For the Sur Ron rear shock get a EXT rear shock. They design and make them specifically for the Sur Ron’s and when you buy them you also choose a spring rate for rider weight. Super robust shock, definitely grab one!
Also, EBMX makes a motocross shock & swing arm linkage for the Surron. The shutting off issue is most likely the bake sensors disconnect them and it should help with that, also there is a tip sensor that triggers if the bike is laid to much to one side it could also be disconnected but not advised because it shuts the power off if you reck it...
As a newer dad who has watch Deegan since early 2000s the best part of his video is the dad advice and little tricks he sprinkles in the videos to just let your kids chase their dreams and you just support them in what they wanna do instead of forcing something.

Check out the EXT Arma MX. Great shock that comes custom tuned to rider weight. Specifically made for Sur Ron. I run EXT on all my electric bikes and even have the EXT e-Storia on my specialized turbo levo EMTB.
I have the Vonkat shocks on my Sur Ron’s and they’ve held up to a ton of pit bike track racing! I’m in Central Florida and have a couple here on the shelf too if you guys want to try one out.

In the 70's, when a kid could buy his own brand new bike and none of our parents ever rode,---we bought them to ride around, (nobody cared if you rode on their property when they were new), explore the world, meet other kids on bikes,---and get away from our parents. It was a freedom that grew an independence within us. Now we had baby sitters when we were little a bit, but once we grew old enough to not have to hire a baby sitter, our parents stopped doing it too. That is probably part of the reason why I have a spirit of freedom more than most Americans today, as we now beg for a government baby sitter.
But, on the movie "On any Sunday 2", there is a man who takes his kid racing and said, "I have spent every Sunday for the last 5 years with my kid. How many parents can say that?". That was cool.
Brian! you make that can am look fun. I've never really thought much of that kind of off roading. but yeah. kinda got the itch. it looks painful to be stuck in a seat unable to absorb things with your legs.
When tightening the chain, there are notches on the swing arm and a notch on the spacer, just have to keep them even, which is better than counting how many times you turn the adjustment nut. Electric bike chain should be kept tighter. A loose chain is okay if it has a chain guide going into the rear sprocket so be careful when you put larger tire on the rear. But you guys are pros, just a tip, thanks for putting out something for us, my daughter and I enjoy your videos

I picked up a Nitrogen fill kit for shocks and started working on my own, (and lowered my bike). I have not done any re-valving, but the rest is really pretty easy. Race Tech prints an excellent "Suspension Bible" to show you all the steps also, (forks and shocks).
You'll need a full 85 front end if you want to go that route. If you want the lighter air forks go with a 2018+ KTM 85, prior forks utilized a dual cartridge spring. I'd honestly remove all the sensors (both brakes, kickstand, and tip) so the bike doesn't cut power when jumping ect. For the rear suspension check out the EBMX YSS rear shock and linkage. Bit pricey but it is a motorcycle part retro fitted for a Sur Ron. The Vonkat TENfive also gets a lot of love for a MTB part. Charged cycle works carries parts and are pretty experienced when it comes to builds. Also for rebuilds/tuning charged cycle works does a lot of suspension work or turn to someone in the MTB world like Dirtlabs.

In the mid to late 70's with my first MX bikes that I bought, I had to learn to work on them if I wanted to ride them, and I wanted to ride them. That experience actually spurred me into manufacturing and earning a couple of engineering degrees later in life. But I was still just above poverty because of shipping our production to communism in china (starting in the 80's). I started a business almost 20 years ago porting little 2-stroke engines, and got myself out of poverty. A fried of mine a bit older, (62 now), had a mother who would not get him a bike at the age of 8, so he put his own together and started riding it in the yard. She saw him riding it and morally said, "I can't take it from him. He made it.", and today, he owns a 60,000 sq/ft manufacturing facility full of robotics with 35 employees making all the gas tanks and fenders for Indian Motorcycles, (and other customers.). He likes to get out of town once in a while for some dirt bike riding, like in Chili. There was a lot more opportunity to grab than just winning races.
I have an electronic carbon fiber sk8 board and it vibrates in the control that I have when its aboutto die! I'm surprised the bikes don't do some crazy vibration in the grips or seat 🤷♂️

You would need to get fox shocks they are mtb shock but i have them on my surron and they hold to when you case jumps and when you over jump things
Seems like Surrons would have a visible charge level indicator? It indeed would suck to lose power right when you need it, but surely there's a gauge?
EXT Shocks are a dream, they’re MTB but they work really well and are super customizable
