    Adam Sessler is by far the best interviewer on Rev 3 Games, Max is a close second! Great interview!

    Peter Molyneux has a brilliant passion that I think triumphs over the majority of game developers today.
    Unfortunately his promises get wrapped up in the passion and after a number of disappointments, has lead people to a powerful skepticism in his work or his ability to live up to his hype.
    It's really sad because I think in our hearts, we all want to truly believe in his passion. However being let down so often, it's difficult to ever see substance in it anymore.

  • @SilverAura
    @SilverAura 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's a little unnecessary.
    Molyneux has the ambition and passion that most game developers lack. It's just unfortunate that he can't bring those ideas into full bloom like I'm sure he wants to.
    Don't get me wrong, I think it's a big, probably incredibly stupid risk for anyone to donate to this because he's let us down so much, but don't hate the guy for his passion. Express disappointment in his outcome.

    All I was saying was respect Peter's decision. That's all. And not all games have to be expensive. Same goes for movies, I've seen great movies that had budgets anywhere from $7000 to under 30,000 grand. It's entirely possible in today's market.

    I love these interviews Adam is doing. He is a good interviewer. Lets the interviewee talk and only speaks when directed to or to advance the conversation.

  • @FoundationsofPause
    @FoundationsofPause 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    How about you don't butt into a conversation that has nothing to do with you then? I was just replying that the guy who was bashing Peter's choices to make the games HE wants to make.

  • @Arrivedearly
    @Arrivedearly 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah, he left Lionhead Studios and Microsoft and made 22 Cans. He's not working on Fable, but that doesn't necessarily mean that there are going to be no more Fable games.

  • @FoundationsofPause
    @FoundationsofPause 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you watch the video though, he's stated he's not the rich guy everyone thinks he is, all his fable money went back into that company. After all. Game making is expensive.

  • @Arrivedearly
    @Arrivedearly 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The technology he wanted to use, which was Project Natal). But, they had to seriously dumb down it to Kinect to work with the 360, hence why it sucked.

  • @FoundationsofPause
    @FoundationsofPause 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's exactly what Peter is talking about. There's a mindset in typical studios.. they're droning on and just repeating themselves. Change is good.

  • @ripoutyourprejudice
    @ripoutyourprejudice 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Look I respect what the guy has done in the past and I know that more recent games we're not easy to make, I know that making a game is the equivalent to building a Space Shuttle... but that doesn't excuse his faults in the industry. We should really learn what the word humble and being honest to your audience IS. And being more straightforward in your design philosophy isn't a bad thing Molyneux, your game doesn't need to be hyped like the best game since the creation of the universe to be good

    i like quicktime events loved ninjablade because it was over the top and absurd and i loved playing asuras wrath since im heavily into anime. just because you dont like them doesnt mean EVERYONE does. if the game like asura's wrath or ninjablade are advertised as having quicktime and built around that then you cant get angry at the game but when a game like RE6 has them and shouldnt have them fair enough. but you do have a point tho some devs are stupid and dont listen to their community

  • @YamiKyougi13
    @YamiKyougi13 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    While I did not enjoy Fable 2 and Fable 3 was appalling, this isn't to say he is a bad developer. Everyone makes a bad product in their career, everyone fails at some point. But at least the failures of these games were because they took a risk and tried something different. Fable 3 was terrible, but because the concepts at play were interesting just not properly implimented.
    He is a passionate game designer, follow any of his stuff to see that. He is a positive force in gaming.

    I love Peter Molyneux. He is like a kid in a candy store of fantasy and wonder. Imagination is what games are all about, and he has always imagined with the best of them in creating his games. Has he said more than he should have at times? Yes. Has he dreamed beyond the possibilities of the times? Yes. Has he made a lot of great games with groundbreaking qualities? Absolutely, yes.
    I appreciate him dearly. I wish him all the best going forward.

  • @RizziSmoove
    @RizziSmoove 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lol he left a stable, likely well paying job to form and fund his own studio when could've made fable games for the next 10 years (they were selling better every time).
    It's fine to be disappointed with some of the things he said compared to what ended up in stores but my issue is with people thinking Molyneux had malicious intent from the start. He thinks big and is disappointed when the tech available doesn't deliver. I'm sure this happens frequently in AAA development.

  • @LaPlanteGary
    @LaPlanteGary 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I never understood the hate for Peter Molyneux, the games he makes are generally pretty damn good, yes he does sometimes strive to make games more ambitious than the technology will allow it to be, but is that necessarily a bad thing? He may not come through on his bodacious promises but hell, I'm glad someone in the gaming industry is striving to make something truly revolutionary even if they do fail to meet that level.

  • @jwalker67
    @jwalker67 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The thing about Peter is that he is a born to be visionary. He looks past the veil of what games are and sees what games can be, and he constantly tries to aim for what he sees beyond that veil. Though, due to technological complications or corporate limitations,many of his promises and much of his hype works against him when the end result is released
    I think Peter has good intentions, and is much to demonized by the gaming community, though that is their own fault for over hyping themselves.

  • @Chronologger
    @Chronologger 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah he's come up short with a few of his promises, but when you think about it how many games really do keep all the hyped up promises made at their conception? Not many I'd wager.
    Also like what blessedspirit said, I'd much rather have a developer who is actually willing to try new things like curiosity than developers who are all about maximizing sales and appealing to a wider audience, you HAVE to give him credit for that in this industry.

  • @Xellot
    @Xellot 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Peter Molyneux just seems so pompous in his views of gaming, and game design. He has a grand vision, I'll give him that, but he hasn't been able to fully execute any of them since the days of Black and White. Fable 1 was his swan song, in my opinion, and everything he's produced since then has been sub-par and hasn't held up to the expectations he provided to us, the consumers. The man needs to lower the bar, rather than raise it.

  • @BeardedOTP
    @BeardedOTP 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've never understood why developers won't learn from their mistakes, it's like each new project is their first and they've forgotten everything from the lat one. I mean quick time events blow and NO ONE likes them, yet we seen it being used over and over again? Dear developer: are you trying to piss me off?!

    peter gets a bad rap, heres a guy who just gets excited about the games he makes and so many ideas he wants to do. and i think the fact hes british works against him, serious! does he not seem more believable, credible, than say cliff B, or (hate myself at moment)double fine..who as gaming geniuses themselves but u take them with a grain of salt

    It's not his passion I hate him for it's all the BS he has fed me through the years. You can do this and you can do that, buy my game!! Then a year later his games don't include even 10% of what he promised. I'm all for supporting talent but I know a bullshitter when I see one.

    Its to soon to call Bungie an "indie company".
    Since a game must be launched without outside publishing first, to be considered indie.
    Project Destiny is the only game they've announced, and it's under the flag of Activision. The Company itself is independent, but it's next title sure isn't.

  • @Waluweegee
    @Waluweegee 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    There's a reason why nobody's supporting your Kickstarter. Because every single one of your games besides Fable and Black and White had almost none of the things that you said you'd include.
    The very last straw was Fable 2, where all you could do was play dress up with your character. What the hell.

    one of the reason you start a kickstarter for anything is to see IF anyone is interested in it. It has very very little to do with money over all it does enough people want to see this happen or put your money where your mouth is

    While GODUS doesn't seem like a game I would enjoy even the slightest, it's nice to see a developer that really wants to make a game for people that actually enjoy the genre, and don't want to see it ruined. Rarely do we get someone like that.

    Molyneux is like a carton of milk, 3 years past it's due date. I'm not annoyed that he's using kickstarter. I'm annoyed that he's going to release another broken game that's no fun. He's a has been, like George Lucas...
