Things are looking up and by a mile high too!
OW will adopt names every year, like Fortnite does with its chapters. That's what I think it will happen, but not a literal OW 3 game to download. They need to be bold and make the big changes they wanna do it without having to create a new game to say execuses like "nah, but that was a different game, Symmetra is a support again in this game, not a damage, new game, new game". Silly example, but I'm trying to showcase drastic changes like a change of role, that players could complain and they might wanna avoid.
Im just not sure what “overwatch 3” would be. But id imagine if they did make it they would not even call it ‘overwatch 3’. Players know there is no overwatch ‘2’. Its literally just overwatch 1 but free to play in a 5 v 5 format and now with night time on maps. Thats it. The idea of ow2 being an actual sequel has become the biggest joke that now haunts the developers. So why would they want to even tread that path again is beyond me. Im sure they want to expand the game with new game modes and what not but to try and sell the players with another sequel idea this soon is foolhardy i think.
I’m surprised with the balance Blizzard’s been cooking (not counting the current Mauga meta) they seem to be getting ready for 6v6, I see them testing the tanks so that they would work in 6v6 like that one Ram patch everyone hated And until the current patch the game was actually fun but as annoying as sombra was we need her back to her original state so that widow has a big counter.
I dont really think any of these arguments are very compelling, no one doubts they are experimenting, but why that has to mean *another* sequel rather than just changing or expanding the game we already have isnt obvious from what you've said. Like, if you think OW2's reputation is terrible, putting a 3 after it won't improve that reputation at all. After all OW1 had a terrible reputation as well, everyone loved to hate it by the time OW2 was announced.
I really hope they bring back the good lore and try to expand the story. Ramattra and Mauga feel like the only good additions, but even they're stuck on the bad guy side that barely gets any story developments and plot relevance (same with Sigma)
I feel like they're going to cut back on the passives, and change the tanks to fit a new modern 6v6 beyond that I have no clue what they might plan to do. Also they might add in destructible buildings or team combos? idk it's going to be interesting now that they've finally got competition.
i take your opinion and take as 100% true because youre running the mythic ana skin with the last customization for both color and model, her mythic weapon with her gold weapon as well. the exact same customization i use so massive respect.
After playing the finals I can't help but daydream about how insane Overwatch would be with full server side environmental destruction. Just imagine rein charging thru a frickin building or wrecking ball functioning like AN ACTUAL wrecking ball.
@@itsrainingcats9968 Eh, I jus think about it in a positive way because I know it'd never happen. A much more realistic change I'd like to see for ow3 would be each hero getting 2-3 different role based ability loadouts. So if you wanted you could play a tank mei, dps rein, or support sombra.
@@paleasaghost-5799 For gamemodes, I guess in reality the only way to do it is how FInals does it's version of OW's pushmode. Instead of a robot on the push map tho, it's a giant platform that moves thru the map (sometimes literally plowing thru buildings).
Here is watch OW needs * BRING BACK FREAKING 6v6 * Bring back lore and give us animated tv series * Junkentein Lab is pretty good. Add that but for all heroes and modes and make it permanent. * Add team-up abilities like Rivals does * Hire someone like saber, arrowhead & fatshark to make a pve game. * Expand OW to other genres like RTS, RTT, RPG
I think you’re spot on. These format tests are super important. Role queue is not good imo. It causes queue time problems and the rigidity makes for stale games. The min 1 max 2 and min 1 max 3 are where I think the game will and should go. The flexibility of open queue with the stability of role lock. Gone are the days of 4 dps. The other format is 6v6, I think 6v6 will be a net good for the game but negative pr. The game will feel better but it’s ultimately “going back to ow1.” So what do they do? Going back to open queue 6v6 sounds like ow2 is completely useless. Hero talents. Guys we’ve had 2 talent tests qp hacked and junkenstein. I think Junkenstein will come back in winter with different characters for more testing. Hero talents will probably be coming to 5v5 in season 15. This will continue the hype of 6v6 while also showing the game is innovating. In season 16 they could bring 6v6 back with hero talents to even further build the hype. If they can capitalize off of the hype of 6v6 I think the game will be a giant in 2025.
Is going back to 6v6. Thats why they brought back classic for the anniversary event. Marvel Rivals will be the death of OW if they don't go back to 6v6.
Wouldn't that be fun if a modder were to somehow get the games source code and all that and actually do it up as was intended for the players and hopefully add more to the story and my personal bit, add keyboard and mouse functionality to consoles
I do agree with you on some things. But, I don’t know if it’s going to be an “Overwatch 3”. I think there’s a chance that they drop the 2, as well as maybe going back to how they used to release heroes (with cinematics & such). Maybe they keep their vision of no more PvE Archives-like missions. I think there’s a chance that different abilities get added to the game as well for current heroes. Take some of what you used for PvE & bring it into the current game. All I know is that the current state of OW2 doesn’t move me anymore. After playing “Classic”, I kind of miss a slower OW. I thought I wanted a faster one, but I don’t. I’m getting older, lol. Even though I’m just 32 😂
@@MicDubTV thanks for taking time to write! Good thoughts. Ya I think they're going to dump a bunch of stuff on us. No more highly curated one size fits all approach, instead just give players options and accept some unpopular modes may be ghost towns.
