Kareri Lake || Kareri Lake Trek || A Lake In The Lap Of Dhauladhar Mountains

Kareri is small hamlet in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. It is located at a distance of 26 km from Dharamshala bus stand. The nearest airport is Gaggal/Kangra Airport which is at a distance of 24 km & Pathankot is the nearest railway station 96 km away. This village is one of the most beautiful & peaceful places in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Although there are not many hotels or homestays here but still a lot of people visit this village everyday because of a lake that's named after it which is "Kareri Lake"
The trek for this lake starts from another village called Nohli which is 4 km from Kareri. The total length of this trek is 10km starting from Nohli bridge and its quite an easy trek for beginners. The lake is situated approximately at an altitude of 3000m nestled in between the beautiful Dhauladhar ranges. There are multiple camping sites up there with proper food facilities. One can either book a cab or rent a vehicle to reach this village as there are only a limited number buses that come here that too on fixed days & time. This 10km trek takes you through the beautiful forest area filled with a wide variety of plants, trees and flowers. The trek is opened almost the whole year even when there's snow up there. The lake has got a holy lord Shiva and goddess Durga temple & could also be used as a starting point for some other treks like "Minkaini Pass" or the "7 Lakes" trek.
