Good test. The reason of KALI dip from 5 rHz to 10kHz is microphones placement. In case of measurements of coaxial speakers (and listening too) your microphones (or ears) must be place EXACTLY opposite of tweeters... Same dips has JBL 104, for example )))
I've read that the dip between 7k & 10k with the Kali IN-8, might be due to speaker placement. Think it was a reviewer on Thomann, who mentioned that the Kali IN-8 have to be placed slightly away from center position to not experience that drop in high frequencies.
I've used Adams alot ,A8X and after a while the ribbon tweeters make your ears tied, where as the kali in8 2nd wave are utterly amazing ,demoed them 3 weeks ago and they are far easier to keep listening with and mixes do tend to translate far better than with my Adams ,and my Focals
You can make comparation better if record left and right channel sequentially through one speaker and mix this recording to stereo after in audio editor. By this you exclude inter-channel crosstalk (witch is irrelevant to audio quality), avoid room acoustic asymmetry and made recordings easier to compare with original track. For easy alignment you can just add an impulse to original stereo before splitting it to mono for recording. Also omni-directional mic may be better for this method because it catch all reflections which can affect perceived frequency response (Floyd Toole wrote about this). I think all this will made comparations closer to truth because of better reflect speaker's spinorama.
I would have to say the Adams have a little more presence and seem a lot more forward in their sound dynamics. Certainly more bass definition and mids and higher frequencies seem on a par.
The "Ribbon Tweeter" on the T8V is non-fatiguing, thus great for long listening sessions. The Bass is also a bit better on the T8V's when tested in person as well. TY DS. Cheers.
The Adam's sound much tighter on the jazz song. That's where those ribbons really start to shine. The Kali's more full, but that mic position is too far imo. I can hear too much of the room. 1 meter distance would be perfect
I'm not sure that the microphones here are placed in the monitor sweet spot. Ideally I believe you would want to have the speakers further apart and have the listening position create an equalateral triangle with the speakers
In addition, I think you'd want to have a set of sound isolation pads underneath the monitors to decouple them from their stands. Just eliminates more variables in the interest of more accurate recording!
If you are looking for a pro transparent speaker! Kali wins, its closer to the original track, the mids are clearer and better i think because its a 3 way monitor, flat sound, that’s what we need..
I listened to the second version and t8v live. Surprisingly, this video conveys the general impression quite accurately. I liked the middle more from Kali, the upper frequencies from Adam. Adam has a worse overload capacity. At high volume, the sound turns into dirt and noise when Kali still sounds ok. Послушал вживую вторую версию и t8v. Going into this, I'd have thought the Kali would win, but not sure now. The cuts on Bellissimo meant all the high violin was on the Kali and not on the Adam. I'd like to have heard what the Adam sounded like since I think the treble on the Adam is a little hot. Kali seemed to have a slightly warmer mid I prefer, but the hotter treble on the Adam makes it seem like it resolves more. Of course, also a slight bit more bass on the Adam. Adam by a wisker? Is there a speaker that can knock the Adam off the top rung?
My preference is that the monitors should sound like the opposite of your mix. That will always give you the best result as long as your room is decent.
Adam Audio is much better. Details about medium and high frequency. And I hear ... phase? Kali is not at all. The high frequency driver is terrible. Listening to the M-Audio BX5a. The track Man on Fire was very informative.
The only Thing the T8V's lack is a little in the mid section,where the Kali's are more consistent, but the very audible drop in the higher end on Kalis side, changes sound drastically, where the T8V sometimes seem a bit to bright, its still better than a loss of almost 10db between the 2 in the higher ends, sounds somewhat cut off. The Bass on the T8V's is ofc a major selling point aswell, so for enjoying music i would go with the T8V's, but for mixing the sharp highs might be to much and wont translate well on not so bright speakers, when you've had to tune em down on the T8V's... just imagine you mixing on the T8V's, have the very sharp n bright highs, tune em done a bit and then listen on Kali, which lacks in that deparment anyways...that would be a abyssal drop.

I'd object this. To me (listening with my Ultrasone-Cans) the Kali had highs nearer to the original Tracks - so probably the Adam sounds fresher, but the mixes done on it might not translate as well.

You can feel the gap between frequencies on T8V, mids sound fuller on kali. But highs are clearer on T8V. Listening on Eve Sc207.

Kali sounds more even with more transparent crossover. Adam stresses the highs more in comparison to the mids which makes it sound more open.

True! It's due to being coincident design. It's quite common in such speakers.

Kali seems flatter & more defined midrange. Adams sound hyped, scooped w sizzle.

There is a +2db high frequency dip switch that might help on the id-8. According to the SOS review it gets rid of all dullness
