- Brief: Our client had a specific request for his new Morgan 3-wheeler. He wanted this vehicle to have a soul and to be fun for people seeing it. The request was for a specific look of mix between American B17 flying fortress and British Supermarine Spitfire fighter aircraft. We had to create an illusion of a metal body composed of metal plates riveted together and worn by time with rust in direction of travel. Client had a specific idea about graphics inspired mainly by Spitfire fighter.
Solution: Our graphic designer created a mockup to fit client’s brief and after a couple of amendments we had final visual to achieve. We started dismantling the chassis in order to get access for wrapping and almost nothing was left on the vehicle. Wheel arches were powder-coated in our own Wheels Respray workshop. Over 20 different rivet models were layered from various vinyls in order to achieve a perfect 3D look. Body was wrapped from chrome vinyl pieces corresponding the design. When all parts were wrapped we air-brushed rust on places metals would connect on an aircraft as well as under all rivets. All graphic decals were printed, laminated and carefully placed on the vehicle. As the last protective measure we ceramic coated every surface 2x times to reflect sun rays and make the top coat hydrophobic.
