    Really like the concept of switching from the PCT to the OCT and back to the PCT, particularly to get change of scenery, more trail towns and less burn areas. Thanks for showing to others what’s possible when you hike your own hike.

    Love that you are swerving from your original plan. It is an important life skill. That backpacking gives you the opportunity is one of the best parts of it. Choose your own path. It is all about the journey and you get to make it your own. Adapt, improvise, and overcome!

    Got stung by a stingray not a very pleasant adventure. The very first time in the ocean 🌊. Been stung by jelly fish as well. I became a dive master in my younger days. Did some diving in your area while in the military. But glad you got the oceanic breeze. GODS I miss the ocean. But Cory is still bringing in the “bro” version. Ya just gotta love’em. Thanks DUDE. A concern but not your business is the puppies foot pads doing ok. Like sled dogs crossing long distance terrains can usually pick up bad cuts sometimes. He seems happy with you guys and I hope you will be better with the bladder problem. So ya keep re-injuring the grown muscles. Your a nurse…and there’s no advice I can give you princess and I feel sad 😢. Without knowing what caused it in your range of motion. But. Your a trooper and you still push thru. That’s the strongest woman I know on this video and proud to have discovered you on TH-cam. Still my princess and Cory he’s, he’s THE DUDE 😂 lol.

      The sea...it gets in your blood and haunts your dreams. In Central Washington now I'm about as far away as I think I could sanely go; even if I don't see it, I know it's not really far.
      Before becoming a long hiker which I can do in my semi-impovershed state, I did some sailing, including the varsity team at The Boat School (Three years after boot camp btw).
      Sailed in both big oceans + a bit in Hawaii and did boat raid ops off Okinawa. I don't miss the cold times, but I miss the challenge, the teamwork and much more.

    I saw that you are back on the PCT. Good luck. I just returned 7/11 from backpacking in the Three Sisters Wilderness. There was snow everywhere; icy in the AM and slushy in the PM. This included 17.8 miles on the PCT. The pool at the base of Obsidian Falls was 3/4 frozen. There was snow until about 1 1/2 miles north of Moraine Lakes. Hike on!

    I love the change you're making and adapt to the conditions of the trail, a real life adventure!! To be honest, I'm a little morbid too and like Corey would take pic of the unlucky animals, probably to document the state of the beaches and making my own statistic about what animals i see the most! lol

    Hiked the OCT in '19. Too much yellow blazing, fresh water was scarce. But the vistas are spectacular, the State parks beautiful, well maintained. And you hit a town every day or two. Beach camping is cool, except for the sand in your everything.

    I think the OCT overlaps with the Samuel Boardman Scenic Corridor near the southern border of Oregon. GORGEOUS! Beautiful trails and breathtaking views! Be sure to check it out at some point! That pink flower with white spots (a bunch of bell shaped blooms on one stem) is foxglove that digitalis is made from. BTW: Didn't you do part of the OCT before?

    That’s the part of the world I grew up in. When I was a kid we would pitch our giant canvas tent on the beach in cannon beach snd get up at the crack of dawn to dig for razor clams. It’s nice walking in the wet sand for a change. So cushiony after a thousand plus miles on rocks. Gotta love the puffins. They look so funny when they fly. They look like a football with wings. Our family got stuck at that spot at cannon beach. Dad had to carry us kids across and through the water cuz we lost track of time and couldn’t get back to our tent. Also had to carry out two Siamese cats who camped with us. Lol. Poor kitties. They lived the beach but not the water. Lol

      I took my cat Sushi to Newport one unusually hot Summer. Plenty cool down there. She was a forest cat, didn't like the beach too much, but it was cooler and heat was really bad for her.
      Correction. Although I took her, she was not mine so much as I was hers. She even trained me to walk with her on a leash.

    Manzanita is where we camped for a family reunion. My moms cousin lived at Neakahnee. Those Native American names are hard to know how to pronounce so no one is worried about it. It’s pronounced like Knee a Connie. If that helps.

    • @paulrevere2379
      @paulrevere2379 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a very Oregon thing to mispronounce names anyway, so you'll fit right in.

    • @MaxZomboni
      @MaxZomboni 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paulrevere2379 LOL, that is so true. I listen to a scanner channel for a local Fire Department here. Everytime one of the fire officials has to say "Siuslaw" he has to repeat it about three times before he gets the pronunciation right, and I believe he has lived on the Oregon Coast his whole life.

    Wow how fun to take a detour this trail looks a little easier for you all since you’ve done crazy mountain elevation most of the time yes it does add 400 extra miles but hell you guys are killing it & how nice to see the ocean it looks like a beautiful trail thanks for showing us this!! what level do you think this Hike is for us regular folks?

    • @paulrevere2379
      @paulrevere2379 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are all super-oxygenated down there at sea level.
      Btw, go just a couple miles inland and you have the cleanest air in the world just beyond the coastal area.
      You also have the coast range and the thickest vegetation you are likely to ever experience. There are a few trails, but they tend to go in and dead end. If the Oregon portion of the PCT can be called the Green Tunnel, then the Coast Range is where you'll find the Green Dungeon. That or Goonie land.

    • @MaxZomboni

      Roosevelt Elk as opposed to the Rocky Mountain Elk.
      The former which they are likely to see have the largest bodies while the ones in the Rockys have smaller bodies but larger antler racks.

    As in orthopedic Surgeon who has been following you for a long time on this PCT trip . It appears that you're still limping and if this is the case you may want to get this checked out soon in Oregon

    • @paulrevere2379
      @paulrevere2379 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As a hiker who avoids drugs of any kind like I avoid poison oak, I do make an exception and that's when a minor injury causes a limp. The limp does more harm imo than a few OTC anti-inflammatories. Even then I usually don't exceed half the dosage. I know it works different for ppl who take a lot of them, but I won't get into that.
      In my mid 50s btw, I pack heavyish, and no chronic lower body issues even though about 15 years ago I was told I would need daily glucosamine for the rest of my life. I just don't run anymore, or rarely anyway, no special suppliments.
      Anyway, point is that a limp imo is never just a small thing to ignore.
