Anytime I need to make large updates to business policies I do two things: 1) wait 48 from when I last sent offers. eBay won’t let you change a listing that has open offers. That’s why you get separate policies for any items it couldn’t update. 2) Go through any listings ending in the next 24 hours ( you can sort this easily form your listings page) and end and relist those. Any items ending soon won’t be able to be pulled into the new policy. When I do those two things I hardly ever end up with randomly named eBay policies that then need to be cleaned up.
I'm so glad you broke this down into simple terms, I have watched so many videos and have become even more confused and nervous about shipping. Please continue to share your experience and learning it is greatly appreciated!
Thank you for explaining this. I tried a couple times to create a business policy for required immediate payment and USPS ground advantage and it messed up all my listings every time and eventually have to opt out and clean everything up in my listings which took so much time. I was hesitant to ever try it again. I didn't know why all these other policies all of a sudden appeared when I didn't create them. Thank you for explaining that so well.
Cayley, can you do a video on international shipping? I was confused when you created a no international shipping policy but are opted into international shipping. I didn’t realize that would trigger eBay to manage the shipping, but not sure that’s right. Thanks so much for this!
eBay is the easiest platform to resell and make so much more money than Postmark if you put in the work . I treat it my small online store in eBay the same way I will treat corporate America job I wake early get ready and I work non stop for 5 hours then take one hour break come back and work another 5 hours straight and that’s the only way to make it I list 40 daily but Friday is the hardest day for me because I need to schedule 10 items for Saturday plus other 10 items for Sunday I know is too much but it does pay off 🎉
I don't think I could make a whole video about it. It's really easy now. Ebay has a program called international shipping and all you have to do is ship it to their warehouse in the US and they handle the rest. Here's an article about it and how it works! www.ebay.com/help/selling/shipping-items/setting-shipping-options/ebay-international-shipping-program?id=5348
Hi! That's really up to you. I use calculated for everything so that the shipping cost is always covered. You can do either! I can try to put a video out soon
That would be really nice. Someone else was saying I should only do flat rate. I have no storage living in a small apt and so only have USPS priority boxes. My shipping cost is ridiculous. A tutorial on Pirate shipping would be really special.
My mind is BLOWN! I haven’t even listed on there yet because I thought you needed to have a business plan in place first. And I’ve listened to several people talk about shipping and GOODNESS GRACIOUS could it be anymore complicated. I sell on Poshmark but they’re very strict about what can be sold. I’ve had a sellers platform on eBay for over 14 years but it wasn’t complicated then. I only put up some of my original oil paintings back then but took them down a few days later 😂
That helps a lot. Thank you! Miss Cayley, do you mind explaining to me/us(beginners) as well how the Shipping/Postal internationally works and how do you apply/input the rates in your policy? (i believe per Zone/Continent has a different rate). And also, eBay shipping program does exist only in the US and some part, but there are some countries still relying on the manual postage. "Its a newbie question, hope you understand" Thank you.
Another helpful video! Maybe next time you could talk about why you'd need several different returns policies? I'm stumped on this one! Thanks, Cayley!
Thank you so much for this video ! I was intimidated by this but you made it simple. I have a couple of questions if you have a minute. Sometimes I miss estimate my item package dimensions and it doesn’t cost as much as the customer paid. Does the customer see what I paid and can I set it so they don’t ? It’s usually not much money 50 cents or a dollar but I don’t want to get a bad review because of it. Also why can’t we just delete this extra policies ?
The buyer cannot see what you paid but it's always a good idea to be as accurate as possible so they are getting the best deal. Which extra policies do you mean?
@DaydreamAboutNiceThings what happens is, if one of your listings falls outside of the policies you have created, it creates a new policy. So basically you have to edit the listings to put them into a different policy and then you can delete the extras. But you cannot delete a policy when it exists within one of your listings.
Instructions on how to opt of of business policies are below. www.ebay.com/help/selling/business-policies/business-policies?id=4212 You can choose any type of return polices for any of your listings. You cannot achieve top rated plus without free returns.
Hello. Please tell me, if in Policy shipping you indicate a service in the column, for example, Ground Advantage and Priority Mail, then Priority Mail includes both regular priority shipping and Flat rate envelopes and boxes? Or do I need to create a separate policy for Flat rate envelopes and boxes? Thank you.
You would need to create a seperate policy for every type of priority mail service you want to charge the buyer. Obviously you can change the service later when you go to ship but as far as charging them for the correct service, you would want to include that as an option in your listing.
@@cayleyelaine That is, you need to create a separate shipping policy for Priority mail Flat rate envelope, a separate policy for Priority Padded Flat rate envelope, and also separately for each Flat rate envelope box? Do I get it right?
@natagertsen318 its all about which options you want to offer your buyer. If it fits in all 3 then you can create one policy which includes all 3 options. But if you want to offer just one then you'll want to create seperate policies.
I wish I never did this. I messed around with shipping and now for say 7 lbs I have no choice but to ship for 3.99. help how do you get back to the way it was
If you advertise brand new shoes be been used and giving 30 days return, what would you do if you got the shoes but they been used for 30 days. Dirty, and scratches. Now the she’s are valued 80% less.can someone tell me if the customer will get and accept $20?in return? What would U do?
I'm here because idk what I did so I can't post anything. Everything is messed up. Idk what i did. I hope this video saves me. I'll be back to let you know. 😂
Thank you I figured it out. Idk why they make it confusing with those extra policies. Just seems loke a pain to have to even go in and even clean up. I'm slow as it is. 😂

Very helpful, Cayley, especially Change Policy button!
this had me stumped! thank you so much- I was able to do it in just a few minutes after your video!
Give me one gifted teacher over a dozen experts. THANK you! And yes, bulk editing works for non-store edits.

Very nice instructional video. 👏🏼 I have been putting off the business policies.

Hi! I only use ebays international shipping program. I do not ship internationally directly. Unfortunately I don't have enough experience to help.
@@cayleyelaine, its okay! Thank you very much for your response.

Some people don't want to offer returns on items that are frequently bought and then returned (like wedding dresses or formal gowns).

If you’re drop shipping and selling products from AutoDS warehouse, aren’t the policies supposed to be set and managed by them and not us?
I don't drop ship, so idk.
Thank you for making this easy to understand. 😊
How do you opt out if you are seeing this shipping?
There is an opt out button on the same page.
How can I opt out and go back to settings before I opt into top rated plus. I don’t want free returns

Hair looking on point
Thanks for the vid Cayley!
🤣 that really was me for awhile.
Great video, thank you so much!!
eBay have a payment policy and it will not allow me to create it gives me an error saying I can make a change
I'm not sure why it would be doing that. You may need to reach out to ebay and see what the issue is.
Hello i am indoensia...if make llc how the price for non us
I'm not sure, you'd want to contact ebay about that.

I believe if you do free returns on ebay then you can deduct up to 50% of the return if it comes back not as you sent it out. That's what I would do.
THX so much, Cayley. This slayed me too.