I totally agree but I feel like unless something changes at Blizzard and they start giving the team more resources, they won't have the people necessary to shake things up enough to justify reverting to Overwatch as the title. The primary means of income is skins and tons of the new heroes still have no legendaries. I just hope Xbox realizes the potential that you describe.
Every new seazon we are getting closer and closer to getting back OW1 XD I think they for sure are thinking about 6v6 to be a real main or second gamemode in this game soon, and im so for it 5v5 is shit
I agree something big is definitely coming. I believe they are changing more than what we think. We are gonna end up going back to 6v6 but it’s gonna be more than that for sure. Junkensteins lab popularity proved that people want a deeper experience and more options with how to play the game. Some sort of talent system is going to be apart of the big changes coming.
i cant wait for 4v4 lol 1 tank 1 support 2 dps don't forget new monetization schemes and Aron Keller leaving to be replaced by a junior and less experienced developer and ow2s instant deletion
Interesting. I don't know enough about the behind-the-scenes details to directly challenge your points, but what I can say is that Overwatch is still, to this day and since day 1, one of my all-time favorite games, and that is DESPITE the tremendous mismanagement of the entire IP over the last several years. If they were ever to get their proverbial shit together, I do think that Overwatch can realize much of that unrealized potential it always had. I don't know if a new game is in Overwatch's future, but I do think that it is abundantly clear that some very big changes are coming, because a hell of a lot of small changes have been happening rapid fire. They are clearly not giving up on Overwatch yet.
I loved Overwatch, but I wouldn't return, even if they reverted everything back, just the way it was. Because it just wouldn't be the same anymore. They had a great game, with great momentum - and then lost it all. There's no coming back after that, from such a big failure.
watch it become like the garden warfare series…. Garden warfare 1 -> Garden Warfare 2 -> Battle fore neighbourville (except overwatch 2 is worse than 1)
Thats why Rivals might actually do it. It might actually kill it. Overwatch wasnt dying due to lore and the feel of charcters, but how can u beat FEELS LIKE WE ARE SPIDERMAN. Even if u are genji u are a cyborg ninja u climb the walls llke spiderman. You want to be a Hanzo with a bow or a Hawkeye who can actually deflect the projectile and hold his own in melee. The only thing that rivals for sticking players in future can do is make 2x the amount of dps instead of tanks and supports. If they want good player retention just make more tanks and supports and you will get it.
yeah that in a way sorta tracks with how blizzard's ow2 has been trying really hard to kill workshop and custom games the last year. to get as much data as possible. but as a mainly casual custom player i'm really sad.
Honestly? A very compelling argument, and I think you could well be right. I don't know if it will be a literal "Overwatch 3," or if it will be something else that's spiritually equivilent, but I do agree that they need to move away from the OW2 branding because it has too much baggage associated with it at this point. I'm not a doomer when it comes to this game though. Quite the contrary - I think they're been doing great at exploring options and figuring out what the community wants, and I think the franchise has a very bright future ahead of it, and that we've yet to experience the golden age of Overwatch 😊❤
Getting rid of loot boxes was an over correction and took a lot of the reward out of just playing the game. Like sure, i just had a shitty match but at least i had loot to earn. Now it’s just shit matches with paid for content. Overwatch refresh without the number won’t really fix it and i feel like Blizzard would never walk that sort of monetization backwards.
@@eddielopez6731 1000% agreed! I was going to talk about that but when I started writing it I realized that's a video unto itself. Losing those cinematics was devastating. The new cartoon shorts they do just don't cut it.

very good video! great points and well thoughtout video i can tell there was good research props to you! and yeah to me overwatch died when they put the 2 behind it. 5v5 was the biggest mistake and game suffers from inbalance raid boss tanks because of the format
I don't expect any big announcements. But if they do come around with overwatch 3 in a year or so without the PvE they promised, or some other substantial content that isn't a glorified balance patch, it's all going to be an even bigger shit show than overwatch 2 Can you imagine the community response if they rereleased and repackaged the same game for a third time?
