Nala to be his caregiver.

While she’s not indifferent and does step in to move him away when needed, she also knows that he has to face the challenges from the mangabeys himself in order to become stronger, rather than relying on his mother or sister for protection. Of course, it's touching to see Nala standing in front of him, showing how much she loves her little brother.♥️🦍💪👶
Dalila looks so tired and low on energy. I hope she lives long enough for the baby to be independent. That would be just horrible if something happened to her, too.🤎🦍🩶
