Hi Janelle, what year was Dr Rousseau a doctor in the Pella area? My great-great grandfather, Dr Hermannus Jacobus Rubertus, was a physician in Pella from 1851-1854. He died of cholera in 1854 after visiting patients. He is buried in Oak Wood Cemetery, near the Scholtes. I wonder if your ancestor knew mine??! ~Chrisanne (Rebertus) Nahum (my grandfather changed the spelling of our last name. My grandparents lived in Pella their whole lives and I just moved back.)
Hello! Dr. Rousseau worked in Marion County as a “country physician.” He had no office in any particular city other than maybe in his own home. He was in the county 1844-1864. They probably knew each other… these were quite small towns. I bet you are enjoying your time back. I’ve just spent a week and a half in the area touring and telling stories. I have many more videos to put out. Keep in touch!