It always felt like they just didn't know what they were doing with it. I had faith in OW2 because OW1 was already built on flimsy foundations, and working on them sounded good ... but they half-assed it. Now they're talking about experimenting with 6v6 again, how they could support both 5v5 and 6v6 at the same time ... They're trying so hard to do whatever sticks, but they can't find how to make it great Something like Overwatch Next isn't really far-fetched, but the most crazy part in my eyes is them actually having a good vision for the game. Tanks and dps aren't different enough, supports have way too much heal. Just have supports focused on utility and tanks about communication/callouts/protection (while actually having these be rewarding, which was the main issue in OW1) and now there's no need to have role queue because quickplay can be fun without a tank or a support People are saying that 6v6 is best ... while forgetting that they most likely left the game a huge while before Echo was released. 5v5 is SO MUCH better in soloQ there's no question about that. But 6v6 with friends oh man .... OW classic confirmed me that I've been missing the memories, not the game
I dont follow your argument that because Overwatch is rapidly changing this means they are experimenting with Overwatch 3. We already had a sequel to Overwatch, and what happened during that period before it came out? Content drought and stagnant meta for over a year! The current stage of Overwatch doesnt indicate to me they are working on Overwatch 3 more than it indicates Blizzard is incredibly insecure and directionless after the disaster that was Overwatch 2s development, and they are trying anything to claw back relevance.
Whatever happens, take the time to make Tracer the proper mascot again. I'm tired of seeing Sojourn's face every time I boot up the game on the PS5. Sojourn is fun in the game but enough of this silly nonsense. Tracer and Winston are the real mascots of OW.
But if they do it the Smite 2 way,… well it s not gona go well :). After the lost of the pve, the fail of ow2, the constant disappinting meta etc…, if u launch ow3 without the skins accumulated for years…
Because in a normal situation, all our skin should be gone because a sequel should be a totally different game with new art, new mechanics, new hero design with new hitbox and a new engine … all of these making the transfer of old skins almost impossible. Like in the case of smite 2 that i mentioned. Players are gona lose almost all their skins. And they are mad. 10 years old game with players deeply invested in it. But like I said, overwatch cant do that realistically after all the negatives they have done and the betrail and false promisses. Also they wont redo the game from scratch. But i really think they should. It s a old game now. The engine is limited in terms of effects for example.
this video wont go viral im pretty sure.. but i will remember it. I will come back in a year and if you were right i will actually subscribe and start watching you

(and have been communicating just as much too) Which is why I am very hopeful and excited!
TL:DR: I have hope in the devs & the future of overwatch. Desipte their past mistakes and flaws.
@@renanrichel great thoughts! Thanks!
The ONLY reason they are hinting at changes is because they know Rivals is about to crush them lol
After Rivals comes out, it's either OW will keep improving or go downhill, lol.
overwatch 3 4v4, no tanks
Im just not sure what “overwatch 3” would be. But id imagine if they did make it they would not even call it ‘overwatch 3’. Players know there is no overwatch ‘2’. Its literally just overwatch 1 but free to play in a 5 v 5 format and now with night time on maps. Thats it. The idea of ow2 being an actual sequel has become the biggest joke that now haunts the developers. So why would they want to even tread that path again is beyond me. Im sure they want to expand the game with new game modes and what not but to try and sell the players with another sequel idea this soon is foolhardy i think.
I’m surprised with the balance Blizzard’s been cooking (not counting the current Mauga meta) they seem to be getting ready for 6v6, I see them testing the tanks so that they would work in 6v6 like that one Ram patch everyone hated
And until the current patch the game was actually fun but as annoying as sombra was we need her back to her original state so that widow has a big counter.
After all OW1 had a terrible reputation as well, everyone loved to hate it by the time OW2 was announced.
ow2 feels like that kid you were best friends with in elementary school and havnt seen in a decade and now you cant relate with them in any way
@@TheyCallMeReo420 lol, and they're currently squatting in someone else's mansion.
When marvel rivals come out overwatch Q times gone be 1hr
i take your opinion and take as 100% true because youre running the mythic ana skin with the last customization for both color and model, her mythic weapon with her gold weapon as well. the exact same customization i use so massive respect.
Lol, that's a justifiable reason if I've ever seen one. :). Thnx for taking time to write.
@ScottyGG fr tho great video, its structured and edited very well, also your studio is clearn af. You gained my subscription
im pretty sure you are right and thats whats scares me. great video btw
After playing the finals I can't help but daydream about how insane Overwatch would be with full server side environmental destruction. Just imagine rein charging thru a frickin building or wrecking ball functioning like AN ACTUAL wrecking ball.
That seems like a horrible pipedream that would only benefit a couple characters and screw over the rest.
How do you balance maps? But insane idea for a gamemode with only characters that benefit from the mechanic.
@@paleasaghost-5799
For gamemodes, I guess in reality the only way to do it is how FInals does it's version of OW's pushmode. Instead of a robot on the push map tho, it's a giant platform that moves thru the map (sometimes literally plowing thru buildings).
