I just wanted to say. In later episodes Teds loneliest night that he’s had his life, was just 45 days away from meeting her. It might not be 45 days or even 1 year. But those lonely nights are just one of those days that needs to pass to get to that last 45fth day.

Scenes like this remind me of how much my life paralleled Ted's. I was an always in-my-head engineer who had so many close calls, actually broke up a week before a wedding, watched all my friends get married and have kids, and pined for "the one" well into my 30s. I finally met her, and from the very beginning, it was magical. Then, a few months after we were married, we found out she was terminally ill. We fought cancer together for 6 years until her body just gave out, but I recently married again, so yeah, I kind of understand what someone like Ted would be thinking or feeling in every single moment of this show.
This scene is genuinely so beautiful and relatable since a part of us always feels exactly like what Ted was feeling in this moment. You are in your 20s and at one point you get tired of waiting for that someone special and something to happen. Listening to Stella's words provide you comfort and give you a reason to keep going without losing hope🤞
As someone who is currently around Ted's age, I relate to this so much. I see others find their love, and here I am alone and wishing I could find that person for me someday. Someone to love with all my heart.

Unpopular opinion : Stella was the worst girlfriend!! . She refused to move in with Ted to New York, even though she already works in the city. Stella takes her own sister’s wedding day and doesn’t even ask Ted beforehand. She leaves Ted at the altar and runs off with her ex boyfriend . Stella moves in with the ex boyfriend to New York, even though she insisted that Ted would move in with her in New Jersey after the wedding. The WORST THING she did, was let her ex boyfriend write a movie about her and Teds relationship, but have Ted look like the villain. She broke his heart by leaving him at the altar and her boyfriend made profits off of it .
Not at all unpopular! I felt like the writers of the show did Ted horribly wrong by having Stella and her ex-boyfriend/current husband have a happy ending after all they did to him.
Oh yea that's definitely not unpopular. Stella was easily Ted's worst ex. I know Ted is a nice guy and all but after all the crap that woman put him through I would've never talked to Tony for her. Like you said she leaves him at the alter and she was going to make him move to Jersey (which was a decision Ted really didn't want to do) but the she is fine with being in NY for Tony. The bitch is cold for that. Say what you will about his other ex's but none of them did him that dirty
If anyone thinks the show is about Ted and Robin, this is one scene that proves that dead wrong. It’s literally about how he met his kids’ mother. He wouldn’t have met Tracy if things hadn’t been exactly how they were. He told stories about all his failed relationships and eventual loss of hope in destiny and other things that people think are unnecessary, in order to show that all of this was creating the events that made a butterfly effect of them meeting. Ted and Robin might end up together at the end of the show but that doesn’t discount what he had with Tracy. Life sucks and things end. But that doesn’t mean that they were meaningless and it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t continue on. I think that’s what the end of the show tried to say.
On paper yeah. But the show executed the ending so badly that what it tries to say isn't at all what it actually says. Ultimately when the storytelling is so bad that people think the story is what's wrong, that's *really* bad storytelling.

People would say "yeah, she's already there but not ready yet (Robin). But, to me, Tracy would be the one. That's why this series is a sad show. But, it's similar to what happens in real life, and that's the magic! People don't get together and live happy forever.
Honestly, for me, its not her death or Ted getting back with Robin at the end that killed the magic Its the fact we spend the entirety of the final season at the wedding only to be taken through life after the wedding so quickly that the season felt off If the wedding was part of the season and the finale was the rest of the season to better digest the divorce, Robin, and Tracey's death, it would have been better

That's something I've been wondering ever since I watched the whole show, you could remove the laugh tracks and this could pass as a romantic/drama tv show and that's why I love it so much, it gets you, and I don't know what I did more while watching, laugh or think about the life lessons it teaches you a lot of times

I don't think that's how love works. I'm just a dumb 16 year old but lately I've been taught through experience that love is something you make, not something you find. You just find a person with whom you can get along and you invest in them and work on the relationship until it becomes something concrete. Maybe I'm saying this because I screwed things up with the girl I thought was the one and so now with every other girl it feels like I have to settle and stick with whoever I have.

This just breaks my heart. Tony was the one for Stella and Ted was left in the dust. I just got dumped by my basically fiancée it’s a long story and we were long distance but were deeply in love and basically engaged and had our whole life and family planned out it was destiny. She left me for her ex she never got over and said he’s the one Alex is her soulmate she couldn’t get over and even though she loves me it’s only the just thing to do to let me go. It hurts like hell and I am tired of waiting but my dream girl will get here as fast as she can and I gotta wait a little longer but it will be worth it. Everything Becky saw of our future and envisioned together I will get that with her and it will be amazing and glad I waited and didn’t force it with someone else. But in the moment it feels like a nightmare and I just want my Becky back. I just feel so alone and don’t know how to move on and get my life on track and become my best so when she does come into my life she never leaves and I am ready to start a legacy with her.

I Understand why people don’t like Stella but Ted was repeatedly pursuing her, and she said no 10 times. Also, Ted blabbed to his friends about Stella not doing it for 5 years (especially when she told him not to). It almost felt like Ted was forcing himself on her. Of course, letting Tony make a horrible movie like that was not OK.
I both loved and hated this scene so much. Stella is definitely not the kind of person who deserves to be helped after leaving Ted at the altar and then have the audacity to ask him to fix things between her and Tony. I really don't think she deserved a happy ending, atleast not with Tony of all people, father of her child yet broke up with her a second time!

Tony played by Zach would have been perfect casting. I like to think they tried to imply it in the script even though they couldn’t make it happen.
She left him and the altar and didn’t have the guts to talk to him about it or allow him closure. It was a terrible and selfish thing for a person to do so it’s not hard to hate her.

This just breaks my heart. Tony was the one for Stella and Ted was left in the dust. I just got dumped by my basically fiancée it’s a long story and we were long distance but were deeply in love and basically engaged and had our whole life and family planned out it was destiny. She left me for her ex she never got over and said he’s the one Alex is her soulmate she couldn’t get over and even though she loves me it’s only the just thing to do to let me go. It hurts like hell and I am tired of waiting but my dream girl will get here as fast as she can and I gotta wait a little longer but it will be worth it. Everything Becky saw of our future and envisioned together I will get that with her and it will be amazing and glad I waited and didn’t force it with someone else. But in the moment it feels like a nightmare and I just want my Becky back. I just feel so alone and don’t know how to move on and get my life on track and become my best so when she does come into my life she never leaves and I am ready to start a legacy with her.

I Understand why people don’t like Stella but Ted was repeatedly pursuing her, and she said no 10 times. Also, Ted blabbed to his friends about Stella not doing it for 5 years (especially when she told him not to). It almost felt like Ted was forcing himself on her. Of course, letting Tony make a horrible movie like that was not OK.
I both loved and hated this scene so much. Stella is definitely not the kind of person who deserves to be helped after leaving Ted at the altar and then have the audacity to ask him to fix things between her and Tony.
I really don't think she deserved a happy ending, atleast not with Tony of all people, father of her child yet broke up with her a second time!
