2018 X3 G01 20d owner here. My vehicle gives me a mileage of 16 - 18 kmpl on highway. For a 4.71m long 1.9 ton vehicle sitting high up is an incredible achievement and not to mention the way she picks up speed - 7.8 secs to the 100. I drive at a constant speed of 80 -90. At this speed, the engine is at a lazy pace of 1300 rpm. The turbo does not kick in at this speed and thats one of the main reasons consumption is low. When in sports mode, the AT will shift down and keep the engine above 1750rpm(turbo on) ready to pounce at the press of the accelerator. In this mode it burns a lot of fuel. The rpm where the turbo kicks in and the choice of mileage and where the max torque happens is all a delicate balance. Bimmer boys get it right much to our enjoyment... all the time.

Hi Ajay, both the cars are awesome. If mileage is your priority then go with diesel one, otherwise you can prefer GT.

Tough choice. I'll go with new one. Now days service cost with private garage is reasonable, but if any part goes bad then it could burn a hole in pocket. But then again it's not the case always.

My driving conditions are AC ON 19
COMFORT MODE
MOSTLY DROVE IN CITY
And I got fuel economy of 8 kmpl in city and 12 kmpl on highway
5 kmpl on sport mode!!!
Petrol mileage is less, as my daily travel is high I decided to stick to diesel. But you can't beat the performance of M sport with diesel 😉

I think petrol gives 10km per litre on average and diesel will be 15km per litre ! Combining highways and city ride .
3 series is best 20km highway and city 15 to 16

It totally depends on your need. So, if you want good mileage, go with the diesel version. If you want sportiness then go with M Sport. Prices are the same for top variants, petrol is less expensive.

How is 330i M sports? Is that worth to buy?
It's very subjective, BMW 3 series as a car is very solid, no competitors can beat it as of now. So if you want performance to your daily drive you can definitely go for it.

Tough choice and it is subjective too. I think you may not get diesel option in A4, so if you want strictly diesel then 3 series. But overall 3 Series is winner I guess(I drove both).
