I lived in Shelbyville a couple of years ago. The 6th and main coffeehouse was awesome, especially their peppermint coffee, and the polka dotted pineapple was my favorite store. he bell house restraunt was very good.

I live in Louisville Ky but work at a factory (Sonoco) in Shelbyville, Ky. I can honestly say I enjoy Shelbyville, Ky more than Louisville Ky. At least in Shelbyville, Ky I don't have to think i'm going to be robbed / attacked / shot at any moment like i do in Louisville Ky.

I live in Detroit & every time I go to Louisville I feel safe. Louisville is tame compared to Detroit. Go Bats! Go Reds!!

I've lived in the East end of Louisville most of my life, and crime is not an issue. I have always been and felt safe. Sounds like you need to prioritize a better neighborhood move.
