What I love so much about the 9F models is that the dial is so crisp and clean only showing GS and GrandSeiko, I really love that, to me it emphasizes perfectly what this watch and brand is all about and that is build quality and attention to detail. The only thing GS really has to get sorted is the bracelet, it is no issue to me but for what GS really is and stands for it shouldn't be a talking point for anyone at all.

This is imho the best quartz watch you can get. Marvelous!

I considered one of these. The dial finishing is outstanding. I imagine the quartz movement will have drastically lower cost of ownership than a mechanical movement. Grand Seiko is by no means a budget watch brand. People who choose 9f GS should be proud.

Thanks for the video from a SBGV225 owner. It is an outstanding watch that still most of the people do not have on their radar, but attracts enough attention of those who are interested in watches.

Quartz of this quality can't be denied. I'd buy this watch because it is a piece of art and technology. If the Rolex OP came in quartz I would consider it too. Mechanicals are great until you have to get them serviced....

I've had a couple GS watches. I currently have a SBGX339 diver. I love the look of it and in fact sold a Submariner as I preferred the GS. BUT, the GS is not built the same as a Rolex. The bezel is not anywhere near as precise and in fact it will accidentally move. And it's detents make setting it to 12 o'clock difficult. The other issue is the clasp. It's just not in the same league as Omega or Rolex.
The bracelet itself is quite good.
Having said all that, the SBGX is better looking than the Sub, more comfortable and I love being able to leave it for a week and throw it on without winding, setting, etc.. Quartz does have that advantage and it's absolutely accurate.

Given that the finish of the case, dial, hands and markers, is at a level you wouldn't see on a Swiss made watch for under $10,000 and the 10 second/year accuracy is basically unrivalled, yes the GS quartz watches are definitely worth it. I have a SGBP005 which is in a 44GS case with a 9F85 movement (very similar to the one you reviewed) and can confirm that the bracelet is not an issue; especially when you put it on a blue calf leather strap which, without the distraction of the bracelet, allows you to enjoy the complexity and finish of the case more completely (especially the lugs).

It is definitely a scratch magnet. It would have been much less if I had been more patient and let them fit it to my wrist more properly. With that said, no regrets. Excellent Daily

Abdallah I think your watch reviews are very good. This is no exception. Nicely shot and edited with a great style of conversation.
I think your architecture background gives you a different perspective on design, shape, form and function which is really interesting and informative.
On this I would happily pay that for a quartz watch if the quality is there, which it clearly is. A fraction of the price of a datejust, with better finishing and arguably a more refined design.
My issue is that I would scratch it up quickly and I think it would lose its appeal quickly. A Rolex would last longer and patina more elegantly.
Many thanks for another enjoyable review

Thank you for your kind words and insights, Wisam! For me personally, a beat up GS doesn't have the same appeal as a beat up Rolex. So yeah, I completely agree with that part. Although this model is not strictly a dress watch, it's far from having that tool-like versatility of a Rolex.

Rolex is cold, soulless for me (I own two). GS is original, has its own ’art of design language’, and has perfected case and dial finishing.

Since no-one needs watches there are no longer universal specs a watch must perform at. Experiencing watches is quite personal. I personally like smooth second hands, I would never buy a watch with 1 second jump nonmatter how precise. If I ever get an expensive Seiko spring drive is my poison.

    • @watcheswithabdullah
      @watcheswithabdullah  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Totally get your point. Nothing beats the smooth sweeping hand of a Spring Drive. Thanks for sharing!

I don't understand why you say no one needs a watch. How else do you tell time? A Sundial works but they're little awkward to carry around with you. I do not carry a phone with me all the time so having a watch on my wrist it's just convenient. I have been wearing a watch for 65 years. I almost feel off-balance when I don't have one on. The idea of having to reach for a phone and turn it on just to see what time it is seems stupid to me.
