Dynamite, Permission to Dance and Butter were always supposed to be lighthearted songs with no complex meaning. It was part of the BTS coped and tried to help other's cope during the pandemic. Sometimes it's what you need. They were suffering, they saw their ARMY and family suffering. So they tried to spread a little light and chose English in hopes that it would reach a wider range of people. But it's also why Dynamite was part of BE. Which was filled with much deeper Korean tracks about their thoughts and feelings during the pandemic. Because at the end of the day, you know BTS are going to do their best to uplift people through their music.
When yoongi's hologram appeared, there wasn't an army that could hold back the tears, it had been so long since we had seen him, so long since we had seen the 7 of them together, there was always a piece missing. As for dynamite (or the trio of songs in English), yes they are "inferior" when compared to the rest of their discography, BUT the big point here is that they were released during the pandemic, they were made to cheer people up at such a difficult time. When Dynamite came out, not only the fandom, but the world was colorless. Dynamite was something finally colorful for the fandom at that time, I remember that while I was watching the mv for the first time I cried, because it was something so happy, so excited, at a time NOTHING like that, it was like, I don't know, something hopeful? and because it was in English, it managed to reach even more people who needed to hear something like this in such a hopeless time.
18:49 This performance here is my all time favourite ❤ Not only how they perform the song but the way this all starts feels like a movie ✨ and then Yoongi's hologram 💗 I remember hiding my tears at that because I was watching this with my parents who don't understand the depth of my love for them 😭💗 Thankyou so much for bringing this back 💜
What you"re saying about dynamite is exactly what i think, i like it cause it's a fun song like the rest of their english songs and butter is the reason i got to know them so i'm gratefull but i wish people didn't box them into just those three songs, they have so many great songs but people hardly give them a chance because they think that's their entire identity
YASSS! 🥳 This is such an underrated performance imo. Like, who the heck rents an entire stadium to film one song for an award show?! 🤯 But especially Life Goes On: The siren transition, the colour palette, hologram Suga,... It's my absolute favourite performance of LGO. I couldn't agree more on Dynamite. It did exactly what it was supposed to though, namely help break into the US music market and cheer up ARMY during the pandemic. It's a light and fun bop but yeah, I definitely prefer their deeper, Korean material too. 💜
Omg the life Goes on performance here made me cry so much especially wen the hologram of yoongi came out and sung with them (he couldn't be there as he was having surgery on his shoulder) this just made me cry qnd the only bit of the performance that did this to me, also this life Goes On performance must be my fav as its just so beautifully done
BTS used Carl Jung's analytical psychology to write the lyrics and make the official MV. It talks about accepting our shadows, which are those repressed parts of us. We can only evolve when we truly accept these repressed parts of ourselves. That's why the lyrics say "leave me with my everything" Only when we accept everything that is part of us can we find peace. By the way, the drums announce. the battle that will be faced... just as it was in the Middle Ages that soldiers were warned to prepare for battle with drums I'm Patrícia Carneiro, 45 years old, psychologist and army 🇧🇷💜
I love life goes on too. An instrumental version is my ringtone. Its such a comforting song for me. It got sandwiched between two huge singles dynamite and butter, so didn't get as much appreciation, imo. But it did go #1 on bbhot100 for a week, the first Korean song to do so. I love Suga's version also from his dday album.
Hi Bryan! It's always great to see a video from you! 😍 You're right about Dynamite, it doesn't have that depth of other BTS' works but boys decided to record it and release it for everyone to cheer them up. The song did just that, it's a happy disco pop track to brighten your mood! In that regard I love it just like the whole English trilogy (they love a good trilogy 🤭). In all that chaos the BE album gets lost. Thank you for your reaction! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Many others have said it, but since you kept going on and on about how inferior Dynamite is, it obviously needs to be said again. It was released during the pandemic solely to cheer everyone up since the future was still unknown. It was bright, happy and cheerful when the world needed it most. And they decided to do it all in English to reach as many people as possible. Just keep this in mind and respect what they were doing at the time.
