Leave It To Beaver was a really popular TV show in the Fifties that was revived eventually on Nickelodeon. You can find some episodes or portions on TH-cam. It was about an iconic Fifties white suburban family with a stay at home mom who was always perfectly conservatively stylishly dressed, a wise dad, a “hip” teenaged older brother, and a middle school kid named Theodore whom they nicknamed The Beaver or just Beaver who had a kid’s philosophical view of life. Plus there was a snotty friend of the older brother who changed his color around the parents and snowed the mom with his flattery and fake good behavior. It was rather bland yet amusing and a definite icon of American culture.
This isn’t really slang, but every time my mom met someone that she thought was smart, she would say, “S/he’s a fart smeller!” because she loved Spoonerisms. I smiled when I saw the title of your reading because I came to the same conclusion last night when I realized that transiting Neptune is only 2° away from my natal Mars and has been for a while. Funny, I almost commented on “Gee Whiz” yesterday, too, and also associated it to the Boomer generation and specifically to “Leave it to Beaver.” This was a popular American tv family sitcom from the late 1950s to early ‘60s meant to portray typical white middle class small town American life during that era. Beaver was the nickname for the youngest son of the Cleaver family, who was ever getting himself into ridiculous scrapes of one sort or another. Ward and June Cleaver (the parents), and Wally and Theodore (Beaver), their 2 sons. I used to watch it every afternoon after school, along with Superman and Perry Mason.

All 1970-80’s Northern English slang 😄x

My mother-in-law is from Pittsburg and so can definitely confirm the whole 'Yinz' thing (though she says it more like 'Younz' -- like 'you' + 'nnz' -- and told me it can depend where in Pittsburg you're from for if you say Yinz or Younz). Back when I was still a roller derby official, I saw the Steel City Rollers play (the Pittsburg team) at a tournament and their chant was 'Yinz! Yinz! Yinz!'. They also had a t-shirt with that on it, which I bought for my mother-in-law and she loves it! P.S. As I'm sure others have said, 'Leave it to Beaver' was a 1950s TV show here in the US, chock full of 50s Americana. It's also sort of shorthand for that time period for Americans these days -- very simple, very conservative, very white. Not sure what the equivalent in the UK would be, but it was basically a family sit-com with 'The Beaver' (the son's nickname) as sort of the lead, plus his brother, friends, and his parents. I haven't seen it since I was a kid in the 70s/80s, when it would rerun all the time. But it was pretty popular for it's time, if not a bit 'innocent' and 'dated' for a modern audience.

Pull a Ueee in the US. Denis the Menace was both a show and cartoon strip in the US. I was only aware of the cartoon strip as I was born in 1966 and the show ran in the 1950's.
My dad's personal jargon I still recall with fondness, as we entered or exited the Los Angeles freeway by way of those near circular on/offramps, he'd say, "Round and round the bendem, Johnny, making yellow ice cream." I've no idea where he got that, but I admit to saying it with my own little ones when we hit those same structures.

I explained -- as you said -- it's getting ready to do something. It's just so common here in the South, I don't even notice it!

Yeah, "Whoa, Nelly" was one of my dad's faves too. He was born in 1932 (passed in 1980, way too soon) so maybe that's the reason.

I had a friend who used to say “oh, frass!” That’s a good one.
