a little detail that i love is how they don’t always lead the way for him- they open their arms to see how he will react- hug, hand shake, or nothing at all (which is completely fine)- then they let him take the lead. i wonder if they get trained in this, they all seem to treat thomas so well. :) 💕
as a cast member myself, i can confirm that even those in roles outside of entertainment get extensive training into how to interact with people with disabilities! disney is very intentional about preparing its cast for any kind of guest interaction. :)

Oh a 100%. The guidelines, rules and regulations at Disneyland is crazy! They have rules and procedures for *everything!* 😅 They even have code-words for a lot of stuff, as to not cause concern or make someone feel uncomfortable for example. It's a lot!

I’m not autistic but you’re so right with people trying to “fix” autistic people, like my sister was in the best buddies program and taught me just be there for them because you can’t rewire your brain. I know this is nowhere near the same but I have epilepsy and I remember someone was trying to fix it as if my brains just gonna be like oh yea my bad I’ll ditch the seizures. It’s infuriating so I can’t even imagine how annoying it must be

Jasmine is his favorite. My brother has autism and he starts getting really hyper and starts to show excited behavior when he loves something, very literal, the exact same body language ❤
It always feels so sincere, I feel like Thomas has become the favourite part of some cast member's day. His joy being that little boost to get through the day. 😊
They did amazing talking to him like a PERSON! Some people forget autistic individuals are human, and not just their genetic disorders. We love to see it! 😊

I am so happy that Disney has kept the characters correct. Your stuff looks amazing knowing the peoples name get some more of a personal touch, and that’s what we should be doing not changing the colors of the characters to satisfy the people they’ve always been the same way, and they should be kept the same way that is tradition and also history. I am pretty sure the interacting staff undergoes a lot of training, but it’s amazing to see in action. I love Disney world for this
