  • Learn about our use with ExtendDay in our Fuji block. ExtendDay is a thin reflective plastic that we tried for the first time to achieve higher color apples.
Dave talks about some of our training practices in our high density trellis system. In this block we are growing lots of varieties of apples, but the particular one we are looking at here is Pink Lady.
Finally, we are in the "arch" trellis of GoldRush (which is also where Sidney and Anthony were married in April) where Dave talks about our pheromone mating disruption to decrease the pressure of insects like Codling Moth and Oriental Fruit Moth.

Several years ago I overheard someone saying how good Fuji apples are so I tried some and fell in love with them. Now, Fuji is the only apple I buy for fresh eating and I eat one or two nearly every day. Gala comes in second for me.

I am glad I got to see this video so I could see the Pink Lady apple trees. I am ordering a pink lady to grow in my yard this spring. But I'm concerned because these Pink Ladies look like there completely red where are the Pink Ladies that I have been buying from the grocery stores are yellow apples with a light pink blush on one side. The Pink Ladies on the online web store nurseries also show photos of the Pink Ladies that are completely red just like the ones on this video. I hope I am not getting the wrong kind but I know the ones I buy from the grocery stores are also called Pink Ladies.

Pink Lady is a Trademarked name for "Cripp's Pink". Cripps Pink is a bicolor apple, however, to meet "pink lady" standards, and be able to legally apply for and be sold as "pink lady", it has to meet certain size and color requirements. It's mostly aesthetics and marketing.

How on earth can they grow apples organically with so many natural foes? No wonder they price em so hi. You'ns seem to minimize chem use fairly well.
