This song never gets old. Love these guys. I used to play trumpet and played the heck out of "Skyscrapers". Another great song by Deodato. It was a great warmup song for any performance, instrumental or vocal...Yeah....
Awesome. The Congo player is a world class gurner and the lead guitar was in full metal jacket. At times Eumir looks worried about what might happen next. This is a fantastic groove

This is a good performance, but I think the best live performance Deodato ever did of "Superstrut" was live at the Mississippi River Jazz Festival in 1974. That performance was recorded and published on a vinyl LP, which I have. It is truly an awesome live performance, and makes you think you are there. Tight arrangement, and the instruments are clear, alive, and distinct.

Great to see Geraldo Velez on congas! He is awesome! I saw him with Spyro Gyra several times performing in Chicago area in the years 1977-1981. After his departure, Spyro Gyra never had a steady conga player on the band again.
I met this living god of music Deodato and his charming blonde wife in 2016. This beautiful man had turned himself into a kobold that night. But who cares? God is god, so why worry about looks? He was most kind. We took pictures. It is extremely rare to be able to get oneself onto a picture with a living god.
The guitarist can't imagine the big emotion I can feel, seeing him dancing with the beat of the music, mainly at the beginning.... It's simply amazing!
