Thanks for testing this! Also keep in mind the 100% attack speed cap. So even for primary attack based builds, if you’re already capped, the attack speed skills in slayer (and the attack speed legendary skill) will do nothing for your dps. Auroth doesn’t like the slayer skill that spreads dots to nearby enemies at 66% reduced effectiveness. However, I’d like to confirm whether the weakened version of the dot that spreads also triggers its internal cooldown, which is 20 seconds on the dot gems. If so, it could actually lower your damage. If not, it could only raise it.
I think Slayer would work with the primary attack skills that boost damage (like some of the essences for Magic Missile) but it feels like a stretch to make a build just to make use of a paragon, when Slinger is still working well. 😅 Slayer does however, work really well in Vanguard (the left nodes of the tree) - have you tried that out yet? 👀
Slinger left side skills nodes are also tricky for you as you need to stay close and its easier for you to get hit by monsters but yeah overall slinger is still best but Slayer left side nodes are better inside Vanguard. They somehow deal more damage
I use slinger since I’m a war mage raining hell from a distance. I freeze and back of so the damage increases as I move away… it is hilarious!😂 I leave them frozen taking damage!!!😂 careful aim for me… using arcane wind and the electric scorch and black hole! And frostfield that makes my skills chill and freeze! I’m at gold two and am #6 on the leaderboard. My server is hunt for the three!
Salyer 100%, specially if you have any kind of Freeze, burn, stun , fear, etc. together with Death's Release (Legendary Skill) Great for end game Challenge Rifts & BG
I tested it here and it didn’t come out on top - I have burn and poison in my build. The only place Slayer seems to do more damage for me personally (in any of my builds) is in Vanguard, it makes it super easy to kill the boss. It seems to work better for Melee classes.
@@ShimshonDI kinda pointless for a glass cannon war mage like myself. For me, I Play as though the best defense is offense. Read the enemies movement to keep myself at a distance, while pumping everything into technical CC and Damage. It’s got me to #6 on the leaderboard…For my barb though, I’m loving the new shield set up in slayer.

Slinger is better for me too. As a Crusader in PvP I tried the absorb shield ones but the bottom right in Brawler is still king. 😊
For PVP I still use Gladiator… I need the extra cheat death as a squishy wiz. 🥲

Slayer is good for dot builds like sader and necro but weak for other classes where slinger is much better for rangers.
Slinger will always have my heart ngl. Favourite paragon ever. 😅

PvP…pve has low priority for paragon set up really
Mostly PvE. In PvP, most players prefer more defensive paragons.

PVE - for PVP I would recommend Gladiator with the cheat death node active, or Brawler.
