I love Batman Forever. I really hate the fans that say Batman Forever is very bad because it's not over-the-top dark. As you hear in this interview Joel Schumacher was not trying to make a dark movie. He was trying to bring a comic book to life which he did beautifully! Thank you Joel Schumacher!
He did a great job bringing it to life and he's right, Val looked great in the batsuit
Schumacher is an underrated director. The Client, The lost boys, Tideland and Phone booth are all great films.

This real life villain even bragged about having sex with over 20,000 people. As ugly as he is, it’s obvious most of it was not consensual. There’s only 365 days in a year so if it was 1 different person each day, it would take 54 years to get to that number. How is that even possible unless he was involved in human trafficking ring. I feel bad for all the victims.

Yeah I actually had fun with this movie lol. It’s not a great film by any stretch but as long as you don’t take it too seriously, it’s good fun to watch and is entertaining. I didn’t mind this at all- but there’s no excusing the sequel to this one lol.

I personally think Batman Forever is the best live action Batman movie. I love everything in this movie.

Batman Forever was perfect for the time it was released and I was the perfect age to really enjoy it at 12 years old! I loved Summer 95!
I like Batman Forever, but I can accept that it's not a good movie. But I can also accept that Joel Schumacher put his all into the film and I can appreciate that

Joel could have made an amazing Batman film. Lost Boys showed his potential as a director.
But he didn't. He killed the batman franchise for eight years until our lord and saviour Christopher nolan and everyone else involved gave us of the best series of films and that is the dark knight trilogy!

Wow, I really enjoyed his words about Jim Carrey. People tend to oversee it, but he's absolutely right "Comedy is hard, dying is easy". Jim is a true professional, he makes it look easy, but that's the brilliance of it, it is a hard work.
Falling Down your best movie every and a movie that hits hard for a lot of people Joel, thank you for bringing us that film, and I hope you're resting in peace.
Batman Forever is a flawed film but I feel that Val Kilmer gave a strong performance, the direction was controversial and I wasn’t a huge fan of Two-Face in this portrayal. Still the film was a huge commercial success and made for pure Batman fanboy entertainment and marketability.

The man never had anything to apologize for. He made two, while not exactly "good", still passion-fueled, energetic, lively, zany, and all around fascinating takes on Batman, even if they were far from terrific films. His interpretation on Batman is no less valid than others regardless of how silly one views it, or others.

If Batman Forever had the serious tone of Batman '89, it would have been f'n awesome. Robin should have been 6-8 years younger or have O'Donnell just be Nightwing, and through brief flashbacks show Two-Face kill the Grayson family and as Robin. That would have kicked ass.

The movie sure is a living comic book. I think he nailed it, even though the script is campy. This movie is so much fun to watch
It is really hard creating a great movie, I'll admit that batman forever and batman and robin are not as good as the other batman films but we need to admire him because without him creating these films we would never have got a movie with. Mr freeze, riddler, poison ivy and some parts of the film are brilliant just needs to be sorted out but I am thankful for the films that he created. They are fun to watch but there just not as good as nolans and burtons. Don't give him hate, he's a good director

he is a very good director but Zack is too Dawn of the Dead,300,Watchmen,Man of steel (yes,I loved that film) Just beacuase he had 2 or 3 not well recived doesn't mean he is a terrible or even a bad director, even Steven Spielberg had pretty bad movies just see ''Always'' and ''Kingdom of the Crystal Skull'', very horrible movies.
I enjoy both director's style of directing. Each brings something different to the table.
Both are great in their own way. It’s not a fact that one is better than the other

I h@te this guy so much for what he said about val.. Val knew batman and tried to be true and dark.. He was treated like a puppet and told to stand where he's supposed to.. They gave him an impossible suit that shrinks after two weeks and he hyper ventilates in it.. And then Schumacher (who did batman and Robin when val quit. That gives u an indication of how much val was important to make the movie work).. Schumacher called him difficult and impossible just because he wanted to do his job right? When he asked why the character did something.. Schumacher said : you're batman.. You go on with it!
It's meant to be entertainment, not a heavy movie...
And it all went to shit after that.
Like if the Burton films ware heavy movies

Batman Forever is way better then Batman Returns, people who say otherwise are deluding themselves. Tim burton didn't have a clue what it takes to make a Batman film and he didn't understand the Batman character. Whereas Joel Schumacher is a Batman fan and he understands the character.
Plus Batman Forever took more money at the box office then Batman Returns and Val Kilmer is a better Batman/Bruce Wayne then Michael Keaton.

It's a better Batman movie but not a better movie than Returns.
No way batman returns is better the dark tone Tim Burton made batman more scary and spooky and Tim Burton's batmans gave you nightmares and Val kilmer is more athletic and agile than keaton I agree and Val is a cool batman but just in all the wrong scenery of neon lights and kids play. Micheal keatons batman was scouting the villians and a dark tone to a eerie spooky scenery and micheal keatons batman endings have a story not like forever and batman and robin micheal keaton is the original batman.

@Kyle Jett Warner Brothers Studios felt that Batman Returns was too dark and violent for younger audiences. There were strong creative differences between Tim Burton and W&B production execs. That’s why they toned the film down and brought in Joel as the directors gave the film more humor and a “Campy” vibe with the less scary villains.
