      Hell yeah!
I'm fairly certain Jimmy Page would've liked her, too.
And it might've been... *memorable* , for her -- but not necessarily the *greatest* experience. 😬

For this song, the band had no title. There was a black dog that was hanging around the studio. So the song ultimately was just called black dog after the animal.
There are a lot of songs of theirs to check . Enjoy the journey. All 4 members are stars. Jimmy Page was a great innovator and experimented with lots of styles and tempos.
Check out these: Immigrant Song live 1972, You Shook Me, The Ocean, When The Levee Breaks, Stairway To Heaven Live, Whole Lotta Love. Heartbreak/ Living Loving Maid ( play together ).

However, a black dog is a sign of bad fortune. This goes for Germanic and Celtic cultures. Historically, the English folklore believed that they were a bad omen, representing melancholy and death.

Hi Steph, your next Led Zeppelin reaction simply has to be Dazed and Confused live from MSG 1973. It's a 29 minute masterpiece that many consider to be the greatest live performance of all time. Jimmy Page puts on a performance that's mind blowing. Unfortunately the full version can only be found on Facebook or Dailymotion, but there is a TH-cam full HD version of the first 10 minutes of the song that is well worth reacting to. Keep up the good work, love your reactions.

I bought my first Led Zeppelin album over 50 years ago. I always knew there was some extraordinary about this band, something that made them stand out amongst all the others of the era. They seemed to exist on their own, without borrowing from any other band. They made me question what I was listening to at that time. Only Jimi Hendrix and Police had that effect on me.

I've lived on a lake in North Carolina since 1987. I spent roughly 12 years with a woman who loved to water ski as much as I did. I'd look back while she was skiing and it looked like she was talking to herself. It turned out that whenever she water skied she would sing Led Zeppelin's Black Dog.

You should react to this whole concert. This was filmed over 3 nights at Madison Square Garden in 1973, and the footage would later be used in their movie "The Song Remains the Same" that came out in, I believe 1975. I remember seeing it in the movie theater and had the album, too.
Black dog became the name after Robert showed the band the song he wrote while at Headley Grange recording Led Zeppelin IV, and he remembered a scroungy black dog that was roaming the property there.

I worked security at the Fabulous Forum in SoCal during this time and they were always generous (and totally sold out) so would add shows even WHEN they were in the middle of a week’s worth of shows or more. I saw them play live more than 25 times over the years as a result. I will tell you in the spirit we’re talking here, that when they did this song, by the 2nd time they were asking for the audience to participate, EVERYONE including us were giving it back…no matter how “Cool” you were, they always brought us along during the concert. Those talking disco are right. THAT dominated the “scene” where I worked at least and it was almost like LedZep were single-handedly guarding Rock…and when Bonzo died, and they disbanded, Rock started going dormant….and I decided to heck with my side job, and focused instead of my college….times change for better or for worse…. 😢

@@mr.knowitall6440 Sorry you feel so let down by that place. It held a lot of other functions besides being the largest venue for concerts. Being the largest obviously is not always being the best. Besides I got to work the Front rows, or backstage so esp with LedZep, sound quality was never an issue. FYI, just about every one of their concerts there was recorded at the soundboard and there are many bootlegs if you want to travel back in time and hear what you missed out on.

Zeppelin is definitely a favorite of mine. I had MSG tickets reserved when John died. When I heard I went home, sat down with my boo. Box and Sony headphones and listened to all their albums back to back to back. I could recommend many songs, and if you have time, I would go with my favorite, The Rain Song. I've always been partial to the studio version, and my favorite live version is from )age and Plant, No Quarter, so no John.
What I really want you to react to is Stevie Ray Vaughn, Texas Flood ( Live at the El Macambo). This will get you started on possibly the greatest Rock/Blues guitarist that ever lived. He was almost beyond human when he was in the groove. The music just flowed out of him.

Jimmy Page's guitar solo, where the band executes a metric modulation to a slower tempo, and changes to 5/4 meter. The eighth-note in the solo shifts to the value of a quarter-note triplet, and Bonham plays a series of triplets in 5/4 at the new tempo
A very hard act to follow for new guitar and drum players It realy showa why the band would never work without Bonham. Master class

The Ocean is a good tune. I was fortunate enough to see them perform about 5 songs off of every Led Zeppelin album live in concert, nice and close to the stage. Jimmy Page was a session guitarist, playing lead guitar on many other bands' albums. He uses little to no guitar effects used by guitarists today. Virtually ALL the sounds he makes with the guitar in which other guitarists try to find what effects devices he uses to get his sounds, are not devices at all. He plays mostly a clean amplifier sound without effects. He gets the sounds from advanced guitar techniques he utilizes while playing. As a session guitarist, he has to be able to play pretty much anything he's hired to play. That includes different styles and genres of music. It is evident as one listens to the songs off of their many albums. He seems to merge many different styles of music onto the rock he plays. They were from a time without autotune or the things musicians have available today. They had to actually play and perform everything without any technological aids. They had to actually have skill and talent.

Wow welcome back Stephanie I wondered about you. First off is should be noted that this song is not about a “black dog” nor apparently references one is any type of way, shape or form. Rather the title was inspired by an actual animal which fit this description that used to roam around the studio where Led Zeppelin worked on their fourth album (which this song is featured on). They befriended the canine and, amidst experiencing writer’s block when trying to come up with a title, decided to name this track after it.

Yes, please react to The Beatles! One of their great songs is “Hard Day’s Night”! Great song from 1964!

Named for a stray black dog that Plant took a liking to. But in literature a black dog is sometim4es the name given to depression, also a black dog is often associated with the devil.

Several of their songs are about the fun they had doing what they did and The Ocean is one. It's about the ocean of people who showed up to see them. Definitely check out the studio version too. Sometimes the original versions are better.

The title, Black Dog, although it is correct to say it was named after a dog that the band saw outside the Henley Grange studio, was not just used arbitrarily. The Black Labrador would disappear in the evening then reappear in the morning, tired and would seem to sleep all day. The implication being that the dog, like the subject of the song, was spending his nights pursuing his lust and was being similarly taken advantage of.

You should do as you said every Zeppelin song and in order from Good Times Bad Times on. First song first album. Do studio first and we'll fill you in to live versions

Hey, I love you re reactions. I have a suggestion, I think you should always start with the audio version. Live versions are fun, but the quality isn’t always good and they don’t always play the song at the same speed. You should hear the original first, just my opinion.

Jimmy Page has an effect on females. I am one and I find him intriguing. Cute, talented and amazing.
But, Jimmy always seems to have this magic on women.
As for parents - well, my parents did not care if I loved Led Zeppelin. They never censored my brother or I in our music and we were listening to rock since we were little kids off 6 and 8.