Bad take
Here is watch OW needs
* BRING BACK FREAKING 6v6
* Bring back lore and give us animated tv series
* Junkentein Lab is pretty good. Add that but for all heroes and modes and make it permanent.
* Add team-up abilities like Rivals does
* Hire someone like saber, arrowhead & fatshark to make a pve game.
* Expand OW to other genres like RTS, RTT, RPG
@@ZeroOne130 nice seeing you again!
@@ScottyGG Same :).
they just need to put their shit together and expand on the lore, even make a separate game of the same franchise
If they can capitalize off of the hype of 6v6 I think the game will be a giant in 2025.
i always knew ana mains were the only respectable support mains
@@UneasyTortoise lol, Pharah or Widow main?
@@ScottyGG just a bitter genji main obviously
OW3 need to be what OW2 was supossed to be with pve and 6v6 and balanced the game
Some sort of talent system is going to be apart of the big changes coming.
i cant wait for 4v4 lol
1 tank
1 support
2 dps
don't forget new monetization schemes and Aron Keller leaving to be replaced by a junior and less experienced developer and ow2s instant deletion
And remove payload maps.
1 support lmao imagine trying to play zen or lucio
@@H4VOK_YT no no your forgetting
Giga supports not normal supports
@@SpeedKing.. But don't worry the original cast is gonna get another reskin for ow3
@@zeroz294 oh my bad how foolish of me!
Garden warfare 1 -> Garden Warfare 2 -> Battle fore neighbourville (except overwatch 2 is worse than 1)
Garden Warfare 1 is one of my all time favorites. Great thought, thnx!
@ no problem! i play alot of garden warfare and i feel like overwatch will go the bfn route if they mae an overwatch 3, which is pretty sh1t
I just hope that they start exploring the lore at the very least
@@eddielopez6731 1000% agreed! I was going to talk about that but when I started writing it I realized that's a video unto itself. Losing those cinematics was devastating. The new cartoon shorts they do just don't cut it.
This video is just an excuse for the sick Ana montage
@@drgabi18 lol, you have no idea how close to the truth that is. :). Thanks for taking time to write. Much appreciated.
Bring back 6v6 keep 5v5, bring us our castlevania/edgerunners, remember the damn story and lore. Start from there. Hazard seems cleaeky designed for 6v6.
I want loot boxes back
Ive been saying this since OW2 dropped. Lootboxes were the main reason I played OW1
Bringing back loot boxes means having the game banned in EU. How do people still not know this?
@hugo-zi6gm I dont live in the EU... idgaf about them, I care about the game I bought for full price that was taken from me and replaced with OW2.
guys i feel like this guy likes playing ana
If they make an overwatch 3 the fanbases trust will be in the toilet and they'll get so much backlash
very good video! great points and well thoughtout video i can tell there was good research props to you!
and yeah to me overwatch died when they put the 2 behind it. 5v5 was the biggest mistake and game suffers from inbalance raid boss tanks because of the format
I actually wouldn't be surprised
I don't expect any big announcements. But if they do come around with overwatch 3 in a year or so without the PvE they promised, or some other substantial content that isn't a glorified balance patch, it's all going to be an even bigger shit show than overwatch 2
Can you imagine the community response if they rereleased and repackaged the same game for a third time?
It always felt like they just didn't know what they were doing with it.
I had faith in OW2 because OW1 was already built on flimsy foundations, and working on them sounded good ... but they half-assed it. Now they're talking about experimenting with 6v6 again, how they could support both 5v5 and 6v6 at the same time ... They're trying so hard to do whatever sticks, but they can't find how to make it great
Something like Overwatch Next isn't really far-fetched, but the most crazy part in my eyes is them actually having a good vision for the game.
Tanks and dps aren't different enough, supports have way too much heal. Just have supports focused on utility and tanks about communication/callouts/protection (while actually having these be rewarding, which was the main issue in OW1) and now there's no need to have role queue because quickplay can be fun without a tank or a support
People are saying that 6v6 is best ... while forgetting that they most likely left the game a huge while before Echo was released.
Tracer and Winston are the real mascots of OW.
overwatch 3: overwatch 1
you are wrong about a lot. there is not enough players to have 5v5 and 6v6 especially in comp bc there is no cross play and will never be
6v6 currently has shorter Q times than 5v5.. there are enough people.

Excellent video

Great video 👍
Great sleeps all video
I m ok for that … as long as we keep ALL our f SKINS.
But if they do it the Smite 2 way,… well it s not gona go well :). After the lost of the pve, the fail of ow2, the constant disappinting meta etc…, if u launch ow3 without the skins accumulated for years…
They will get hit by another lawsuit if they do lol, they sell them for money why would they ever take them away?
I will come back in a year and if you were right i will actually subscribe and start watching you
it might
