Every time Tom says "coin" I want to yell at the screen "IT'S A MINT!"

Glad to see a review of this. I got it via the Kickstarter and have been extremely impressed with it, having played with 2 and 3 players (and I think it would work great with 4 too). I agree with Tom - it's simple, but packs more of a punch than you expect. A proper filler with some weight, rather than just a silly random game.

I love this game and it 's one of the best KS games I've backed. It works for so many situations. I bring it to work and play with people during lunch...everyone loves it. This is by far my favorite micro-game.

Tom please do a video series about Goodbye to Games from your shelf. The joy they brought and memories you had of them.

I kept seeing this game everywhere and I was thinking "ugh, it must be a silly micro party game or whatever". But it's actually a micro engine building worker placement? color me impressed. I have to get it now

such a fun game. I brought it to a few restaurants and played it before my food has arrived. I got the waiters and waitresses every time to want to go and buy it as well

The manual was actually this specific size to keep everything in place when you open the tin, but it can be a bit annoying to get it in and out.

Steve Fratus yeah I'm thinking about that aswell, it seems tou still have the issue with stuff falling out when you try to pry the manual out :-D

So by not paying to have the corners cut on their rulebook, they're cutting corners on the materials?

  • @krisfroyum6986

First thing I did, was trim the corners on my rule book. Solo variant opponent cards are good and play very differently from each other.

It's a great little filler. I was one of the "playtesters" for the game & have seen the evolution. Can't wait for his next game.

Tom, excellent review as always. I've noticed that you're consistently skeptical of microgames. Are there others that similarly impressed you?

One of the rare PNPs Tom has reviewed, It's pretty good as a 'filler' WP game. IIRC, this was part of a PNP mint tin game competition and did very well, which prompted the kickstarter and eventual release. Granted, the contest release did have some unbalances in the game, with the Lotto being a gamebreaker (Pay 4 to build a random card from the top of the deck. If the owner gets the building and 4 mints, nothing can stop them from using it to build the rest of their 7 that way if they can keep their opponents below 4 mints or put themself in a position to always take it)

So what you're saying is that it's not a PNP? He's not reviewing a PNP here - he's reviewing a fully produced game. Technically every game starts out as a PNP (prototype).

TheLomdr I don't think the lotto is a game breaker. You can only purchase plans with the lotto location! you cannot build with the location like you said! So you need 6 mints and 2 actions to build a building! So it's often better to buy from the plan supply. I played the games over 50 times and I see no problem with the lotto. Also most of the times lotto wasn't a very popular location because the advantage was ok but there are some cards that are better.
If the owner gets that building and 4 mints he can only buy a plan so he is far away to have 7 stars. And how can the lotto owner keep the opponents under 4 mints and put themself in a position to always take it?

Probably the best micro game since Love Letter. Last time we played I won almost by accident. (tied with the smallest hood). My only complaint is there is NOT enough mints in the tin. We have run out of mints on 2 playthroughs. If there were JUST 2 or 3 more it would have been perfect.

Sushi Go Party has the same issue with the rulebook, but if you trim it you will cut off the page numbers and some text - poor design choice.

They want $6 for shipping though. Like I said, I can't find this game for much under $20 and I'm not willing to pay that much on such a small game.

      @SushmeitMadhavan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Exactly. I wish it was available for cheaper: It's just such a great package, but for 18$ it's the same as some bigger games like Sushi Go Party, which has free shipping.

I understand why the "coins" look like mints, but I think they are a major chocking hazard being that they look SOOO much like mints.

He said he might have not kept it if it was a bigger game, so that may be the reason. I think this is like a 7/10 for him.
