I'll definitely make a video on this one day in the future. This is not the result of talent, but a hobby that I have been practicing pretty hard for about a few years now- I am by no means special or "gifted" in any way, outside of being able to type fast I am pretty much just an average dude with an average brain. My IQ, reaction time, and the rate at which I learn and process information is in the average range if that means anything :) It pretty much comes down to pushing yourself outside your comfort zone consistently. The best way to do this is to play Typeracer and to NEVER quit any races, people often like to quit the races where you get quote selections that are very long or have weird symbols and stuff. Don't. Playing a lot of typeracer is pretty much how I got most of my speed actually, it took me like two and a half years roughly to grind my way up from 110wpm average to 155wpm average (AVERAGE on quotes). I built up that original speed by using a computer since I was 5 and playing a lot of online games. Keep in mind i was pretty obsessed and playing typeracer literally every day even while at school when I should have been working LOL. So for a pretty simple way to improve, play a TON of typeracer. Monkeytype however has recently become my favorite website for practice. I usually train on long/thicc quotes, and you can even pick what wordlists you want to train on, so my favorite is english 10k which is the top ten thousand english words so a lot of uncommon words, then I might say make the test 120 seconds and then turn on punctuation too for an extra challenge. It definitely doesn't feel comfortable, but that's pretty much the point. It takes a lot of time and you will hit MANY plateaus and feel like you are not improving... that is completely normal. Just takes time and consistency. I honestly believe that typing 200wpm is something that most people are capable of doing but most people don't because it's pretty hard and takes a lot of time to hit that level, not necessarily because they aren't inherently capable of doing it. Quality practice matters above all.
Thanks! Also fun fact: I switched away from QWERTY at the start of this year and my personal best 1 minute test was 190WPM… and I’m very glad I switched even though I was already fast. You would hit 100wpm in roughly a week if you switch cold turkey.
@@OatsOats Alright! Thanks for letting me know. The main reason that I was scared of moving from qwerty to another layout was if all the shortcuts or game keybindings would be scuffed because it's still bound to the same keys and, you know, the new keyboard layout screwed over whatever.
